Detroit Lions quarterback Shaun Hill will miss at least a game with a broken index finger on his throwing hand, meaning third-stringer Drew Stanton will be at center this weekend. It also means you need to start the Bears defense if you can and lower your expectations for Calvin Johnson.

While this is sad news for the Lions and real football, this is great news for my fake football team. I have the Bears D/ST and my opponent (also my sister-in-law) has Megatron. She is currently 10-2 and mighty proud of it. I think it took all of 10 minutes for her to mention it on T-day! Thanks for the update!

User Requested Player Ranks – Week 13

This year we’re trying something a little different when it comes to player rankings. We’re letting our readers decide which players show up on the lists. This means less work for me (or at least spreads out the work) while ensuring that all requested players show up on the lists and all quandaries are resolved. Hopefully last weeks rankings helped at least a few teams out there win their match-ups and hopefully this week’s do the same!

Remember, if you have any Flex slot questions, continue to post those as comments and we can respond to them individually. Anyways, feel free to start posting your line-up questions, along with any questions/comments about this new format. This week I’ve kicked off the lists with the top five players from last week at each position. You can find the spreadsheet after the jump. (More …)

Mark Sanchez and Jay Cutler are the bain of my Fantasy existance! I see you have them back to back on the list. I never know when they will deside to do well or suck really bad. I played the wrong one out of the pair (Sanchez) week 12.

      Please rank the following players:
      Mike Thomas (Jac-WR) – @ TEN
      Knowshon Moreno (Den-RB) – @ KC
      Danario Alexander (StL-WR) – @ ARI
      Ben Obomanu (Sea-WR) – CAR
      Kevin Boss (NYG-TE) – WAS
      Billy Bajema (StL-TE) – @ ARI
      DeSean Jackson (Phi-WR) HOU

Thank you, and boy why does everyone have so much faith in Chris Johnson. Unless Collins plays Sunday, the team will still be a Hot Mess, Chris can only do so much!!

Try hanging with Big Ben and Kyle Orton! I dropped Cutler a few weeks ago. I am thinking of getting him back if Benji is hurt. Jay-Jay has a fairly decent playoff schedule, but so does Orton.
It is better to have this kind of problem than trying to pick between Hasselback and Clausen!

I am in a 14 team dry-as-a bone thristy league. There ain’t no other choice but Cutler and Sanchez. My opponent has Tom Brady and Matty Ice Ryan!

I’m trying to snag a play off spot. It’s a long shot, I know but I’m giving it all I got.

Perhaps I’ll loose and be put out of my misery for this season. LOL

Well, good luck getting to the playoffs. After that it is just one game at a time!
Since a win or a loss would not hurt either me or my opponent, I am seriously thinking of suggesting a kickers only duel.

Just got those guys up there. I agree with you on Chris Johnson…I’m banking on the fact that Kerry Collins plays, otherwise the other team will stack the box big time!

      • Brandon 10:55 am on December 2, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Just dropped Chris Johnson down a few spots, even with Kerry Collins supposed to play. The other guys have just been too dominant lately.

      QBs – Orton, Roethlisberger, Cutler
WRs – Manningham, Welker, Woodhead, Boldin, Andre Johnson
RBs – McFadden, Felix Jones, Steven Jackson, Hillis, Woodhead, Ricky Williams, Westbrook
      TEs – Vernon Davis, Witten
D/ST – Chicago, Cleveland, Tampa Bay
      K – Bryant, Carpenter

      THANKS!!

Got them all on there now, except the kickers 🙂

Could you please rank the following players:
      RBs–Goodson, Blount
      WRs–Amendola, S. Rice, S. Moss, B. White
      D–Chargers

Also, in the slot, the highly-targeted Mike Thomas against a tough Titans defense or the hot-of-late Blair White playing a bad Dallas D?

      • Brandon 10:57 am on December 2, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Got them all on there now, so take a look! Got White a spot ahead of Thomas right now, assuming he finds the endzone at least once. Good luck!

Can you please add Matt Ryan, Matt Forte, Felix Jones, Pierre Thomas (if he’s back), Brian Westbrook, & T.O.
      Thank you.

Just added them. Keep the PT Cruiser in the garage this weekend if you can help it.

Could you add Adrian Peterson and Andre Johnson to your list?

      • Brandon 11:22 am on December 2, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Got them on there. Wasn’t really sure how to rank Adrian Peterson until we find out more about his injury. He might play, but I assume he still defers to Toby Gerhart a fair amount. Go with healthier options if you have them.

    • solomon_adams 6:01 pm on December 1, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Can you add Philip Rivers, Miles Austin, Darren McFadden, Ronnie Brown, Ricky Williams, & Greg Olsen? Thanks, Brandon!

      • Brandon 11:28 am on December 2, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Just put them up. Start Rivers for sure…the rest of the guys are questionable.

    • e-roc 9:29 pm on December 1, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Jason Avant, Manningham, Chris Ivory and Fred Jackson. Thanks!

      • Brandon 11:34 am on December 2, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Got them on there e-roc. Excuse my low ranking of Ivory, but I just have no clue what is going on with the Saints backfield at this point. They’re all kind of hurt, who knows if Pierre Thomas is playing, Ivory got very lucky last week with his touchdowns. I’d bench him if you have a safer option.

You’re good to go Sloth…check it out! Gerhart is hard to rank until we have more information on Peterson, so don’t lock your roster in stone just yet 🙂

Got Bush on there now. Not high on him until he can put up a reasonable performance though.

      RBs: Rice, LT, Blount, Westbrook.

Do you guys think Goodson is worth holding over Blount, Westbrook or LT for playoffs wks 14-16? Worried about his timeshare going forward, so I dropped him for Westbrook this week.

      Thanks

      • Brandon 11:47 am on December 2, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Just added those guys. As for Goodson, I think you probably wanted to keep him. The team is a running team and Goodson should continue to get plenty of carries, even with Jonathan Stewart back. He’s also used in the passing game, something LeGarrette Blount is not used for. There’s no way to hold on to all of them? 🙂

        • TJ 2:36 pm on December 2, 2010 Permalink | Reply

I can hold 5 RBs, we start 2 – Foster and Rice, then LT, Blount, and Westbrook. I thought Westbrook might be a better bet as he’s likely to be the #1 guy overcDixon, but now he’s hurt again (ankle). Who would you drop for Goodson? Rice doesn’t have great matchups in the next 4 weeks, I wouldn’t drop him but would definitely consider benching him for one of the others depending on their opponents.

          • Brandon 2:32 pm on December 3, 2010 Permalink | Reply

As long is this isn’t a keeper league, you might think about dropping LeGarrette Blount as long as it seems Westbrook is healthy enough to play this weekend. Blount hasn’t been used in the passing game at all and really only has a couple good games this year in terms of fantasy value. Maybe he racks up 80 yards, but if he doesn’t score, he’s not great for your team. Westbrook and Goodson are both used in the passing game and have a better chance of putting up points for your squad. The reason I mention Westbrook’s health is because if he misses the game for some reason, it could give Anthony Dixon a chance to take over the top spot in that running game. Anyways, hopefully this helps a bit!

      • Brandon 2:23 pm on December 3, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Sorry I was a bit late on this one. I guess the Maclin vs Manningham debate is moot. As for defense, go with the Chargers for sure. I got Fitzpatrick on there as well. Good luck!

Please tell me your reason for giving Cutler the slight edge over Sanchez. I’m trying to get into the playoffs and they are my QB choices. I don’t have a lot of confidence in either of them. The Jets and the Bears have proven they can win without much help from their QBs.

      • Brandon 2:33 pm on December 3, 2010 Permalink | Reply

I have to give Cutler the edge this week based on A) his performance last week and B) how the Lions pass defense got dominated last week. The Patriots defense isn’t good and Sanchez should be solid, but I’m thinking the game won’t be a barn burner and that could limit Sanchez’s numbers. Hopefully I’m right, because I want the Patriots to win!

        • AtlantaJJ (Janet) 4:20 pm on December 3, 2010 Permalink | Reply

I like both teams. I’m slightly more partial to the Jets however. I don’t think its going to be a barn burner either.

I’m leaning heavily to wards Cutler at this point unless someone can convince me otherwise.

Hey Brandon, this isn’t really for Week 13, but was wondering what you think: Should I stash Collie on my bench? I’d drop Jacoby Ford. I’m in good shape with Jennings, Lloyd, and Welker, but want a decent bench option in case of injury during my playoffs. Thanks!

      • Brandon 2:25 pm on December 3, 2010 Permalink | Reply

If your league awards points for kick returns, then you might keep Ford, but otherwise I think you want to go with Collie. Ford is the ultimate hit-or-miss player, while Collie should be pretty consistent in a good passing offense that will be fighting for playoff positioning for the rest of the year. Of course, this all assumes he’s back starting this week and doesn’t get any more concussions 🙂

can u add WR’s: Calvin Johnson, Johnny Knox, and Nate Washington

and in a 2 RB, 2 WR, and 1 RB or WR Flex, what combination would u choose (5) out of Peyton Hillis, DMcFadden, Steven Jackson, TO, Calvin Johnson, Johnny Knox, and Nate Washington.

      My Options were:
      1. Hillis, S. Jackson, TO, Calvin, and Knox
      2. Hillis, S Jackson, McFadden, TO, Calvin
      3. Hillis, S Jackson, Knox, Calvin, Nate

      Thanks!!

      • Brandon 2:22 pm on December 3, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Added those guys. As for your options, I vote for option #1 (Megatron, T.O. and Knox.) As someone who has Darren McFadden on their team, I kind of hope I’m wrong on this one and it turns out that DMc has a big game, but it’s not looking promising after two bad games and the Chargers this week.

      could you pls add:
      kitna, fitzpatrick, mark sanchez,
randy moss, donald driver, nate burleson, jacoby ford, louis murphy, dexter mccluster, naanee, earl bennett [who would you do for WR3 behind Roddy and Stevie Johnson?
forsett (so much for having AP, charles, mcfadden)
      giants DEF

what is going on with mcfadden? is it time to dump any WASHINGTON back?
thanks! (lost last week bc Stevie johnson dropped the game winner!

      • Brandon 2:36 pm on December 3, 2010 Permalink | Reply

I added those players. Tough break about “Stevie” Johnson (not sure when he became Steve and not just Steve, hah. There are rumors that McFadden has reverted back to a Laurence Maroney-style of running, where he dances around and doesn’t hit the hole with guns a blazin’…but hopefully he can snap out of it. This week against the Chargers though I’m not all that excited about his chances. As for Washington’s running game, it’s a big mess. Hopefully there are other options so you don’t have to even think about it. Good luck!

Who do you start this week: Big Ben or Joe Flacco. I know that matchup is terrible for me but I need to start one of these guys.

      • Brandon 2:19 pm on December 3, 2010 Permalink | Reply

I’m going with Flacco. Apparently Roethlisberger has a broken bone in his foot and while it won’t stop him from playing, it could hamper his ability to scramble or run any quarterback sneaks. The Steelers pass defense isn’t perfect, so Flacco should get some chances to score. Good luck!

Any chance of ranking mike williams (sea)? I have to choose between Mike Williams, Malcom Floyd or Blair White (if collie is out).

      • Brandon 10:16 am on December 5, 2010 Permalink | Reply

I’ll try to get him on there before game time, but between those three guys, I think I’d roll with Blair White, as it seems that Collie will be out. Williams is returning from injury and who knows how he’ll hold up. Floyd is also a little tweaked and hasn’t proven that he’s ready to produce in this offense quite yet. They all have the chance for a big game, but I like White’s chances the most to at least find the endzone. Good luck!

also do you think McDaniels in a desperation move might pull Orton and play Tebow in order to save his job?

          • Brandon 12:52 pm on December 5, 2010 Permalink | Reply

I can’t see that happening. Orton has been playing great this year and there’s no way McDaniels thinks Tebow gives the team a better chance to win. The defense needs to step up if they want to save his job.

          • Sloth 12:55 pm on December 5, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Ok, Thank you. now to start Orton or Bradford, i love the match up against the Cards. But does Orton put on a show like he did last time he played the Chiefs?

MNF Dilemma: Up by 12pts. All Sunday players done.
He has: Sanchez AND Tate AND Edwards
      I have: Branch OR Holmes.

      Who do I start tomorrow?

      • Brandon 11:07 am on December 6, 2010 Permalink | Reply

I think you have to go with Santonio Holmes. The Patriots pass defense is terrible and Darrelle Revis could be covering Branch. Good luck though!

That being said, I hope Branch blows up and the Patriots win HUGE!
