Skinny LenDale White: Bad for the Titans, good for Chris Johnson's fantasy line?

One of the most interesting things to watch during the preseason will be the newly svelte LenDale White. You have to wonder whether the weight loss will cost the Titans their potent smash-n-dash duo. Is a 30-pounds-lighter LenDale White going to be as good a complement to Chris Johnson as the battering ram that scored 15 touchdowns last year? Or will he prove to be no better at the goal line than Johnson, and thus irrelevant and relegated to backup status? If Johnson starts taking goal line opportunities from LenDale, he could easily be the top-scoring fantasy RB this year.

Of course, White still weighs in at 230, so while he’s no longer in Brandon Jacobs’ boxing division, he ain’t exactly a featherweight either. He might have focused enough on maintaining his lower-body strength in order to remain more effective at the goal line than Johnson. Hell, he might even steal some of Johnson’s regular between-the-20’s workload.

The most important takeaway here is that there are a whole lot of unknowns when it comes to taking Chris Johnson in the first round, and almost none of them have to do with Chris Johnson.

As much as I like the Bills offense this year, I dunno about taking Lee Evans AND T.O. in the same draft. Though if Evans was still there at #80 it would be hard to turn him down. Still can’t believe how much more highly people value T.O. than they do Evans. Evans is still the #1 WR and main deep threat.

T.O. finds the end zone though…something Evans has never been known for

Evans caught 3 TD’s last year, Owens Caught 14 – the whole Bills offense only had 14 last year. Evans was locked down last year because he was Buffalo’s ONLY deep threat when Trent could get him the ball. Owens will take a lot of defensive pressure off of Evans, and it would be awesome to see double-digit TD catches from both of them. The only problems: The O-Line sucking, Jauron being a total wuss. Either of those things become a factor, you’ll see TO implode, and probably weak FF perfomances from both Owens and Evans if the team.

I’m hoping Jauron is a better offensive coach than he’s seemed to be the past few years… he hasn’t really had much to work with, so I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt – for one more year. (Of course, this requires me to willfully ignore his Chicago tenure.)

If only there were a way that we could keep crap-tacular coaching from affecting a player’s production…in FF and real life.

Just when the Vick-to-Washington rumors were heating up, GM Vinny Cerrato cools them right back down. Not to say it couldn’t happen, but seems less likely now.
