User Requested Player Rankings – Week 3
As with last year, instead of automatically ranking every player at every position (like the big sites with the big bucks do
), I’ll be ranking all requested players against other requested players. For example, if you have four wide receivers and you’re trying to fill three spots, you just comment with the four names and I’ll rank them against eachother. In essence, this will accomplish the same thing as if you were to scan a complete list of wide receivers for where your four guys rank. I’ll start the list off with a few guys that were on the list last week.
Here’s a link to the Google Doc spreadsheet for those viewing on mobile devices. Anyways, feel free to start submitting names for me to rank! Just a disclaimer…I’m more likely to put your players on the list faster if you just give me a couple names to compare. When you comment with your entire team, it makes me less likely to get the players listed until the very last minute. (View the rankings after the jump)…
Dennis 3:10 pm on September 21, 2011 Permalink |
Can you rank Robert Meachem, Percy Harvin and Dexter McCluster (as WR)? I am torn on who to start this week as my third WR. Also, Chargers D?
Is Ryan Grant even worth ranking/keeping at this point?
Mal 6:13 pm on September 21, 2011 Permalink |
Dennis I just dropped Grant yesterday, I think he is next to useless. Waste of a bench spot- even if Starks gets injured AROD airs it out big time! Surely you have better options!

Brandon 2:54 pm on September 22, 2011 Permalink |
Just finished adding them. My vote is for Meachem, who has the highest ceiling of the three. As for Ryan Grant, if you have a halfway decent alternative on free agency, feel free to grab him.

The Packers have given up over 400 yards passing each week so far, so I have to go with Cutler (plus I still don’t trust Dalton.)

Who has more long-term chance of being a solid fantasy RB: Hightower, Starks, or Tate?
Brandon 9:36 am on September 22, 2011 Permalink |
At this point I’m the most confident in Hightower, as Starks plays on a pass-first team and Tate is still going to have to split carries with Arian Foster (when he’s actually healthy.) As long as Hightower doesn’t fumble away his job, it’s his to lose.

how about plaxico, nate burleson, mike thomas, aj green, davone bess.. thnaks! this is assuming nonppr, right?
Brandon 10:30 am on September 22, 2011 Permalink |
Yeah it’s kind of a combination of PPR and non-PPR. If you have a league that is PPR though, let me know in the comment and I can customize the suggestion. If a guy catches lots of passes, the odds are that I’ll move him up anyways because he’s more likely to put up stats as well.
I’ll add these guys to the list shortly…

WR’s Jabar Gaffney or Brandon LaFell weeks 3-5 as a WR3, standard league?
Week 3 RB’s: Fred Jackson, Steven Jackson, Mark Ingram, Reggie Bush, Delone Carter, pick three in order of pref
Brandon 2:57 pm on September 22, 2011 Permalink |
I’m leaning towards LaFell, as he has more upside than Gaffney, who has probably already reached his potential with Rex Grossman. As for the running backs, Steven Jackson probably won’t play again (or he’ll be limited) so don’t play him. For your three, I’d go Fred Jackson, Reggie Bush and Mark Ingram. Good luck!
Duncan 8:21 pm on September 21, 2011 Permalink |
At QB, Shaub vs Fitzpatrick
At RB, Hightower, Cadillac Williams, Green-Ellis, Ryan Matthews, DeAngelo Williams, and Ryan Starks.
Also, assuming they are both healthy, Hakeem Nicks or Dez Bryant (assuming Romo is also healthy)?

Brandon 10:21 am on September 22, 2011 Permalink |
It’s tough to play Gore after how bad he’s been so far, but I think I’d go AP, Gore and Sproles in the flex. Sproles has upside, but is riskier than McGahee and Thomas…but both of them could be splitting carries.

RB2 Hillis
WR1 VJax
WR2 Bryant

RB/WR/TE Gronkowski

Brandon 10:29 am on September 22, 2011 Permalink |
I wouldn’t do it. Then you’ll have to rely on Bowe to carry your WR corps, which is pretty risky this year. You’ll also have to decide whether to play Tate or Foster every week, which will be a pain. You don’t have a ton of depth for trades without giving up a key player, but I’d keep V-Jax and hope that he, Brady, Hillis and Gronk can carry your team.

I’ve got 2 Cadillac Williams and Dexter McCluster on my bench. McGahee is on the Wire. Do you think that McGahee is a better bench guy than either of the two that I already have or should I hold on to what I’ve got?
Thanks!
Brandon 3:17 pm on September 22, 2011 Permalink |
He could be better than Williams. If you don’t need Cadillac this week, then I’m thinking Steven Jackson will return and take away his value. McGahee should keep value though as Moreno is always an injury threat and isn’t that good to begin with.

Shonn Greene. It would be Lloyd, but I’m worried about his injury and he has a bad match-up. Helu is really only worth something if it turns out that Hightower can’t play (last week was an exception.)

WR2- Burleson, David Nelson, or Julio Jones
Flex RB/WR- Same guys above and Felix Jones
QB- Romo or Newton
Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

Here is my dilemma… I’m in a two QB league, and i have Romo, Kolb, Dalton (and currently Kitna) on the roster. Would you recommend starting Romo, and adding Kitna if he doesn’t go, or just starting Dalton? I know Romo has the upside, but i am worried that he will play and have to come out after a couple series leaving me with 3-4 points. Where with Dalton, i expect 10-12. What do you guys think?
Brandon 2:35 pm on September 23, 2011 Permalink |
I’d probably just go with Dalton. Romo is beat up, as is Dez Bryant and Miles Austin probably won’t be playing. Felix Jones is also banged up. Seems like a disaster waiting to happen.

Also is Dwayne Bowe start worthy this week over Danario Alexander?

Even though he’s playing the toughest run defense in the league, I think you go with Cedric Benson. At wide receiver, go with Bowe.

Hey brandon,
Just found this site after googling “Fred davis for Aaron Hernandez?” And that’s exactly my question. My league is PPR and I have Clark (lucky pick right?) Chandler, and Davis (just claimed). My potential trade partner initially offered me Shonn Green for Davis. I wrote back that Im interested in his Pitt D, AJ Green, Stevie Johnson, and Hernandez. Then I recalled pulling a similar move from a couple year back. i acquired frank gore on the cheap when he got hurt and I rode his end of the season explosion to a championship. Obviously Hernandez isn’t frank gore, but i figured i could nab hernandez, fill in with chandler or clark. What do you think? Should I ask for more? Are you wondering why i have three TE’s? (me 2) Should I wait a week to see if Davis goes big against Dallas?
Thanks!
David
David 5:13 pm on September 23, 2011 Permalink |
It might be worthwhile to list our teams (PPR league) for more context:
Me (number is #starters)
1 QB Vick, Newton
2 WR Jennings, Manningham, Holmes, Lance Moore,
2 RB MJD, D Thomas, Reggie Bush, Felix jones
1 TE: Clark, Chandler, Fred Davis
1 W/R
1 K Josh Brown
1 D San Diego
His team (he’s in first while im in last.. .for now…)
1 QB Rivers, Grossman
2 WR Jackson, AJ Green, Stevie Johnson, Burleson, Dez Bryant
2 RB Mccoy, Tate, Shonn Green, Steven Jackson
1 TE: Watson, Hernandez
1 W/R
1 K Hanson
1 D Pittsburgh

I think getting Hernandez is a great idea, so when he returns he can hold down your TE position again. I’m a little confused though. Can you get Greene and Hernandez for Fred Davis? If so, that’s a good deal.

One last thing – Gates is doubtful for sunday is cooley a good enough backup? Or should I try to get someone else off waivers???
Brandon 8:30 pm on September 24, 2011 Permalink |
Ben Tate and LeGarrette Blount. At flex, I’d go Stevie Johnson against a Pats pass defense that is getting lit up. As for tight end, Cooley isn’t even the best TE on his own team at this point. Who’s available of free agency?
Anthony 9:11 pm on September 24, 2011 Permalink |
I feel like Pats and Bills will be a shoot out. Thats why im leaning towards BJE. Yeah im gonna leave Stevie at flex cuz of what i just said. I picked up Jeff King of the Cardinals. He has a touchdown in both games and according to ESPN hes the go to guy in Arizonaland. I also picked up Eric Decker because Miles Austin is doubtful for Monday nights game

Matt Ryan really let me down, what’s up; with the Falcons?
Brandon 10:56 am on September 26, 2011 Permalink |
Yeah, but it’s hard to regret the Washington start when he probably got a boost in stats when Kenny Britt left the game. Next week though, Washington might get the call.
As for Matt Ryan, he did throw for 330 yards and a TD, so it’s hard to complain too much. Who was your alternative?
JanetJ 11:39 am on September 26, 2011 Permalink
Matty Ice had a pick or two and lost fumbles which cost points. He only got me 12 points on ESPN. I had Kolb as my alternative. I’m not sure how he did yesterday.
JanetJ 11:51 am on September 26, 2011 Permalink
Kolb only got 11 points. I thought he would be doing better by now. I didn’t do so well with my QBs in the ESPN league with Kolb and Ryan. I’m doing great in Yahoo league with Stafford and Fitzpatrick.
