User Requested Player Ranks – Week 14
This year we’re trying something a little different when it comes to player rankings. We’re letting our readers decide which players show up on the lists. This means less work for me (or at least spreads out the work) while ensuring that all requested players show up on the lists and all quandaries are resolved. Hopefully last weeks rankings helped at least a few teams out there win their match-ups and hopefully this week’s do the same!
Remember, if you have any Flex slot questions, continue to post those as comments and we can respond to them individually. Anyways, feel free to start posting your line-up questions, along with any questions/comments about this new format. This week I’ve kicked off the lists with the top five players from last week at each position. You can find the spreadsheet after the jump. (More …)

Hi Brandon,
Quick flex spot questions for you: Who would you start between Ahmad Bradshaw and Fred Jackson? I have Arian Foster and Michael Tunrer already penciled in as my two starting backs. Thanks for the help!!
Brandon 10:23 am on December 9, 2010 Permalink |
Got Fred Jackson and Ahmad Bradshaw on the list now. Based on last week, you would think it was crazy to recommend Jackson, but there are a few factors to consider: 1) Jackson was doing well before last week, 2) Buffalo plays at home and it’ll be cold, so lots of running probably, 3) Bradshaw splits carries pretty evenly with Brandon Jacobs, and 4) Bradshaw is on the road against a tough Vikings run defense. Too bad you can’t start them all, but I think Bradshaw sees his way to the bench this week.

Could you rank Mario Manningham @ MIN and Michael Crabtree vs. SEA? Who would you rather have for playoffs? Cheers.
Brandon 10:46 am on December 9, 2010 Permalink |
Got Crabtree ranked higher this week against a bad Seahawks pass defense. Although I’m not diggin’ the coach’s thoughts on picking a starting QB on a week-to-week basis, I think Crabtree has the most potential through the playoffs as the top (or 1B to Vernon Davis’ 1A) target in the offense. Manningham hasn’t done much as the top target, but maybe it’ll actually help when Nicks or Smith return to the offense. Anyways, good luck!

Knox or T.O?
Thank you!

Got them on there, so it the ranks should answer your questions 🙂

Alright, I’ve got a whole lot for you this week…
Can you add Kitna, Garrard, Fitzpatrick, Brian Westbrook, Ryan Mathews, DeSean Jackson, Mike Thomas, Hakeem Nicks, Steve Smith, Zach Miller, and the Tampa Bay Defense.
Thanks!
Brandon 4:17 pm on December 9, 2010 Permalink |
All of these guys should be on there now. Nicks and Smith are big question marks at this point until we know exactly what is going on with them.
Brian 8:39 pm on December 8, 2010 Permalink |
RB:
Mendy
Moreno
Rice
WR
Megatron
Wallace
S Rice
TE
Watson
Hernandez
Thanks guys!
Brandon 4:16 pm on December 9, 2010 Permalink |
Just finished adding all these guys. Good luck!
Duncan 9:07 pm on December 8, 2010 Permalink |
RB Anthony Dixon
WR Miles Austin
WR Santana Moss
Also, some advice on flex…I need to start three of the following (only 1 can be a RB): A. Bradshaw, C. Ivory, W. Welker, Sidney Rice, Santana Moss and/or M. Austin. Any thoughts?
Brandon 11:21 am on December 9, 2010 Permalink |
Added those guys. At flex, I’d go with Bradshaw, Austin and Welker. I know it’s tough to bench Sidney Rice after his performance last game, but with Favre potentially starting and the team playing the Giants, his numbers could dip a bit. I’m hoping the reverse is true for Austin, with his numbers getting boosted by Bryant’s absence. Good luck!
Duncan 9:15 pm on December 8, 2010 Permalink |
Also, if Nicks is able to play, do I start him over Austin? I know they will both be in your rankings but I’m assuming you will rank Nicks according to his current status which is questionable. Thanks!
Brandon 11:09 am on December 9, 2010 Permalink |
I’d start Miles Austin, especially with Dez Bryant out now. Austin becomes the top target in the offense, while we still don’t even know if Nicks is going to play.
Danny 10:01 pm on December 8, 2010 Permalink |
Andre Johnson
Brandon 10:49 am on December 9, 2010 Permalink |
Just added him.

Limped into the playoffs…
I saw a few of these WRs already requested:
> Earl Bennett
> Jabar Gaffney
> Steve Smith (NYG)
> Manningham
> Hakeem Nicks
DEFs: Saints, Falcons.
Thanks!
Brandon 11:08 am on December 9, 2010 Permalink |
Got them on there e-roc. Steve Smith and Hakeem Nicks are at the bottom of the WR rankings though, since I have no clue if they’ll even play. I’ll try to adjust accordingly as I find more news.
e-roc 5:14 pm on December 10, 2010 Permalink |
Guh…. thanks for getting them on the list… It appears that they’re all going to play now.
Hawgman 5:39 am on December 9, 2010 Permalink |
QB – Roethlisberger, Orton
RB – Steven Jackson, Felix Jones, McFadden, Hillis, Woodhead
WR – Andre Johnson, Boldin, Welker, Woodhead, Manningham, Bennett, Collie, Nate Washington
D/ST – Chicago, Cleveland
Thanks!
Brandon 11:35 am on December 9, 2010 Permalink |
I think I got them all on there now 🙂
Rev. Benjamin 8:55 am on December 9, 2010 Permalink |
Please add these guys!
RB: Keiland Williams, Arian Foster, LT, Shonn Greene, Tashard Choice, Ryan Torrain, Pierre Thomas, Anthony Dixon
WR: Wes Welker, Danny Woodhead (or RB, whichever)
QB: Drew Brees, Tom Brady
TE: Benjamin Watson, Jacob Tamme, Visanthe Shiancoe
D: Steelers, San Diego, Chicago
Also, Torrain’s open in my league, and I’m sitting on Williams. Would you drop KW for RT? Also, Roy Williams is out there, and with Nicks hurt I’m kind of going 100% Patriots WR hahaha. And what do you think of the whole LT situation… I almost feel like playing Foster/Torrain/Choice. And I’m feeling like with Westbrook’s prime far gone, it may be time for Anthony Dixon (who had a great preseason) to shine. Many questions! Good news is I somehow drafted near identical in two leagues, and I’ve rode the Nicks/Foster train to the playoffs!
Brandon 4:54 pm on December 9, 2010 Permalink |
Just added those players. As for Torain vs Williams, there’s really no way to know how the split will go with Mike Shanahan running the show. With Torain healthy though I’m leaning towards him getting more carries. At WR, I like Roy Williams over Danny Woodhead and even like Nicks more than Woodhead if it’s confirmed that Nicks is playing. At running back, if you’re starting three, you might go with Foster, LT and Choice. I’d put in Torain over Choice if it’s confirmed that he’s the starter, but even then, it’s not by that much. Good luck however you end up picking them!
Rev. Benjamin 5:42 pm on December 9, 2010 Permalink |
Right on. Thank you Brandon! Best of luck for your leagues too!
Corey 10:40 am on December 9, 2010 Permalink |
Last one: Jason Whitten vs. Daniel Graham and Ben Roethlisberger vs. Joe Flacco?
Brandon 10:54 am on December 9, 2010 Permalink |
Daniel Graham? For serious?! Go with Witten every day of the week and twice on Sundays, especially with Dez Bryant out. As for quarterback, just adding them now…
Corey 11:20 am on December 9, 2010 Permalink |
Hahahaha completely mixed up former Patriots TE’s. Meant to say Ben Watson. Are you still taking Witten over Watson?
Brandon 4:16 pm on December 9, 2010 Permalink |
He’s on there too now!
Joe 10:52 am on December 9, 2010 Permalink |
Michael Vick, Greg Jennings, Arian Foster, Alanta DEF, Denver DEF
Brandon 11:00 am on December 9, 2010 Permalink |
Just added them. Love Vick, Jennings and Denver this week…and also think Foster and the Falcons should do alright.
steve 10:57 am on December 9, 2010 Permalink |
Please add Meachem, Jacoby Ford, Tampa Bay D, and Ivory. Thanks.
Brandon 11:04 am on December 9, 2010 Permalink |
Just added them…see what you think.
Tony 12:09 pm on December 9, 2010 Permalink |
Can you add the gents on this list not already on the list? Thanks.
QB Peyton Manning
QB Tarvaris Jackson
WR DeSean Jackson
WR Stevie Johnson
RB Jamaal Charles
RB Christopher Ivory
TE Jacob Tamme
W/T Vernon Davis
W/R Santonio Holmes
W/R Sidney Rice
Bench
QB Drew Stanton
RB Toby Gerhart
WR Deion Branch
RB James Starks
Can you then advise if I need to make any changes other than closely watching Favre’s playing status this weekend?
Thanks again!!
-T
Brandon 4:37 pm on December 9, 2010 Permalink |
No changes necessary as long as Favre doesn’t play. Otherwise, seems you’re stuck with Drew Stanton…yikes! (Not that T-Jack is much less risky)
jack 1:00 pm on December 9, 2010 Permalink |
hey Brandon
CRUCIAL quarterfinal game this weekend, pummeled this guy last time around (he had vick 1 week after his 60 pt game). he already has vick/rodgers (your 1-2 for QBs) then he picked up my man Starks! and choice! picked everyone up.
could pls you add:
darren mcfadden, AP, Torain train, jahvid best, (AP, Jamaal charles, run DMC only clicked last week, do you dare play torain or best?)
kitna, fitzpatrick, (How can you win with these as QBs?) dropped sanchez after mon night
Denver Def
pettigrew
Amendola, Donald driver, jacoby ford, seyi, nate burleson. Need 2 to go w/ roddy, who is projected not to have such a great game either? it may snow for Stevie johnsons game right?
Thanks!
Brandon 9:34 am on December 10, 2010 Permalink |
Got all those guys on the list now. I think the rankings should answer all your questions?
As for Stevie Johnson, here’s the forecast as of now:

Philadelphia DEF
Brandon 4:16 pm on December 9, 2010 Permalink |
Added Philly…but not big on them this week
TJ 3:33 pm on December 9, 2010 Permalink |
Hey Brandon – Could you add LT, Choice, TB’s M Williams, Blair White.
Also – Jacob Tamme is listed as questionable (knee), he was limited yesterday, have found no substantial updates for today yet. I have Vernon Davis waiting……… would hate to lose out on a late scratch or re-aggravation tonight.
Brandon 3:48 pm on December 9, 2010 Permalink |
I just moved Tamme based on the fact that the Colts are playing tonight and at this point he’s still questionable. It’s not worth the risk, plus I hate starting players on Thursday. I’ll add the other guys in a bit. Good luck!
Brandon 4:14 pm on December 9, 2010 Permalink |
Just hearing that apparently Tamme will play tonight, so you’re probably safe to start him…

TJ 5:23 pm on December 9, 2010 Permalink |
But should I? I hate starting guys on Thursday too……. Vernon Davis isn’t too bad of an alternative, although you’d think the Seattle D might be keying in on him this week….. Which one would you start?
Brandon 9:14 am on December 10, 2010 Permalink |
What’d you end up doing? Hopefully you didn’t start him based on his numbers…which you’ll now have to worry about all the way until Sunday if you did 🙁
TJ 12:00 pm on December 10, 2010 Permalink |
Went with my gut and stuck with Davis – looks like the right call so far! Now only need to worry about Roddy White and Ray Rice not showing up. Hate to sit Roddy, but I’ve got a bad feeling about him this week.
Brandon 12:02 pm on December 10, 2010 Permalink |
No way you can bench Roddy White after what he’s done for you this season. Hopefully he and Ray Rice (who I would also appreciate) will reward you with some big time performances!
Steve 1:37 pm on December 10, 2010 Permalink |
Please add Vincent Jackson. Thanks.
Brandon 11:56 am on December 12, 2010 Permalink |
He’s on there now. Not sure I trust him after his last appearance, but you could start him if you’re in a bind.
Eric 9:39 pm on December 11, 2010 Permalink |
Having trouble choosing between Floyd, Ochocinco, and Starks for my final slot. What do you think?
Brandon 11:55 am on December 12, 2010 Permalink |
I’d roll with Malcom Floyd. Starks could be used a lot against the Lions, but Floyd has the highest ceiling. Brandon Funston from Yahoo even ranks him as the #6 receiver this week!

Good luck
