Patriots take a couple hits on defense

A few months ago, the Patriots defense looked primed to be one of the top defenses in the NFL. Asante Samuel would return after his almost Pro-Bowl season. Adalius Thomas was brought in from Baltimore to add some spark to an aging linebacker core. Rodney Harrison was finally healed and expected to play the entire season after missing portions of the last two years with injuries. Add coach Bill Belichick’s master defensive scheming to the mix and you have the forming of a perfect defensive storm (a good version though…not this one). (More …)

Bears TE Greg Olsen: Knee just a sprain

Olsen didn’t look so hot leaving the field on Thursday, but it sounds like he’ll be OK. That said, the fact that he’ll be rehabbing a injury for a while, and splitting time even when he’s healthy, takes some of the luster away from this potential sleeper.

If he’s available in your keeper league, I’d say he’s worth locking up if you can spare the roster spot, but as for this season it seems likely that he’ll tempt us with a few big plays but fail to produce consistently.
