User Requested Player Ranks – Week 11

This year we’re trying something a little different when it comes to player rankings. We’re letting our readers decide which players show up on the lists. This means less work for me (or at least spreads out the work) while ensuring that all requested players show up on the lists and all quandaries are resolved. Hopefully last weeks rankings helped at least a few teams out there win their match-ups and hopefully this week’s do the same!

Remember, if you have any Flex slot questions, continue to post those as comments and we can respond to them individually. Anyways, feel free to start posting your line-up questions, along with any questions/comments about this new format. This week I’ve kicked off the lists with the top five players from last week at each position. You can find the spreadsheet after the jump. (More …)

Can you add Baltimore D @ Carolina, also Ocho, Both M. Williams, and B Marshall.

Also, what D’s do you like for week 15 & 16 assuming the elite D’s are rostered? Arizona has Carolina & Dallas, but i don’t really think i can bank on them to win it for me.

      • Brandon 12:03 pm on November 17, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Got those players on there. As for defenses, how about Atlanta, Buffalo or Dallas? Buffalo plays New England in week 16, but it’s at home and could be cold/snowy.

Got them all on there. Between those three tight ends it’s basically a crap shoot. Good luck!

WR Reggie Wayne, WR Brandon Lloyd, WR Miles Austin, RB Darren Mcfadden, RB Peyton Hillis, QB Tom Brady, QB Kyle Orton.

Just added them. Great players for the most part, but a lot of tough match-ups there unfortunately.

Hey I am having an extremely hard time deciding who should start as my WR. Which 3 would you pick out of the following five wide receivers. Miles Austin, Brandon LLoyd, Andre Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Terrell Owens. Any advice would be great!!! And also as far as running backs go can you go into why youd pick Mcfadden over Blount? (Im very nervous about pitt defense πŸ™ )

          • Brandon 1:49 pm on November 18, 2010 Permalink | Reply

At receiver, I have Lloyd, AJ and T.O. ranked above Wayne and Austin. It’s close between Wayne and Lloyd though and could really go either way. As for McFadden and Blount, both are actually playing really good run defenses. The Steelers have been the 2nd best in the league in terms of fantasy points by running backs against them, but the 49ers have been the 8th best and were pretty solid in 3 of their last 4 games. I also lean towards McFadden based on his longer track record. I’m still worried that Cadillac will end up getting too many carries or something. McFadden is also used in the passing game, while Blount is just a runner. If Oakland can’t run it against the Steelers, maybe they can get McFadden involved in the passing game. Good luck!

Got them on there. I think Floyd and Ward play this week, but obviously make sure that they will before starting them.

Just added them. Not sure if Sidney Rice or Reggie Bush will play (or how effective they would be anyways.) Seyi Ajirotutu is a mystery, since Malcom Floyd and Legedu Naanee are set to return. I expect Rivers to throw a ton, but how often Ajirotutu is on the field is up in the air.

hey, what’s goin on guys?! Please add Danny Amendola and Mike Williams TB.. thanks!

      • steeve 12:17 pm on November 17, 2010 Permalink | Reply

..and do you think I should do anything with Aaron Hernandez?

Between him and Titans defense getting me 0 points between the two of them, I lost to my division leader by 8 points, he had Vick/Desean/Akers which is a whole other story.. I was up by 75 points before Monday night’s game, those 3 scored 82.. damn Gronkowski.

      • Brandon 8:56 am on November 18, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Got Amendola and Williams on there now. As for Hernandez and Gronkowski, unfortunately they’re going to be risky every week. Brady loves to throw to the tight end, but he seems to gravitate to one each game…so flip a coin I guess! If you want an option with less upside, but at least who is the top tight end target in the offense, you could go with Jermaine Gresham or Benjamin Watson or someone of that ilk.

I feel ya on that loss though. I was up pretty big going into Monday night, but Matt had Vick and ended up beating me pretty handily.

Can you please add Matt Ryan, Mark Sanchez, Felix Jones, Braylon Edwards, Matt Forte, Kansas City Chiefs, and San Diego Chargers? Thanks!

      • Brandon 9:14 am on November 18, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Got them on there. Sanchez and Edwards play the worst pass defense in the league, so it looks like a great match-up on paper. However, Sanchez is a little beat up, so keep an eye on his health heading into the weekend. Good luck!

      hey brandon, can you add:
kitna, amendola, fitzpatrick, keiland williams, brandon pettigrew?
and do you go with NYG or DAL Def, amendola or moss? amendola scored 8x’s moss’ points.
do you dare play keiland over mcfadden??? i play a team w/ VICK – can he go off AGAIN???

      thanks!

      • Brandon 2:50 pm on November 18, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Added those guys to the rankings. As for your other questions, I got Dallas ahead of the Giants. At receiver, it’s all about risk and reward. Moss is high risk with the potential for very high reward. Amendola is lower risk, but the ceiling is a bit lower. Depends what you’re looking for I guess. At running back, I’d stick with McFadden, the proven commodity. As for Vick, he could go off again, but probably won’t put up near the numbers he did. The Giants defense is coming off an embarrassing loss to the Cowboys and is looking to regain some honor. Good luck dude!

So I’ve got Steve Smith (NYG) and am fighting to make the playoffs. Kenny Britt and Santana Moss are both available in my league. Given that Smith will definitely be out for at least this week and next, do you think I should pick one of these guys up? If so, which one? I know Britt is questionable at best this week but he’s got pretty favorable matchups for weeks 12 and 13 (Houston and Jacksonville) and I really don’t need him this week. On the other hand, Moss doesn’t have injury concerns or Randy Moss to compete with… My other WR’s are: Mario Manningham, Dez Bryant, Miles Austin, Wes Welker, and Vincent Jackson…

      • Brandon 2:53 pm on November 18, 2010 Permalink | Reply

You could pick up Moss or Britt, but do you really need them? I wouldn’t think you’d stat them with Manningham, Bryant and Austin/Welker most likely starting. If you’re just looking for depth, just go with Santana Moss for now. Britt might not be back for a few games still, since this is what he said today…

“This was really my first day where they had me moving around in the training room,” Britt said Wednesday. “They had me running on the treadmill and in the water. I don’t want to put too much pressure on my leg right now, but I’m looking a little more mobile.” – Kenny Britt, Nov 18th

      My Team (PPR League)

      Vick, Orton, ,Kitna
Stephen Jackson, Hillis, McCoy, McFadden, Blount
Calvin Jr., Nate Washington, Jonny Knox, Gaffney
      Tamme
Saints D/ST, Bear D/ST (Which would you start week 11????)
      Dan Carpentar

I want to trade a QB and RB (McCoy and Orton) for a #1 reciever. What order would you put these recievers in keeping in mind im only worried about weeks 13-15.
Roddy White (not likely of being traded), Andre Johnson, T.O., Reggie Wayne, Brandon Lloyd, Hakeen Nicks

      • Brandon 11:12 am on November 19, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Oops, looks like I missed the boat on your defense question here! Hopefully you started Chicago since I had them ranked so high, but the Saints should do well too.

As for your trade, I think the only WR’s I’d consider for Orton AND McDoy are White, AJ and Nicks. I might consider Lloyd as well. As for the others (T.O. and Wayne) I’d probably just trade Orton OR McCoy for them…not both. Anyways, here is my order:

White, AJ, Nicks, Lloyd, T.O., Wayne

          thanks for the help

I was curious as to your rankings of Hightower and Woodhead.
Even with Woodhead’s ability to play both WR and RB and going up against the porous Indy run-D, if Beanie Wells is out (or at the very least) or out of form, doesn’t Hightower raise more than you have him??
Just interested in knowing your thoughts on this as I’m likely to start one of them in my flex.
      Thanks!!!

      • Brandon 11:07 am on November 19, 2010 Permalink | Reply

The last two weeks Beanie Wells has been out as well and Hightower only managed 39 yards on 13 carries in both games. He did have a score and two catches last week, but still. He only really has value if he can find the endzone and I have a feeling the Patriots are going to be running the ball a lot against the Colts, including a heavy dose of Danny Woodhead.

Everyone else was probably basing it on Woodhead’s slow game against the Steelers, but after seeing what Pittsburgh did to Darren McFadden, is it really a surprise?! Plus, I just plain ol’ don’t like Tim Hightower πŸ™‚

Totally last minute but I have a question about my running backs. I have MJD, Jahvid Best, Marshawn Lynch and Brandon Jacobs. I’m going to play MJD but who’s the lesser of three evils? Every site I’ve seen is telling me to sit Best but are Lynch and Jacobs better options? Thanks!

      • Brandon 9:14 am on November 22, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Hey Kate, sorry I didn’t get to this one in time. Did you end up making the right decision? MJD had a big game so hopefully that helped!

        • Kate K 12:51 pm on November 22, 2010 Permalink | Reply

No problem Brandon–I know it was last minute. MJD helped me out immensely–I played Marshawn Lynch (which cost me 2.50 points…) but luckily the person I played this week had an even worse week and I might win anyway. (Thanks Ahmad Bradshaw and Visanthe Shianco!)
