User Requested Player Rankings – Week 4
As with last year, instead of automatically ranking every player at every position (like the big sites with the big bucks do
), I’ll be ranking all requested players against other requested players. For example, if you have four wide receivers and you’re trying to fill three spots, you just comment with the four names and I’ll rank them against eachother. In essence, this will accomplish the same thing as if you were to scan a complete list of wide receivers for where your four guys rank.
Here’s a link to the Google Doc spreadsheet for those viewing on mobile devices. Anyways, feel free to start submitting names for me to rank! I’ll start the list off with a few guys that were on the list last week.
Just a disclaimer…I’m more likely to put your players on the list faster if you just give me a couple names to compare. When you comment with your entire team, it makes me less likely to get the players listed until the very last minute. (View the rankings after the jump)…

I think most of these guys are on there. As for a W/R flex column…that probably won’t happen
Would take up too much time I think. I prefer to answer those questions in the comments so I know I don’t put in more effort than necessary.

Brandon 9:22 am on September 30, 2011 Permalink |
Hah, with the way receivers have been torching the Patriots defense, it’s hard to sit the Raiders biggest threat. Williams hasn’t done much over the past couple of weeks and it’s hard to see him with more upside than Moore this week.

Sophomore Slump = Mike Williams. Might be using him as trade bait.
Brandon 10:58 am on September 30, 2011 Permalink |
You might give him a week or so to have a solid game before trading him, but maybe you can find another owner who thinks he’s going to rebound big.

Not sure it’s as clear cut as JMC makes it seem
but as long as he stays healthy, Stafford should have an awesome year. Do you have other solid receivers so that Roddy White isn’t a huge loss? Does your league favor quarterbacks in terms of scoring?

what do you think of the same trade with mendenhall for ryan mathews added in?
Brandon 9:27 am on September 30, 2011 Permalink |
So you would get Stafford, Holmes and Mathews for Ryan, White and Mendenhall? I’m a little worried that your receiving corps will be so thin, but having Stafford and Mathews would be pretty awesome. Keep in mind you’re getting two very injury-prone guys in Stafford and Mathews though.

Not sure I’ve asked you this before, but is this a 4 team league or something? How do you have two top 5 RB’s, 2-3 top 5 WR’s, the top two TE’s and a great QB?!
Anyways, keep an eye on Jackson’s injury this week. If he plays, then roll with him and Fitz, but if for some reason he’s a late scratch, go with Finley obviously.

I have RB Rice, Lynch, Green Ellis, WR are Fitz, Desean, Manningham, Colston, Nate Washington. Thinking of trading Desean or Colston for CJ2K. Thoughts?
Brandon 1:06 pm on September 29, 2011 Permalink |
Sounds like a pretty good deal, as long as you can find some additional depth at wide receiver. I have to image that Chris Johnson’s numbers will go up over the course of the season and if he can return to a top 10 RB, then he and Ray Rice will hold it down for you.
Shane 2:20 pm on September 29, 2011 Permalink |
I need to pick up a TE because I can’t trust Gates to play. Who should I drop to make room – D. Henderson, Manningham, or James Stewart in my standard scoring league of 10.
Brandon 2:21 pm on September 29, 2011 Permalink |
What’s your depth at RB look like? I’m thinking Stewart is who I’m leaning towards, but Henderson could start losing looks with Marques Colston returning.
Shane 3:07 pm on September 29, 2011 Permalink |
I have CJ, Turner, Tate, Addai, Ingram and Stewart at RB and Mike Wallace, Maclin, N. Washington, Manningham and Henderson at WR. Not a lot of free agents left at RB in the league. Henderson has had (2) 100 yard games and 2 TD’s and Manningham hasn’t done much on a NYG up and down team but everyone seems to think Manningham has a big upside.
Brandon 9:59 am on September 30, 2011 Permalink |
Seems like you have some good depth at RB, so maybe drop Stewart. Henderson and Manningham could both turn out to be solid WR3′s this year and you’re more likely to start them than Stewart.
Brendan 3:47 pm on September 29, 2011 Permalink |
Can you rank Michael Turner? I have D. Thomas, Best, and Turner and can only start 2. Thanks.
Brandon 9:32 am on September 30, 2011 Permalink |
Just added him. I have Turner and Thomas at this point, but keep an eye on Daniel Thomas, as apparently his hamstring injury has come back to haunt him. If he ends up being scratched it makes it easy, but if he seems to be complaining still this weekend, you may put Best in there for him. Good luck!

Ben vs. Jason Campbell for QB and Brandon Lloyd vs. Deion Branch
Brandon 9:39 am on September 30, 2011 Permalink |
I’ve got Big Ben a couple spots ahead of Campbell this week. While Campbell IS playing the worst pass defense in the league, this seems like as good as any for New England to actually step up with a few big picks. At receiver, I have Brandon Lloyd way ahead of Deion Branch.
Martin 5:58 pm on September 29, 2011 Permalink |

Adam 6:02 pm on September 29, 2011 Permalink |
Hey Brandon – Interesting question for you…
In my league, which gives 1 point for every 20 return yards, Antonio brown is the #27th WR right now in fantasy points. That’s above Bowe, Nicks, Burleson, Branch, DeSean, etc. etc. Obviously, most of these other guys will pick it up and likely surpass him, but how much weight would you give to his return opportunities? Do teams usually stick with a return man for the season unless they start fumbling? Would you drop any of these for Brown in this league: Mike Thomas, Dexter McCluster, Henderson, Burleson?
Thanks!
Brandon 10:37 am on September 30, 2011 Permalink |
I think Antonio Brown will continue to increase his role in the passing game and his numbers could improve. I have no issue with you dropping Mike Thomas or even Nate Burleson for him.
David Lewis 9:01 pm on September 29, 2011 Permalink |
who should i use to trade. fred jackson, or peyton hillis? who do you think will have the better and more consistent season?
Brandon 9:50 am on September 30, 2011 Permalink |
Man, that’s a tough one. I guess I’d lean towards keeping Fred Jackson, who’s having a breakout year. The Bills offense seems to be rolling. Also Peyton Hillis’s name may carry more value in terms of trading as well. Who are you looking to target by trading one of them?

Brandon 10:00 am on September 30, 2011 Permalink |

Also, I can pick up Jacoby Ford but should I? If so, should I drop Johnny Knox or Antonio Brown? I’m in a PPR league.
Brandon 10:34 am on September 30, 2011 Permalink |
I’d keep Antonio Brown, but feel free to part ways with Knox. He’s only averaging 3 catches a game, so nothing special in terms of PPR. Jacoby Ford could be slightly riskier, but he’s got way more upside.

Neil 11:43 am on September 30, 2011 Permalink |
Hey Brandon, it’s me again. I got proposed a trade yesterday, but I don’t feel it is a move I *should* take.
Proposed Trade: Cam Newton and Carnell Williams for LeSean McCoy and Arian Foster.
My team is:
QB: Jay Cutler, Tarvaris Jackson (keeping in mind this is a 2QB league)
WR: Hakeen Nicks, Nate Burleson, Jordy Nelson, Mario Manningham, Torrey Smith
RB: LeSean McCoy, Beanie Wells, Bernard Scott, Arian Foster
TE: Jermichael Finley, Ed Dickson
K: Mason Crosby
D: Detroit
His team is:
QB: Cam Newton, Michael Vick, Matt Ryan
WR: Greg Jennings, Chad Ochocinco, Denarius Moore, Devin Hester, Mike Sims-Walker
RB: Jahvid Best, BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Carnell Williams, Knowshon Moreno, Danny Woodhead
TE: Jason Witten,
K: Robbie Gould
D: NY Giants
I feel that I am giving up a lot more than he is offering. What would you consider an “attractable” counter-offer. I realize that I do NEED a (much much much) better QB2, but I don’t know if it is worth giving up the #4 and #13 RB for Cam and an non-top20 RB in Carnell (who was limited in practice due to health issues).
As always, any help is GREATLY appreciated!
Brandon 11:50 am on September 30, 2011 Permalink |
Definitely do NOT take that trade as is. You’re giving up two potentially top 10 RB’s for an overachieving rookie QB and a backup RB. I guess it depends on who he values the most of his quarterbacks. Is Newton the one you can get the easiest? Can you get Matt Ryan for cheaper? Also, I would try to package Mario Manningham in the deal too to sweeten it, with maybe Sims-Walker in return. That way you break up your Giants receiver duo. If Cam Newton is the easiest to get, maybe something like this:
Arian Foster, Mario Manningham for Cam Newton and Sims-walker? You could replace Foster with McCoy I guess, but I’d recommend you hang onto him if you can. Either way, you shouldn’t give up one of your starting RB’s + more for Newton who’s value is pretty high still.
Neil 11:59 am on September 30, 2011 Permalink |
I could actually prolly get Ryan for cheaper. He starts Newton, and has Ryan on the Bench. Should I attempt a Ryan, Walker for Foster, Manningham, or is that too “generous” for Ryan?
Brandon 12:21 pm on September 30, 2011 Permalink |
You might hang on to what you have for a few more weeks. See if Arian Foster can build up some good numbers then possibly trade him straight up for a good QB…maybe to some other team if necessary. Can you stay put with Tarvaris Jackson for a few weeks?
Wendy 12:53 pm on September 30, 2011 Permalink |

Brandon 9:41 pm on September 30, 2011 Permalink |
I’m worried that Marques Colston steals some looks from Robert Meachem, but Henderson is the deep threat extraordinaire and he should still get his 60 yard bombs. Good luck!

Shane 1:53 pm on October 1, 2011 Permalink |
Yes, you are giving up too much for smith. try going after a top tier WR. Fitzgerald or Roddy or Jennings. Sit on Jahvid through the next two weeks and see if he has a great game. he might be enough value to trade straight up for on of those guys to the right buyer.

First time on this site, glad I found it. I need some help this week, 14 team league, PPR. I’ve had injuries left and right so I have some tough choices this week.
Go with Big Ben playing New England or chance it with Jason Campbell who’s playing Houston?
Then, I usually go with 3 running backs and 2 receivers. With five spots open, out of this list list who should I go with?
Mccoy (obviously he gets a spot)
Gore
Tolbert
LaDamien Tomlinson
Colston
Deion Branch
Devin Hester
Steve Smith (phi)
Mohamed Masaquoi
(I have Austin and had Britt but we know what happened to them)
Thank you so much!
Matt 5:06 pm on October 1, 2011 Permalink |
Big Ben without a doubt – New England has serious issues in its secondary so any decent QB is a great fantasy start against them, especially since the Pats offense is still so potent. They’re going to be in a shootout every week.
Keep an eye on Gore’s status pre-game and get him in there if there aren’t any red flags. Tolbert’s probably not a great start given the positive trend in the news about Mathews. Colston is a very shaky start with Payton saying he plans to limit him.
I’d start McCoy, Gore (assuming he’s ok), Branch, Smith and Tomlinson.
Jared 6:21 pm on October 1, 2011 Permalink |
My mistake, big ben is playing Houston and Campbell’s playing New England.
Jared 5:14 pm on October 1, 2011 Permalink |
