Don’t do it. Nelson is rodgers’ deep guy. Nelson also has the hands that ed mcaffery had.

You would be CRAZY not to take that trade! Johnson has scored in every game this year but 1 & Nelson is the 3rd option on the team. He gets maybe 5 looks a game & if it doesnt go for 50+ he isnt valuable. I just traded Nelson in my league & upgraded. Johnson is on my team as well, he has been a BEAST!

Crazy to accept just looking at Steve Johnsons schedule to finish the year. Nelson will NOT have #1 corner coverage and he is picking up Rodgers down field. I like Nelson here just based on who Steve faces the remainder of the year. Hall,Revis, dal, mia,Revis,Finnegan,Jammer, mia,Bailey,NE. So if you want to hold onto a receiver who is playing against very strong corners compared to more of a #2 since Finley isn’t producing at all except for one game then sure keep Steve Johnson. Just my 2 cents. šŸ™‚

            • Corey 11:38 am on October 19, 2011 Permalink

and also for the fact that the bills have slowly started to turn into a running team. Look at the stats. I love stevie j but I use nelson on a passing team. they both have 4 tds in 6 games, strength of defense favors nelson with #2 corner coverage.

            • james hance 11:57 am on October 19, 2011 Permalink

ok, the expert says stevie, corey says nelson then this other guy jason says don`t, STEVIE GOOD šŸ™‚ -only good wr on bills GOOD šŸ™‚ – gets alot of TDs BAD šŸ™ – plays revis twice NELSON – BAD šŸ™ doesnt get short passes GOOD šŸ™‚ – gets long passes and alot of TDs GOOD šŸ™‚ – jennings will be double taked, leaving nelson open BAD šŸ™ – jennings is rodgers #1 option

that trade could go either way. Its an honest split. J. Nelson has been a solid receiver all year and will most likely stay consistent. Johnson might have more game to game potential, but in the end they will finish about even.

            • mike 4:16 pm on October 20, 2011 Permalink

It really just depends on your league settings. My league scores pts for catches/yards/td’s — So Stevie catching 6 balls a game for about 75 average & a score 2 out of 3 games scores me more than Nelsons 2 catches per with a possibility of scoring & getting that big chunk yardage. I would say Johnson is more consistent on a weekly basis for sure. Nelson will get that big play once every 2-3 games but SJ will make up for it on a week to week basis. Buffalo slings it around, they are not a running team like mentioned above. Fred Jackson only had 16 rushes last week & all his yardage came from 1 80 yd td run.

              thanks for the advice.

my opinion on your trade is that you should go for stevie just because green bay has better options than nelson, johnson has been putting up decent numbers and is due to have some more really good games after the bye.

            • Corey 9:47 pm on October 18, 2011 Permalink

I reject based on the fact that Steve Johnsons schedule is alot tougher down the stretch than Nelsons. Johnson goes up against Hall,Revis, dal, mia,Revis,Finnegan,Jammer, mia,Bailey,NE 6 out of the last 10 games he goes up against VERY strong corners. Nelson is a #2 so he won’t get that bracketed coverage or #1 cbs like Stevie will. Just my 2 cents.

        • Corey 5:38 pm on October 19, 2011 Permalink | Reply

I would start him over Ryan but not Stafford or Romo….just yet anyways. I would wait to see how he does with the new system and see how Fox utilizes him with the passing/running game before I start him over Stafford or Romo.

          • Mike 5:58 pm on October 19, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Agreed. However, ESPN and another blog have him picked for more points??! hmmm

            • Corey 7:02 pm on October 19, 2011 Permalink

Well you can look at it a few different ways. Tebow has had plenty of prep work for the Dolphins although their secondary is not that good, Miami is going to force tebow to beat them with his arm. I expect that box to be loaded and blitzes coming quite often to throw him off. He may have a decent 225 2tds but I’m don’t see him out throwing Stafford and Romo. Especially with this weeks matchups. I just want to see how he does before I start him.

There’s upside with the cowboys D this week. Mainly the fact that the Rams are terrible on offense. Even with Lloyd this week, you may see A.J Feely at qb and I don’t see their offense improving quite yet.

      • Corey 10:19 pm on October 18, 2011 Permalink | Reply

BGE. Unless the Dolphins pickup a QB to replace Moore, look for opposing defenses to stack the box to make Miami beat them in the air.

      • Brandon 4:46 pm on October 19, 2011 Permalink | Reply

I agree with Corey here. Green-Ellis will get the majority of the running work for the Patriots as long as he stays healthy and he’ll at least have chances in the red zone…something Thomas won’t see many of!

      • Jay 6:50 pm on October 19, 2011 Permalink | Reply

BGE easily , putting up very good numbers this year , dolphins believe it or not are still a pass first offense with brandon marshall on the outside , plus thomas & bush split carries , now so does BGE and stevan ridley but ellis gets more goaline carries plus bellicheck likes ellis better due to the fact he NEVER fumbles (another reason to keep him)

Should I drop Jacoby Ford for Greg Little? I have Steve Smith (CAR) and Roddy White and Ford doesn’t cover me for the bye weeks. I could also pick up Demaryius Thomas or DeMarco Murray (but don’t really need RBs) and could also drop Addai instead of Ford. Any suggestions? I’m having trouble valuing these guys. Non-ppr, 12 teams, 7-deep bench.

      • Corey 10:34 pm on October 18, 2011 Permalink | Reply

I’m curious to see how Ford/Palmer and Demaryius Thomas/Tebow perform with new QBs. I would drop Addai over Ford. I don’t see Addai producing very much this year. Pickup Murray for the next 4 games with Jones out. He has GREAT matchups over the next few weeks. Might be smart to pickup Thomas if you can but I would wait and see how they do this week before jumping on them.

        • Eddie 10:40 pm on October 18, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Okay great, thanks. So if I drop Addai for Murray, is it also worth dropping Ford for Little? Or should I worry about making a trade for a bye-week trade later?

          • Corey 10:44 pm on October 18, 2011 Permalink | Reply

I would hold off on dropping Ford. Keep in mind *IF* Palmer plays this weekend he likes to air the ball out and Ford being the speeder he is along with Heyward Bey, this might boost their ff numbers. Little will still be on waivers this week so I wouldn’t jump just yet.

      • Jay 6:52 pm on October 19, 2011 Permalink | Reply

i really dont like any of those guys id look in waivers maybe a.j green ? if available or decker ? if hes available but i agree with corey id keep ford , thomas is still a 3rd option at receiver and id keep murray , with felix jones out for up to a motnh expect his workload to increase especially at the end of games

Hey guys, 14 team league, with 14 roster spots. Need help at RB (Matthews and Addai) and QB (Cutler and Rothesburger). Number two waiver, could get Palmer or Brown or Murray, do i spend it now on these guys? Which one? QB heavy league – .5 a point for completions

      • Corey 11:15 pm on October 18, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Drop Addai IMO, he’s hurt…again, Indys season is in shambles.

Cutler and Roethlisberger honestly is a coin flip. Both offensive lines are horrid although I would give more of a lean towards Big Ben. He seems to have figured out how not to get hit and sacked lately…..unlike Cutler lol.

Grab Murray just because of his schedule the next few weeks. Set Palmer as your #2 waiver pickup if possible. I have a feeling he’s going to have a great run.

i agree with corey on palmer and murray but not so much with big ben & cutler , id go cutler especially this week against the bucs WEAK pass rush , but the steelers are playing the cardinals so it can be a coin flip but i lean cutler , i feel hes got confidence after last week & jay cutler with confidence is a VERY dangerous QB

Would you guys trade welker for decker/ h. ward? I’m really thin at wr due to injuries. WRs are Welker, moore, rice, t. young, l. robinson. Thanks for any help

        • Brandon 6:30 am on October 20, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Heck no! No way you trade the top WR in the league for two waiver wire pick-ups! If you’re going to trade Welker, you should be able to nearly restock your entire WR crew. Decker’s not bad, but I’d also need a guy like Mike Wallace, Greg Jennings or Hakeem Nicks. Or you could go Decker and two lesser guys like Miles Austin and Nate Washington or something like that. Moral of the story, do NOT trade him for Decker and Hines Ward!!! šŸ™‚

        • Corey 11:38 am on October 20, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Drop Moore who is now considered a #4wr, Drop Young who has fallen back under Burleson and drop Robinson who had a fluke OT catch 3 weeks ago. Go pickup Darrius Heyward Bey, James Jones, Greg Little. Bey with the addition of Palmer will be a great receiver to have, Little should start seeing even more targets now that he’s developing a great relationship with McCoy and James Jones has 9 catches for 223 yards and 3 tds the last 3 games. Yes there’s Jennings, Nelson and Finley to contend with but their running game is horrid and Rodgers likes to air it out. I’m confident in these picks. There may be better wr’s out there but I think these 3 will out produce Moore, Young, Robinson by far.

        • Corey 11:40 am on October 20, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Also pickup Demarius Thomas. With Decker getting bracketed coverage from #1 Cbs he may just be the receiver to have in Denver.

      Quick question for the geeks:

I’m being tempted by a trade of Roethlisberger, Garcon, and Colston for Calvin Johnson.

I know CJ is a beast, but I’ve been lacking at QB all season (and waivers killed be this week). Right now at QB I have Dalton, Tebow, and Bradford. You think its worth losing CJ for a decent QB?

      Thanks guys!

      • Corey 9:31 am on October 19, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Hold onto CJ. Roethlisberger is very inconsistent. Garcon only had 2 big games and now he’s seeing more coverage and colston just came back from injury. I wouldn’t be scared to play Tebow or maybe even pickup Carson Palmer. From what I’ve heard is that he has been working out and throwing before the season began and he’s ready. Dalton is developing a good relationship with AJ and he’s putting up decent numbers. Grab Hasselbeck off of waivers if he’s available. Bradford just got Lloyd..but he’s got an ankle injury and may be out for a few weeks. Palmer may not play until 2 weeks but I’m not giving up CJ for those 3. List who else they have for trade.

      • Brandon 4:48 pm on October 19, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Yeah if you’re looking to upgrade at QB, I don’t think Roethlisberger is the guy you’re trading for (especially when it’s the best WR in the game you’re giving up!) I’m not completely against trading Megatron, just make it for a solid QB. Find the guy who has Cam Newton and Tom Brady or something and get Brady from him šŸ™‚

      • Jay 6:57 pm on October 19, 2011 Permalink | Reply

NOOOO do not get rid of calvin johnson , he is by far a top 5 fantasy player this year (can make case for 1) but him along with rodgers , peterson , welker , fred jackson are guys you dont get rid of , im not the biggest tebow fan but i picked him up in my league due to the fact he can run , he may be a very good fantasy player & with two weeks to prepare for a BAD dolphins teaam , just makes you think how dangerous he might be

    • Joe 9:27 am on October 19, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Would you drop Roethlisberger for Bradford? I have Newton and I am not a fan of Roethlisberger.

      • Corey 9:37 am on October 19, 2011 Permalink | Reply

I would still hold onto Roethlisberger because he does have the easiest passing schedule over any other qb this year. Unfortunately their O-line is horrid. Over the last few games he’s really starting to develop a groove and is getting his passes out quicker. Also look at his schedule for the rest of the year. Arizona NE the next 2 games and they are TERRIBLE vs the pass. Finish off the year with kc/cin/cle/sf/stl/cle and you can see that he will probably get you between 10-20 points a game to finish off the year. Bradford did get Lloyd but he’s dealing with an injury and I have to be honest….How much better do you see STL getting just by adding Lloyd. Yea it’s an improvement but I don’t see Bradford getting 20-25 points a game. Hold onto Ben. Look to waivers for Palmer/Tebow/Hasselbeck or just play matchups each week.

      • Corey 10:19 am on October 19, 2011 Permalink | Reply

I would drop hightower or jacobs honestly. They are both #2s. Plus who wants anything to do with the situation with the redskins running back confusion. You drop Felix and someone will grab him up and wait for him to come back. I would drop jacobs and grab murray for the next few weeks then pick jacobs back up when jones is back to starting.

      • Brandon 4:50 pm on October 19, 2011 Permalink | Reply

I agree with Corey for the most part, but I think I drop Hightower over Jacobs. I have more faith that Jacobs can produce when he comes back from the BYE. The Redskins running game will be a headache you probably don’t want to deal with. Grab Murray and then whatever happens with Felix Jones, you most likely have the starting RB either way.

grab murray and hardesty , browns playing seahawks who are 31st against rb’s in fantasy , and with hillis out with serious injury , hardesty is a steal &he looked good in his little carries the past few weeks , and pick up murray just because the cowboys are gonna get a big league and just smash it down the rams throat lol , rams are 25th against rb’s , expect BIG numbers from murray and hardesty

Before I say who I’m getting, what are your opinions on this trade:

Jeremy Maclin, Reggie Wayne, Monterio Hardesty FOR Dwayne Bowe, Earnest Graham, Lance Moore

      • Corey 11:12 am on October 19, 2011 Permalink | Reply

I’ll make it simple for ya, Lance Moore won’t produce very much anymore with Colston back, plus Brees targets Jimmy Graham as his #1 so Moore is like a #3-#4 Wr.

Graham will lose his spot once Blount is healthy again.

Wayne…well …..he’s no longer the #1 in Indy that goes to Garcon,

Hardesty will at most split carries with Hillis and Maclin is a toss up.

The only player I like out of this whole bunch is Bowe, so if your getting Bowe with this deal I would say take it. But if you are giving up Bowe and I would say hold off and keep him.

        • steeve 11:54 am on October 19, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Thanks, I wouldn’t disagree with any of that actually..

I am giving up Bowe but I’m stacked at RB and Moore was about to get dropped for my next waiver pickup most likely anyway.. I’ve made peace with giving up Bowe under the “sell high” theory so I’m interested to see if he drops off at all, he’s definitely been hot as of lately though..

Maclin would be a #2 for me and I’m hoping Wayne doesn’t stay so average but that may not be soon..

Graham is temporary for now and interest in Hardesty was because I do have Hillis..

Bowe is the only one is this group that I don’t have an issue starting every week, the others are matchup starts at best.

              WR – Rice

Greg Little WR Cleveland this week for flex or Tashard Choice RB Dallas?

      • Corey 1:07 pm on October 19, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Little. He was the most targeted receiver for the browns last week and should continue that going forward. Murray should take lead back role while jones is out for a few weeks. Choice will only get breather carries.

      • Brandon 4:51 pm on October 19, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Agreed, go with Little. I expect DeMarco Murray to take the bulk of the carries for Dallas, who will probably pass a lot this week anyways against the Rams.

      • Corey 12:43 am on October 20, 2011 Permalink | Reply

I like Decker and BGE going forward. Decker should be #1 for Tebow or in competition with Thomas but he’s still going to get the looks. BGE will no doubt get all of the goal line work and most of the work between the 20s, yea he will split some with Ridley but BGE has ball control trust.

I just like Decker and BGE more. I think there is more value now and for the remainder of the season.

Would you guys trade welker for decker/ h. ward? Iā€™m really thin at wr due to injuries. WRs are Welker, moore, rice, t. young, l. robinson. Thanks for any help. Its a really deep league too if that matters. PPR

      • Mike 10:54 am on October 21, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Absolutely not. Welker is consistent every week and will put up big numbers here and there. Decker will probably be a good WR going forward, but who knows if Tebow developments a good relationship with him. He may end up favoring Thomas/Royal. Hines Ward isn’t worth picking up in my opinion.

        • Corey 11:10 am on October 21, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Decker will get his points, Ward will also get a few decent spot start games but ABSOLUTELY DO NOT TRADE WELKER!!! lol

Unless you are trying to improve your rb core hold on to him. It will be a race to the finish with Calvin Johnson for the best wr in the nfl this year.

There are more talented players on waivers than moore, young, robinson DROP THEM and pickup some matchup based wrs like Heyward Bey who is the wr in Oakland to own at this point. James jones has 3 tds over 200 yards the last 3 games. Greg Little in cleveland is starting to get alot of targets from McCoy.

There’s plenty of better receivers to help you out along the way.
And If you really really need to bolster your wrs look at maybe upgrading two areas instead of just your wr. Trade him for an elite receiver and a high #2 or #1 rb. Trust me if they want welker you will get a good trade. But Decker and ward seems like a move to clear bench space for the other owner.

Love the Dallas defense this week with Sam Bradford Doubful to play this week. As for your running backs, keep Felix Jones and ditch Donald Brown. Felix Jones will be back in a month or so and will be the starter again.

Oops, my bad. I think I drop Hightower before Jones and grab Murray. That way you have Murray while Jones is out and Jones when he comes back and you don’t have to worry about the headaches that come along with Hightower.

What a huge deal this is for everyone involved. The Raiders finally have a franchise QB, the Bengals finally shed the albatross of a player who refused to play for them, and Palmer gets a chance to finally fulfill his potential. It’s a good deal for the Raiders even at the eye-popping cost of a first-round pick next year and possibly another in 2013.

      • Brandon 4:12 pm on October 18, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Brandon Jacobs should be back after the Giants BYE so hang on to him if you are shallow at RB. As for a defense, grab Dallas if you can, but of those teams you listed, I like WAS, TEN and MIN in that order.

        • Will 10:57 am on October 19, 2011 Permalink | Reply

I have LeSean McCoy and Fred Jackson but they’re in their bye weeks. starting right now are Maurice Jones-Drew, DeAngelo Williams, and Willis McGahee. Maybe I should keep Jacobs.

I picked up Jared Cook to replace Witten during Dallas’s bye week, but I figure maybe I should drop him to get that defense. Do I need this many back up RB or WR?

          Starters
          ———–
          Josh Freeman QB
          Maurice Jones-Drew RB

          ————–
          Fred Jackson RB *BYE*
          LeSean McCoy RB *BYE*
          Brandon Jacobs RB

Bench Deangelo williams and grab Murray from Dallas.

            • Corey 11:41 am on October 19, 2011 Permalink

Goal line goes to Cam and Stewart is doing better. Murray has some great matchups for the next 4 weeks or so and that’s about how long Felix is going to miss.

            • Will 12:16 pm on October 19, 2011 Permalink

should i just DROP williams then? I have a lot of RBs. I have no problem picking up Murray if that’s the case, or if i drop another rb.

is dropping Jared Cook for a Defense team a good idea?

            • Corey 2:32 pm on October 19, 2011 Permalink

yea I drafted williams this year based on their rushing schedule and I dropped him after 3 weeks. He had one fluke game vs NO so I’m not impressed with the whole Carolina rb situation. you have witten so i would drop cook and grab the cowboys or saints this week, should have a decent day for either team.

    • David 4:00 pm on October 18, 2011 Permalink | Reply

My first fantasy year, first post here, so please bear with me. I’m in a shallow league so everybody’s team is stacked, but I seem to have a hard time getting stable numbers week to week. In particular, with RB’s I have Freddie Jackson, which is awesome, but then fall off to McGahee and Benson for #2. Benson is on a bye, as our 6 of my other players (!), so I am thinking of swapping him for either Marshawn Lynch or Jonathon Stewart. Make sense? There are others, like LT, M. and R. Bush, Kendall Hunter, etc. but it seem Lynch and Stewart may get the most consistent carries (this is a PPR league, so also receptions).

Why I am replying to this, though, is WR’s are even more sketchy with stability (I realize there are a lot of good names here). With all the byes, I have Santonio Holmes, who did nothing last night, Santana Moss, who now has a shaky QB situation, and Julio Jones, who may be injured, and everybody on the bench has a bye. So I either need to keep all three of these guys, or replace them with the likes of James Jones, DHB (who I am now leaning strongly towards and dropping either Holmes or Moss), Lance Moore (who seems to get every 7th target), Nate Washington (who I wonder about in general), Sidney Rice (who I like, but he is getting balls from TJack), and Crabtree. I have AJ Green and DJax on the bench, and Harvin as a flex, so really need a 3 or maybe 3 and flex.

      Any thoughts?

      Thanks!

      • Brandon 4:28 pm on October 18, 2011 Permalink | Reply

If you’re just trying to get through the BYE (and Benson’s one game suspension) I think McGahee should hold it down for you. Don’t drop Benson for any of those guys. Maybe you have some other guy you can drop though for Lynch or Stewart?

At wide receiver, Santonio Holmes got 63 yards and a score last night, so I think that counts for something! šŸ™‚ Anyways, you might have to just fight through this week as well, as none of those options are really better than the guys you have. If you just want some healthy bodies to throw in there this week I guess you could make some moves, but in the long run Holmes, Moss and Jones have the most potential out of that group. If you do anything, Heyward-Bey is the most intriguing now that Carson Palmer is headed to Oakland. Then I like Nate Washington and Sidney Rice (in that order.) I think I actually like DHB over Percy Harvin unless you get points for return yards.

        Whatever you do, good luck!

        • David 4:34 pm on October 18, 2011 Permalink | Reply

The problem is, BOTH my RBs are on bye, the other one is FJackson. So I have him and Benson on the bench, McGahee and nobody for RB1 and RB2, and I am unfortunately playing one of the best teams in the league this week, also without Gronkowski, who I am definitely not dropping. Maybe confusing so here is how it will look for w7 if I do nothing: This is PPR, no points for returns, 2QB league.

          QB Brees, Ryan
WR Holmes, Moss, Jones (who may still be out)
RB Benson (on bye), and McGahee
          TE Gronkowski (on bye)
          Flex Harvin

BN Fitzpatrick, AJ Green, Fred Jackson, DeSean Jackson.

          Thanks!

          • Brandon 4:50 pm on October 18, 2011 Permalink | Reply

I see. Well, for your wide receivers, wait until you hear about Julio Jones for this week before dropping him (which will be VERY tough!) If you have to though, try to get DHB to replace him.

As for running back, Benson hasn’t been spectacular this year, so I guess you could drop him as he has a BYE and a one game suspension. In that case, grab Marshawn Lynch, who is done with his BYE and has been doing alright.

Any thoughts on dropping Ryan Fitzpatrick for a tight end or one of the other positions you need? Or is the third QB too important and there are no other decent guys available?

            • David 5:00 pm on October 18, 2011 Permalink

BTW, I feel like I have just returned from a desert island, it is nice to hear some feedback on my team!

My three QBs are Fitzpatrick, Brees, and Ryan, til you mentioned it I didn’t think about dropping Fitz since he has been a stud. Do you disagree? TE’s are Winslow, Gresham, Ballard, Watson, Dickson, Davis, Heap, pretty much the 2nd tier guys. Other QBs right now are (presumably Palmer), Dalton, Gabbert, Bradford, so I would say being a 2QB league, pretty darn weak.

So Lynch then, take my chances with no TE?

Congrats to our Draft Day contest winner: WDragon33!

Looks like you were the winner of our Draft Day competition. Also, congrats to the second, third and fourth place guys, ryansk, CaptainK24 and cjstetzer, who also won a little prize money.

The amounts for the prizes may seem a little odd, but just so you know there are weekly competitions on the site for as low as $1 and $2, so you can get in there even with your $2.50 prize money. I recommend the two person games for $5 if you can find them, since you have pretty good odds of winning if you know what’s going on and it’s very similar to a head-to-head matchup in your regular fantasy football league. Anyways, good luck to anyone that continues using the site! (More …)
