Well, that was more or less terrifying. Was playing with the baby and completely forgot to check my lineups until 12:45, when I remembered that I probably still had the sidelined Willie Parker in my keeper team’s starting lineup. Fired up the laptop… and the webernets were down. Tick, tick, tick. Crossed my fingers and rebooted the router, which miraculously solved the problem. Swapped him out with two minutes to spare. That’s some fantasy football drama for you right there.

That sucks man. I got on at 12:30 luckily all my questionables played (Bowe, Welker, Portis).

In other news, 3 cheers for the Bengals defense as a bye week fill-in today! 18 points and counting in yahoo and flea flicker standard leagues. And who knows, they may hang onto the shutout…

Speaking of fantasy defenses, I’d like to extend a giant WTF to the Jets, who gave up two touchdowns to the New Orleans defense – which, of course, was the defense my keeper league opponent started this week…

Ask the Geeks: Week 4 game day edition

I didn’t get a chance to get this Ask the Geeks out last night, but hopefully they’re up early enough this morning to help all your teams out! Remember, you can send any additional inquiries you have to us here.

    Lisa asks…

I am the only girl in my league and I am up against the league leader this week and I need your help badly. (I am sitting 3rd, yeah) Should I stick with Ray Rice this week as he has served me well so far OR put in Reggie Bush? Please, please help me, I have to win this week. Thanks.

hey, guys! I need some expert advice! My team, standard 12-team yahoo league: Romo, AJohnson, Hines, ChrJohnson, RonBrown, Olsen, Coffee, LJ, Bradshaw, McGahee, Garcon, Henderson. Since I am relatively deep at RB, should I trade McGahee and Hines for Calvin Johnson and Derrick Ward? Thank you in advance–you guys ROCK!

Just put up a response to this in the Ask the Geeks post dude…check the very bottom. Good luck!

that guy is right, y’all do ROCK! i need an WR2 to start along side Andre Johnson this week: Hines Ward, Pierre Garcon, or Devery Henderson? Thanks!

      • Brandon 10:28 am on October 4, 2009 Permalink | Reply

Go with Devery Henderson if you’re feeling a bit risky. He has the most potential against a beat up Jets secondary. Hines Ward is your man though if you’re feeling a little less-risky.

Cant make my final decision on my RB’s.

I have R. Grant, R. Rice, K. Smith, and Knowshon.

I have pretty much decided to start Knowshon, but you say you don’t like the matchup with Ray Rice. I am not feeling the Grant and Smith matchups (especially since he’s nicked up).

      What do you think?

Who’d you end up going with? Must have missed this comment.

Ray Rice? Or roll the dice with Mendenhall or J. Harrison as new starters?

      • Brandon 12:37 pm on October 4, 2009 Permalink | Reply

I like Harrison out of that group.

        • Eric 2:32 pm on October 6, 2009 Permalink | Reply

Ouch on this recommendation… I would have went with Rice. Who would have thought Mendenhall would blowup:)

        • Brandon 2:37 pm on October 6, 2009 Permalink | Reply

Can’t complain too much about 152 combined yards from Harrison. The other guys did good too, so any way you went it worked out…just a little better with Mendenhall.

Which free agent should I pick up to play at RB today Tashard Choice or Donald Brown?

      Thanks!!

      • Adam 11:11 am on October 4, 2009 Permalink | Reply

        Jerome Harrison is also available.

      • Adam 7:32 pm on October 4, 2009 Permalink | Reply

Thanks, guys. Ended up with Brown. Brown did a bit better than Choice, but Harrison seems to have been the best pickup this week. Really couldn’t go bad with any of them this week.

Hey Brandon, should i drop lee evans or bernard berrian to pick up mike sim walker?

      • Brandon 8:28 am on October 5, 2009 Permalink | Reply

I’d drop Lee Evans to get him…but get him quick! Sims-Walker will not be there for the taking very long after this weekend.

I should have played Garcon over Knox in yardage league…I got bad advice!

      • Brandon 1:32 pm on October 5, 2009 Permalink | Reply

Yeah, even though Cutler got good touchdown numbers, his yardage wasn’t anything near what I was expecting. I guess the reemergence of Matt Forte was part of the reason. My boy Devin Hester was hurt right from the start, so at least you got something!

Also, too bad your league doesn’t award points for return yards/scores, as I don’t think you’d have any complaints, hah.
