User Requested Player Rankings – Week 1
As with last year, instead of automatically ranking every player at every position (like the big sites with the big bucks do
), I’ll be ranking all requested players against other requested players. For example, if you have four wide receivers and you’re trying to fill three spots, you just comment with the four names and I’ll rank them against eachother. In essence, this will accomplish the same thing as if you were to scan a complete list of wide receivers for where your four guys rank. Anyways, feel free to start submitting names for me to rank for week one of the 2011-12 season! I’ll start the list off with a few guys on my own teams (after the jump)…

Calvin Johnson… sorry about that

Actually I changed my mind and recommend Bradshaw over Moreno…just to confuse things!

Blount, D Williams, D Thomas, F Jones, Moreno.

Start which 2 of these 3: Roddy White, Mike Wallace, Kenny Britt
Brandon 2:29 pm on September 7, 2011 Permalink |
Just added them. Go Roddy White and Mike Wallace to start and see how Britt does with Matt Hasselbeck at QB.
Hugh 2:10 pm on September 7, 2011 Permalink |
I’m nervous about Austin/F. Jones going up against the JETS
Need to fill 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 RB/WR from the following…
Mendenhall, Felix Jones, Hightower, Tolbert
Miles Austin, Roddy White, Kenny Britt
Brandon 2:34 pm on September 7, 2011 Permalink |
Just put those guys on there. As for your starters, go Mendenhall, Hightower, White, Britt and gamble with Felix Jones in the flex spot. You got some tough match-ups there though!
Barry 2:48 pm on September 7, 2011 Permalink |
Two dilemmas in a PPR:
One WR/TE between : Antonio Gates, Mike A. Williams, Mario Manningham
One RB between : Felix Jones, Ryan Mathews, Tim Hightower
Brandon 3:15 pm on September 7, 2011 Permalink |
I’d probably go with Antonio Gates and Tim Hightower. On any other week, I’d pick Felix Jones over Hightower, but the Jets match-up scares me. As for the WR/TE spot, you have some great options, but Gates is most likely to find the endzone. Who are your starters other than these guys?
Barry 3:45 pm on September 7, 2011 Permalink |
I have LeSean McCoy for my other RB spot
Roddy White + Larry Fitzgerald for my two other WR/TE spots…
(don’t be fooled, it is a keeper league so I already had LeSean before drafting… RWhite&Fitz were my 1st and 2nd rnd picks…)
And Tony Romo as my QB
Barry 3:47 pm on September 7, 2011 Permalink |
Mike A. Williams was also one of my keeper… Don’t you think Jets Defense might be down a little bit this year with Shaun Ellis departure…?
Kate 1:57 am on September 8, 2011 Permalink
Not with Leonard back with Leonard they are solid!!
Brandon 11:37 am on September 8, 2011 Permalink
I agree with Kate. I don’t see them dropping off all that much, at least in terms of stopping the run and shutting down top receivers.
420ALLSTAR 3:13 pm on September 7, 2011 Permalink |
two of these three wr’s Roddy, Dez, Britt,
two of these four rb’s S Greene, MJD, Ingram, J-stew
Brandon 3:24 pm on September 7, 2011 Permalink |
Just put them on there. Got Roddy and Britt as your two wide outs, but it’s only by a hair with Britt. As for the running backs, I got MJD and Greene. Good luck!
420ALLSTAR 3:32 pm on September 7, 2011 Permalink |
whats your reasoning for Britt over Dez? I fear rust and lack of training camp will slow britt down to start the year??
Brandon 3:40 pm on September 7, 2011 Permalink |
Mostly based on how good the Jets cornerbacks are. Maybe Revis covers Miles Austin and Dez gets open a couple times against Cromartie, but if Revis covers Dez, then it could be tough going. Even with some soreness, I figure Britt is the primary target in the Titans passing game and the Jags don’t figure to be great against the pass.
Brandon 3:43 pm on September 7, 2011 Permalink |
Although ESPN’s Matthew Berry thinks Bryant will have a great game and Britt will struggle (the other guys agree with me.) Just to make things more clear for you
Boogie Boogie 3:15 pm on September 7, 2011 Permalink |
Josh Freeman or Ben Roethlisberger? (I have a feeling this is a predicament I’ll be having all year)

3. benjarvus green-ellis, joseph addai, danny woodhead, willis mcgahee, ben tate
Brandon 10:07 am on September 8, 2011 Permalink |
Just added all these guys, so take a look. Keep in mind that at the moment I’m not quite sure how to rank Ben Tate. If Arian Foster plays or not makes a HUGE difference, so keep checking on that situation.
Douglas 4:22 pm on September 7, 2011 Permalink |
Colston or Bryant?
Moreno or Bradshaw?
Brandon 10:10 am on September 8, 2011 Permalink |
Got Colston ahead of Bryant by a few spots, but both have terrible match-ups. At running back, both guys have pretty good match-ups actually, but I’m leaning towards Moreno at the moment. We’ll learn how much the team plans to use Willis McGahee in this first game, so that could affect how you pick them after week 1.
Brandon 2:22 pm on September 8, 2011 Permalink |
I responded to this somewhere else, but I changed my recommendation to Bradshaw over Moreno. It’s close though.
Donovan 6:02 pm on September 7, 2011 Permalink |
Marshawn Lynch or Reggie Bush?
Brandon 9:25 am on September 8, 2011 Permalink |
I’d gamble on Reggie Bush. It’ll be interesting to see how the team uses him and you don’t want to miss out if he has a huge game in his debut. Especially go with Bush if your league is PPR.
Dan 7:43 pm on September 7, 2011 Permalink |
James Starks or Michael Bush
Brandon 9:30 am on September 8, 2011 Permalink |
It’s close…and I hate playing guys in Thursday games, but I give the edge to Starks. However, with the Broncos defense being so bad against the run last year and Bush playing late Monday night, I’d probably still go with Bush if it were my team
Natalie 8:49 pm on September 7, 2011 Permalink |
Hey Brandon!
I am having trouble with my flex position: I have Moss, Collie, Bess, Branch, or LD (Tomlinson) to play in this spot. Who do you vote for????
Brandon 2:32 pm on September 8, 2011 Permalink |
Hey Natalie, I’m voting for Santana Moss, although it’s close between he and LT. I’m still curious how much impact LT will have at this point, while Moss should get plenty of looks.
Natalie 8:52 pm on September 8, 2011 Permalink |
That’s so funny Brandon! I moved Moss in my flex spot over LD right before I posted this question! You know what they say about great minds!
Brandon 11:15 am on September 12, 2011 Permalink |
Looking at LT’s rushing numbers, you’d think we made the right decision…but then he almost caught for as many yards as Moss. Similar numbers though, so hard to complain!
Rick 9:27 pm on September 7, 2011 Permalink |
Need 2 RB , 2 WR and 1 flex, R. Rice, Blount, BJGE, Britt, V. Jackson and Manningham. .5 ppr
Brandon 9:46 am on September 8, 2011 Permalink |
I have to respectfully disagree slightly with Natalie below. I like Rice and Blount at RB, V-Jax and Manningham at WR, then BenJarvus Green-Ellis as the flex. Britt is still nursing an injury that gives me reason for concern. If he comes out with a huge game this week though, you might have to start playing him as your flex.
Natalie 8:57 pm on September 8, 2011 Permalink |
We’ll see, but I think Britt will get most of the receptions in Tennessee. Forgot about his injury though so you never know. Last year I benched him the week he went nuts and scored major fantasy points.
Natalie 10:33 pm on September 11, 2011 Permalink |
I hope you listened to me and played Britt! Sorry Brandon, I had to rub it in a little!
Brandon 11:16 am on September 12, 2011 Permalink
Hah, you win this round
Britt had a pretty strange game, scoring on a huge bomb and a really short pass. Without that bomb his numbers are pretty pedestrian…but you have to count the bomb!
jmac 9:33 pm on September 7, 2011 Permalink |
Who would u go with?…F. Jones, Hightower or B. Jacobs?? I need 1 to pair with J. Charles.
Brandon 9:45 am on September 8, 2011 Permalink |
On most weeks, I’m thinking you’ll want to go with Felix Jones, but for this week I’d go with Tim Hightower. Felix’ match-up isn’t great against the Jets. Jacobs would be an interesting play, but we need to see how the split with Ahmad Bradshaw goes.
jmac 1:20 pm on September 8, 2011 Permalink |
Thank you for confirming that. I was leaning that way. What do you think about sitting Big Ben and starting Kolb against Carolina??
Brandon 2:31 pm on September 8, 2011 Permalink |
I advise against it

Brandon 11:17 am on September 12, 2011 Permalink |
Hard to predict Big Ben would log one of the worst starts of his career! Let’s revisit this question next week.
Natalie 9:37 pm on September 7, 2011 Permalink |
Rick: This is a no-brainer. Ray Rice and Blount RB’s. Britt and Jackson WR’s. BJGE as your flex.

PPR league…need 2 rbs, 2 wrs and 1 flex…….R. Mendenhall, R. Rice, R. Bush……B. Lloyd, B. Marshall, M. Manningham. Thanks……Great site.
Brandon 9:51 am on September 8, 2011 Permalink |
I’d go Mendenhall and Rice at RB, Lloyd and Marshall at WR and Manningham in the flex. Good luck!

davone bess, jacoby ford, danny amendola – 0.5 / ppr, 25 / return yards. thanks!
Brandon 9:38 am on September 8, 2011 Permalink |
I’m not expecting a ton of returns this year with the new kick off rule, so I’d go Bess, Amendola and Ford in that order.
Mal 12:41 am on September 8, 2011 Permalink |
WR#2 Colston / Bryant
Flex Ryan Grant, J Stew, Colston/Bryant
Brandon 10:06 am on September 8, 2011 Permalink |
I like Jonathan Stewart’s match-up, but if you want the most upside I guess you go with Marques Colston and Dez Bryant. Good luck!
Mal 7:45 pm on September 8, 2011 Permalink |
First year with a Flex, I assumed go with the RB for consistency.
I’m in limbo here for the Flex!!! I’m risk averse especially seeing my team is strong. Could you give me a quick rundown of your reasoning for Grant v Stewart?
Thanks
Brandon 3:28 pm on September 9, 2011 Permalink |
My reasoning = last night
Starks is the better tailback on the Packers, who are a pass-first team to begin with.

Please add: RBs McFadden & Ingram, WRs S Holmes, MSW, Jacoby Ford, TE Kendricks, J Cook, D/St CLE.

Hernandez and Cook. Kendricks is close as well, but still leaning towards Cook. I’ll add your other players to the list shortly too!

That’s a tough one. I like Dwayne Bowe this week, but I think he’s the odd man out. I figure DeAngelo Williams will get the ball non-stop and Jacobs has a good match-up and says he’s feeling great. Who are your other WR and RB that you can’t play all of them?

Brandon 3:30 pm on September 9, 2011 Permalink |
If someone likes Benson in your league, you could package him with Brandon Lloyd (who I see dropping off a bit this year) for someone like Darren McFadden maybe? If the guys with the top WR in the league are shallow at the position, maybe you can pull off some crazy Brandon Lloyd + Santana Moss for Larry Fitzgerald trade or something. Just spit-ballin’ here…
