Week one injury updates

  • Looks like Rams WR Danny Amendola could be out for at least 8-10 weeks, if not the year, after suffering a dislocated elbow. This hurts for those in PPR leagues who drafted him. This could end up benefiting rookie tight end Lance Kendricks, who should see even more looks, even after dropping a few passes on Sunday.
  • Amendola’s teammates Sam Bradford (finger) and Steven Jackson (quad) also suffered minor injuries and both hope to play in week 2, but keep an eye on them. Don’t worry about starting Bradford’s backup for any reason, but Cadillac Williams will top the waiver wire pick-ups this week for sure!
  • Chargers running back Mike Tolbert continued to prove that he’s the more valuable tailback, at least in terms of fantasy football, on the team as he scored three touchdowns. However, he also hurt his knee and while it seems minor at the moment, it could be the type of injury to sideline him a week, so make sure to follow the situation if he’s on your team.
  • Houston running back Derrick Ward left the game with an ankle injury and backup Ben Tate had a big game. With Arian Foster’s status still unknown for week two and Ward already losing his role as primary backup, Tate could be in line for another big game.
  • 49ers receiver Michael Crabtree will most likely be day-to-day for a while with a¬†reoccurring¬†foot injury.
  • Tampa Bay quarterback Josh Freeman left Sunday’s game temporarily, but it seems it was just cramps and he came back in the game. Nothing to see here.
  • Jags tight end Marcedes Lewis had either cramps or a calf strain and you’ll want to monitor his status throughout the week before plugging him into your line-up (or don’t plug him in…easier solution!)
  • Bengals rookie quarterback Andy Dalton hurt his wrist and his status for week two is up in the air…but that shouldn’t matter, as no one should have him in their fantasy line-ups unless you’re in some crazy three QB league!
  • In case you’re someone who pays very little attention to the kicker position, other than to sub your guy out on a bye week, you might check that you don’t have Chargers kicker Nate Kaeding in your line-up. It seems he might be out for the year with a knee injury.
