    My finals matchup

If you’re not interested in my personal fantasy football situation, skip this post. Brandon’s got some info you can actually use in his waiver wire report for week 16. I find it easiest to get a handle on a fantasy situation I’m in when I explain it to someone else, and hey, what luck – I’ve got a blog on fantasy football! Crazy how these things work out sometimes. Details on my finals matchup after the jump.

It looks even on paper. Last week was really weird so you never know. I made it to the championship game even though I was only up by 12 points and Plax and C. Taylor left to go. They combined to score only 11.

My championship match: (we start 2 QBs)

      My Team – Opponent
      QB: Palmer – QB: Farve
      QB: McNabb- QB: Hasselbeck
RB: Addai – RB: Stecker or Maroney
      RB: Gore – RB: Westbrook
      WR: TJ Housh- RB: B.Jacobs
      WR: Marshall – WR: Ward
      WR: Holt – WR: Gaffney
      TE: Gates – TE: Watson
      K: Graham – K: Crosby
      DEF: Chargers – DEF: Giants

I have A. Gonzalez, S. Young and S. Rosenfels on the Bench as well. So my starting lineup could change.

      Good luck.

I got a tough match for my championship game.

      My team:

QB: VY, Cutler, or Eli Manning
RB: Choose one: Addai, Kolby Smith, Ryan Grant, or Edgerrin James
RB/WR: Probably a second from RB listed above
WR: Choose two: Lee Evans, Wes Welker, Deion Branch, Bernard Berrian
      TE: Tony Scheffler
D/ST: Packers (or Giants off waiver)
      K: Crosby

      His team:

QB: Brett Favre (or Marc Bulger)
      RB: Fred Taylor
      RB/WR: Aaron Stecker
WR: Choose two: T.O., Galloway, A. Gonzalez, Nate Burleson
      TE: Antonio Gates
      D/ST: Tampa Bay
      K: Phil Dawson

Any opinions of who to start/bench? I might lean towards Evans blowing up rather than taking a chance on Berrian or Branch getting the majority of passes this week.

Probably have to go with Cutler at QB… those aren’t options I’d like to have, though. In your RB spot and flex, I’d use Addai, Smith, and Grant. Edge just hasn’t been getting his standard # of carries lately and I don’t know if that trend will continue. Yeah, I think I’d go with Evans and Welker at WR.

Looks like you must have been in a pretty deep league, eh? 16 teams? Those don’t looks like finals-worthy squads in a 12-team league.

Rol Z – looks like a tight matchup there. He’s got you at QB, but your WR corps is a lot better. I’d give you about a 3-point spread to win. 🙂

Matt- Well, it’s a 12-team league, but I have been the waiver wire hero all season. Addai and Welker have carried me with some support from the likes of Kenny Watson, Matt Schaub, Chad Pennington and Jason Wright from week-to-week.

The #5 seed I am facing lucked out with a big week last week and took down the #1 seed who was sitting on Tom Brady, Randy Moss and L.T. This championship is sort of a survivor series.

      Here’s to hoping I survive.

    The Wire: Week 16

I can’t speak for everyone else out there, but the poor play of numerous fantasy stars (i.e. Antonio Gates) combined with the unexpected play of a few others (Anthony Gonzalez, Aaron Stecker, etc) has knocked me out of both of my semi-final games this past weekend. The best I can hope for now is a couple of third place finishes…not quite what I was hoping for going into the season, but the great part about fantasy football is that there’s always next year.

Anyways, enough of that depressing talk, as I’m sure there are a number of you who survived this past weekend’s battle and are on to the champion ship game this week. Before I go into this weeks suggestions though, I just wanted to give a quick warning to owners who may have players playing in wintry conditions…don’t start any kicker in the snow (Rian Lindell), and think twice before starting a border line receiver in freezing conditions (Jabar Gaffney)! For those of you whom it still matters, here are your waiver wire suggestions for week 16…most likely the last game of the fantasy football season…

Domanic Rhodes (RB-OAK): Did you get to the champion ship game in part due to riding the coattails of your week 9 waiver pickup Justin Fargas? If so, you’re probably searching frantically to patch up that hole in your lineup, as Fargas is expected to miss a game or so due to a knee injury. It appears that Rhodes was the guy they went to in Fargas’ absence this weekend, and he should get the start this weekend. I’m sure the team wants to see what they have in Rhodes before deciding what to do with their running back situation in the off-season, so he should get the majority of the carries over LaMont Jordan. Keep in mind though that Rhodes has a pretty tough matchup against Jacksonville this weekend.
