    Happy Birthday to Matt

Hopefully all of our readers can join me in wishing my co-blogger a happy birthday! I think he’s around 40 or so at this point. Unfortunately, my birthday gift to him was a one way ticket out of the playoffs in our fantasy football league, but at least Michael Vick was kind enough to score him nearly 50 points.

      Son of a…

      It’s 30. I’m 30. Not 40.

I seem to remember 30. It was 1996…I think.
        Happy BD!!
I was hoping for tickets to the Lions/Vikings game (on my BD) so I could see the end of Farve’s career (for this season anyway), but that game may not even be watchable now.

    Week 15 FAIL: Minnesota Vikings

Here are a few players who just didn’t quite live up to expectations this week. Were they over-rated to begin with? Did they just have a bad game? Were they benched because their team was dominating (or getting dominated?) It’s probably just a one week mishap, but if they land on this list a couple weeks in a row, you might start worrying! Anyways, feel free to add to the discussion with your own. Maybe someone that you blame this week’s loss on?

This semi-final week is headlined by a team that tried their hardest to screw as many people in the fantasy football world as possible…the Minnesota Vikings. First Yahoo goes and makes alleged starting quarterback Joe Webb eligible at the wide receiver position, tickling the fancy of team managers looking to sneak attack their way into the championship. The Vikings had plans of their own however. After listing Brett Favre as “Out” earlier in the week, they surprisingly upgrade him to “questionable” the day before the game (after waivers were locked in many leagues.) Those hoping to play Joe Webb immediately start panicking. To make matters worse, the team deactivates star running back Adrian Peterson a couple hours before gametime, screwing over the team managers who weren’t able to secure Toby Gerhart as his hand-cuff ahead of time. Anyways, Favre goes out and gets hurt and Joe Webb doesn’t impress, as the entire team rolls out a mediocre offense and a terrible defense. The Vikings are potentially the worst team in the league right now and have some serious issues heading into next season. FAIL.

I’ve included the entire season count of FAIL’s as a separate worksheet in the spreadsheet, so you can click the “Season” tab and see where each player stacks up. As usual, drama-king himself, Brett Favre continues to lead the pack!

Anyways, here are the rest of them (and here’s a direct link to the spreadsheet)…

The excuse for Boldin should be shared by Vernon Davis. He tried to torpedo my team, but the Bears D/ST (thank you Devin Hester!!) would not let him. Onward to the CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

The crazy part is that I had both T.O. and Anquan Boldin…but still pulled off the victory due to my dominant running backs. Now that I don’t have to worry about T.O. this week it should be a little easier. What to do with Boldin is still a question though…

My WR crew has Manningham (@ GB but w/o Steve Smith), Welker & Woodhead (@ Fluffalo), Boldin (@ Cleveland), Collie (@ the ER), and Andre Johnson (vs _enver).
Boldin will be on my bench where he can do the least amount of damage. I have Andre, Welker and Woody in the line-up, but still thinking about Manningham in Woody’s spot just in case the Pats get stopped by the Bills. (take a deep breath & quit laughing!! I just don’t like putting all my eggs in one basket). ;-D

Depends on your league rules, but if you’re in a keeper league, this is the time to be scooping up potential prospects for next season! Maybe Tim Tebow or Colt McCoy strike your fancy? Maybe you think the Raiders bring in a better quarterback and Jacoby Ford becomes a consistent fantasy force? Whatever your thoughts, make a move on the waiver wire this week before you lose your chance!

The Wire – Week 16 pick-ups: Good luck in the Championship!

Not a whole lot to say here regarding waiver wire pick-ups. At this point, if you’re relying on the waiver wire to carry you to victory, you’re in serious trouble. However, maybe you just need to upgrade one minor spot to give you that tiny edge you need to advance to the next round. As always, we’ve included the percentage owned (taken from Yahoo.) Take a look and see if any of these guys can help patch your squad together and carry you to the Promised Land…

Brett Favre upgraded to Questionable for tonight's game

Attention all you Joe Webb-ers out there…make sure to keep a close eye on the Minnesota quarterback situation as we get closer to game time. Apparently the Vikings have upgraded Brett Favre from OUT to QUESTIONABLE. While I find it “questionable” that they would be allowed to do such a thing, apparently they gave the Bears the heads up and they were alright with the idea that Favre might play. I’m hearing that Favre will take some time to throw between 2-3 hours before game-time to see if he can play or not, which would mean Joe Webb takes the reins.

This is obviously horrible news for those who were banking on Joe Webb as a WR. Hopefully your league allows you to pick up a free agent before game-time if necessary, someone like Devin Hester maybe. Anyways, I’ll try to keep everyone updated on the situation, but just a heads up!

Score! I won the FFGeekBlog.com Bowl against Matt and now get to play my old college roommate in the championship.

Score! Woke up this morning and found out I’m in another semi matchup. I went against Mendenhall and I saw the video of the phantom 1st down and thought it should have been corrected, but by Thursday morning – it hadn’t been corrected. But sometime on Thursday, they did mention that Mendenhall would only get 99 yards. In my league, you get a 5 FP (fantasy points) boost if a running back goes over 100 yards rushing … I had originally lost by 3 points … woke up this morning and I won by 2, w00t!
