Javon Walker found unconscious in Las Vegas

This particular news update caught my eye, considering I was just in Las Vegas this past weekend for my cousin’s bachelor party. It appears that the 55 million dollar (over six years) man, Oakland Raiders WR Javon Walker, was found unconscious in a street off the strip in Las Vegas after an apparent mugging. The Associated Press reports:

Police spokesman Bill Cassell said in a statement that Walker was taken to a hospital with “significant injuries” after being found early Monday on a street off the Las Vegas Strip.

Cassell said Walker remained in fair condition at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center.

This is not a good start to yet another team (the first two being the Packers and Broncos) that was willing to take a big chance on this talented, but extremely unlucky NFL star. Apparently he fractured his orbital bone (eye socket), so hopefully it wasn’t too serious and won’t limit him this season, but we’ll just have to wait and see until more official reports are announced.

In case you were curious what exactly Walker was up to in Vegas though…

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal columnist Norm Clarke, Walker was seen Saturday night at Tryst at the Wynn spraying the crowd with some of the 15 bottles of Dom Perignon Rose champagne he ordered. Clarke also said Walker was at Body English at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino until 6:30 a.m. Monday and that his first round of champagne cost him $15,000.

Now that sounds like a good time. While I had a great time in Vegas, I did not make it to Tryst, and definitely did not spray Dom Perignon at any crowds. Maybe next time!
