The Frerotte era in St. Louis?

Although it is obviously not the "Gus Frerotte Era" in St. Louis, it will be Frerotte’s team for the next couple weeks while Bulger rides the pine, trying to heal some of his wounds (broken ribs, sore knee, hurt shoulder, etc). Bulger has been a sitting duck the past few weeks with the offensive line in disarray, something you don’t want to say about a quarterback your team just gave a huge contract extension to. Frerotte has been a journeyman throughout his career and has proven to be a decent backup in his time with Washington, Detroit, Denver, Cincinnati, Minnesota, Miami, and now St. Louis, but he’s probably most famous for his self-caused concussion while playing for the Redskins.

Non-football related post of the moment: TV Show Reviews

I originally wrote this post for my own personal blog, but I figured that I might as well share it with all of our devoted readers as well, just in case they were also fans of non-sports related television. Just to let you know, I’m an easily amused guy, so it doesn’t take much to get a good review from me, so here you go…

While down in Puerto Rico, I’ve found myself to be watching a lot of television. Most of the time it’s ESPN if SportsCenter is on, or one of the network stations if it’s Sunday and football is on. However, during the week days I’ve been watching lots of the new shows that are airing this season, so I figured I’d give my brief reaction to each of the new shows that I have seen so far:

The Big Bang Theory (CBS, Monday 8:30 PM):
After 1 episode…This show takes the work place humor and spins it a little differently, just taking the smart, eccentric people and putting them in their home environment. If you’re into nerdy humor, you should enjoy this show. Also, to make the show appealing to a broader audience, they cast the neighbor as a less-than-genius, hot, blonde who makes for some pretty good laughs and visuals.

I’ve got two words for you about How I Met Your Mother: Slap Bet. Season 2, Episode 9. If that doesn’t convince you to watch, then the show’s not for you.

(I’d also really recommend Countdown (2×20) and Lucky Penny (2×15). I know I’m recommending all Season 2 episodes, but if you’ve got a limited sample time for the show I’d say just jump to the really good stuff to get you hooked. The first season still holds up.)

Cut Your Losses: Players to Drop, Week 5

As always, here are the guys who have outlived their usefulness completely in shallower leagues, and should be at least heading toward your chopping block in deeper leagues.

Tatum Bell, RB, DET: If you’ve got the roster space to hold onto him in case Kevin Jones gets injured (which, history suggests, he probably will), then feel free to keep him, but know that you won’t have any reason to start him unless something happens to Jones. Jones is the much better goal-line rusher, and while they’re splitting the rest of the carries up the middle so far, that doesn’t seem likely to be the case for long as Jones continues to improve.
