Fantasy Football Studs and Duds: Week 6
I will be leaving to head to St. Maarten this weekend, so Matt will have to hold down the blogging for a few days. However, before I leave, I figured I’d post a few quick thoughts on players that on paper look like they should have solid games this week, as well as players that look like they should struggle. You may wish to start or sit players on your team accordingly, if possible.
Ronnie Brown (MIA): Should be a terror both on the ground and in the air, as Cleveland continues to struggle to stop just about anybody.
Chris Chambers (MIA): The Browns are arguably the worst team in the NFL against the pass.
Dwayne Bowe (KC): Remember that high-scoring affair between the Browns and Bengals? The Bengals can’t stop the pass at this point.
Tony Gonzalez (KC): As did Bowe, Gonzo should benefit from a pathetic Bengals pass defense.
Brian Griese (CHI): While solid against the run, the Vikings struggle against the pass, and Griese should do fairly well.
Bernard Berrian (CHI): If he plays, expect a good game from Bernard against this weak pass defense.
Greg Olsen (CHI): Griese seems to be meshing with Olsen and this could be a great chance for him to continue that growth.
Jason Wright (CLE): Jamal Lewis picked the wrong week to get hurt, as Jason Wright should get the chance to post some great stats against a terrible Dolphins run defense.
Larry Johnson (KC): Will LJ break out of his slump this week? The Bengals might just be the medicine he needs.
Willis McGahee (BAL): Already posting a solid year yardage wise, the trend should continue as the Ravens ride McGahee all day long against the sieve the Rams call a rush defense.
Jeff Garcia (TB): The Titans are solid against the pass, and Garcia won’t impress this weekend.
Joey Galloway (TB): If Garcia can’t get it done, Galloway most likely won’t either.
Brett Favre (GB): The Redskins are good against the pass and could force Favre to play similar to his game in Chicago this past weekend.
Donald Driver / Greg Jennings / James Jones (GB): If Favre struggles, his receivers could find it difficult to rack up any fantasy worthy stats.
Cedric Benson (CHI): Already posting a disappointing season, Benson now goes up against the best rush defense in the NFL.
Brian Leonard (STL): The Ravens run defense is good, but he pass defense isn’t as great, so expect to see the Rams air it out often this weekend… instead of running Leonard.
Marion Barber III / Julius Jones (DAL): The Patriots are forcing teams to abandon the running game early as they jump out to double digit leads… this doesn’t bode well for a committee situation such as the Cowboys’.
Sammy Morris / Laurence Maroney (NE): I expect the ball to be in Brady’s hands for a majority of this game, but I guess if the Patriots can get a big lead, you could see their running backs a bit, but I still don’t see them doing all that well (and Maroney probably won’t even play!)
