User Requested Player Rankings – Week 7

As with last year, instead of automatically ranking every player at every position (like the big sites with the big bucks do :-)), I’ll be ranking all requested players against other requested players. For example, if you have four wide receivers and you’re trying to fill three spots, you just comment with the four names and I’ll rank them against eachother. In essence, this will accomplish the same thing as if you were to scan a complete list of wide receivers for where your four guys rank.

Here’s a link to the Google Doc spreadsheet for those viewing on mobile devices. Anyways, feel free to start submitting names for me to rank! I’ll start the list off with a few guys that were on the list last week.

Just a disclaimer…I’m more likely to put your players on the list faster if you just give me a couple names to compare. When you comment with your entire team, it makes me less likely to get the players listed until the very last minute. (View the rankings after the jump)… (More …)

tebow over schaub and white over jackson even though both are not producing at high levels but just the fact that the cowboys are shutting down the run against every team they play

how about torain or mlynch – although im guessing that one is a little fluid given the full practice THT put in today.. and how about SD, OAK, CLE defenses? thanks!

Torain vs Carolina is a must start here. Carolina is terrible vs the run and Lynch is up against a stronger run defense.

        Cleveland

Got them on there. I agree with Corey on Torain, BUUUUUUUUT, it was the exact same case against the Eagles last week when he bombed. Here’s to hoping he doesn’t play terrible against the league’s worst run defense two weeks in a row! πŸ™‚

Got them all on there. I’m liking Murray and Battle this week actually, as they both have awesome match-ups. If this is your BYE week for RB’s, you lucked out! At receiver, if you get return yardage for Brown, I guess you could play him, but I like Boldin and Little more for the most part.

      DEF: Oakland, San Diego, Denver

      • Corey 11:23 am on October 20, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Decker, Harvin, Baldwin, Jones in that order. Jones may not even play, watch for practice. Baldwin is highly targeted in their offense lately, Harvin will get a ton of targets from Ponder, just look at the bears game when he was put in. And Decker is currently the #1 in denver.

Def. San Diego, Denver, Oakland Pretty average defenses this week, see if Dallas or Browns/saints are available to pick up this week.

Long-term: Carson Palmer v. Sam Bradford

      Week 7:
RB – Beanie Wells, Daniel Thomas
WR – Torrey Smith, Mike Overrated Williams

      • Corey 11:10 am on October 20, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Long term I like Palmer here. Mainly because he has more weapons and a better O-line. Bradford did get Lloyd to throw to but does that really help him improve on a team that can’t protect their qb long enough to hit Lloyd deep? Keep Palmer.

I would play wells this week based on the matchups. You have to keep in mind that with Moore as the QB in Miami, Thomas is going to see 8 guys in front of him with a stacked box for the rest of the year. No teams will change that until Moore can beat them in the air. And even though Pit has had a history of stopping the run, they have been spotty on run defense this year.

TB mike williams? Drop him and pickup Bey or Decker if they are available. Between Smith and Williams you have to play Smith here.

Got those week 7 guys up there. As for long term, I actually like Carson Palmer more this year. If we’re talking dyansty/keeper league, I like Bradford in the really long term πŸ™‚

I have 2 spots open and trying to decide whether to start , Steven Jackson vs. Cowboys , Jordy Nelson vs. Vikings , Demarco Murray vs. Rams ? which two should i start ? , leaning towards nelson & murray

      • Corey 11:02 am on October 20, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Cowboys have the #1 ranked rush defense in the league and no idea if Bradford plays. The rams rushing defense is horrid. I would play Murray and Nelson without question.

      • Brandon 3:23 pm on October 20, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Cowboys run defense is tough, but the other guys are bigger gambles. I’m feeling like a gambling man this week though, so go Nelson and Murray and hope they both break out!

I know the cowboys are my team so i dont want jackson to succeed but i was thinking with aj feely playing theyd try and run steven jackson alot and maybe hed get 70 yards & a td , and with murray idk how dallas plans to attack , if their going to try and pass and get a big lead than run orr play smashmouth football (for once) and with jordy idk because he can have a BIG game or he can come up small

Alright, I changed my mind already I like the known quantity of Steven Jackson just a bit more than DeMarco Murray and the worry that Tashard Choice will steal his carries. It’s VERY close, but I’m currently leaning towards Jackson.

what do you think about brandon marshall & sjax for cj2k? rbs now are cj, freddy jackson, beanie wells, torain, and spiller w/ aj green, greg jennings, and steve breaston at wr. i am a little thin at wr for sure, but not psyhced about losing cj’s upside for sjax and w/ 0.5 ppr but only 20 yards recieveing point (vs 10 for rushing), im a little hesitant. im 4-2 now, few pretty good matchyps coming up so looking more to barely making the playoffs and what ill be when i get there than trying to survive the bye weeks. thanks!

      • Jay 7:43 pm on October 19, 2011 Permalink | Reply

if your getting cj say YES in a heartbeat , if your losing cj DECLINE His schedule is very favorable coming up and help him get his legs back under him and he’ll lead you to victory along with jackson , now you are thin at receiver but idt marshall is a great upgrade VERY inconsistent and id try and pick some one else up for a lesser price , your teams in good shape wouldnt change it

      • Brandon 3:27 pm on October 20, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Keep Chris Johnson. That trade seems fair on face value, but I think Johnson is going to kick it up a few notches soon. Brandon Marshall is always a wild card and the Rams offense is a mess.

Hey guys, should I trade Dez Bryant for Roddy White straight up. .5 point for completions. Thanks in advance.

      • Corey 11:15 am on October 20, 2011 Permalink | Reply

I would pass. And the reason I say this is that there is something going on with White. I’m not sure what it is but after this week is a bye and I’m betting on White finally taking off. Dez has to compete with Austin/Witten and Ryan looks to White a ton.

        Targets
        White 58
        Witten 45
        Austin 34
        Bryant 23

Keep White. As long as he’s on the field he’s going to be targeted heavily, even with Jones on the other side. It only helps his value long-term.

      • Brandon 3:28 pm on October 20, 2011 Permalink | Reply

I’m pretty sure you’re trading Bryant for White, right? If that’s the case, do it up!

    • Jake 9:46 pm on October 19, 2011 Permalink | Reply

I was going over a possible trade in my head that i might offer.

What do you guys think of me trading Mark Sanchez, Reggie Bush, and Plaxico from my team for Carson Palmer and Chris Johnson in a PPR? I recently acquired Sanchez and Plaxi for Jahvid Best πŸ˜‰ and Starks.

More Detailed Info: It’s an alright deal for the other party (who is also a die-hard Jets guy) to accept before this weeks game, although i may be forced to wait until next week. Not to see how Palmer plays out or if Chris Johnson actually does something (although that’s what i’m giving the other guy a chance to do), but because I’m short on RB’s. Foster, MJD and FJax usually start but Jackson has bye this week and i actually need Bush because i am left without back-ups.

Advice from anyone is in advance much appreciated.

      • Corey 1:00 am on October 20, 2011 Permalink | Reply

You can offer it but I’m going to guarantee you that the trade would be rejected. Sanchez is terrible, Bush is a #2 and Plaxico….well there’s no chemistry what so ever with Sanchez. And by giving up best and starks even though best in injured was a bad trade imo. There are more valuable qbs and wrs/rbs on waivers then owning any of those 3. Not trying to be rude but this is just my opinion.

      • Brandon 3:28 pm on October 20, 2011 Permalink | Reply

I’d do this trade if I were you…but not if I was the other guy, so hopefully he REALLY likes the Jets!

      Chris Johnson vs :
      DeMarco Murray
      Ryan Torain
      DeAngelo Williams
      Reggie Bush

I plan on starting Chris Johnson and DeMarco Murray. Does that sound right? I’m on the fence between Murray, Torain and Williams.

      Please help! πŸ˜›

      • Corey 1:03 am on October 20, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Torain had 10 carries for 22 yards against the WORST rushing defense in the league. Yea you can blame it on Rex and his INTs but 2.2 yards a carry against the eagles is terrible.

Deangelo williams I would just drop. I drafted him and I dropped him 3 weeks into the season. Yea he had one fluke game on one long run vs NO but other than that, Jonathan Stewart is running better, plus cam is getting the goal line touches mainly. I go with CJ and Murray. Murray has great matchups over the next few weeks.

Hope it helps, just my 2 cents

Graham short term yes, Jordy neslon long term yes. I don’t think I can have any Carolina rb on my roster. Cam is more of the #1 in goal line looks and they are a pass heavy team.

Had this trade proposed to me today. I am thinking no, but would love some feedback from the community.

Proposed trade: A.J. Green (my team) for Tim Hightower and Mike Tolbert.

      Here is my team:
QB – Matt Schaub, Curtis Painter (who I am most likely dropping for Tebow or Cassel)
WR – Miles Austin, Jordy Nelson, Darrius Heyward-Bey, DeSean Jackson, AJ Green, Pierre Garcon, Devin Hester
RB – MJD, Arian Foster, Darren Sproles
TE – Dallas Clark, Brando Pettigrew
      K – Jason Hanson
      Def – Detroit

      And his team:
QB – Ben Roethlisberger, Joe Flacco
WR – Brandon Marshall, Brandon Lloyd, Andre Johnson, Victor Cruz
RB – Darren McFadden, Steven Jackson, Frank Gore, Mike Tolbert, Time Hightower
TE – Fred Davis, Aaron Hernandez, Vernon Davis
      K – Mason Crosby
      Def – Pittsburgh

Any ideas on counter-offers? Or should I keep Green and reject the offer? Thanks!

      • Corey 12:55 am on October 20, 2011 Permalink | Reply

For starters reject that trade. Hightower and that redskin backfield is more confused then a psych ward at a mental hospital. Shanahan can’t make up his mind and it will be that way the rest of the season. And tolbert has lost most of the carries to Mathews. Mathews is the clear #1 now and he’s getting upwards of 20 carries a game compared to Tolbert around 5 or so a game. Yes Tolbert will still get an occasional vulture score at the goal line BUT Mathews is starting to get goal line carries as well. Basically it’s a scrum of the pack offer and I wouldn’t accept that at all.

I counter with A.J Green and MJD for Gore and Hernandez. Hernandez has alot of value imo going forward in the Pats offense and Gore has very favorable matchups the rest of the way. MJD has been “OK” this season, If Gabbert can start making the defense play honest that will open up mjd more often but I think the best option here is Gore and Hernandez, mainly because you upgrade your RB and TE in the process.

        Just my 2 cents

Hmm. interesting take. What do you think if I try for Gore-Hernandez by offering Miles Austin and AJ Green? Do you think Sproles will get the Job done for me this week if I do offer up MJD? (if that’s the case, I may do a Gore-Hernandez-Tolbert(?) and offer up Austin-Green-MJD.

      • Corey 9:24 am on October 20, 2011 Permalink | Reply

I would wait. Beck is now the starter and he’s going to lean on Moss to help him. As well as Fred Davis. If he doesn’t perform well after this week I would think about visiting the waiver line. πŸ™‚

Depends on the alternatives πŸ™‚ What kind of free agents are out there? Maybe you’re other receivers are Mike Wallace, Wes Welker and Greg Jennings. In that case, the lowest yahoo points on your team could still be pretty good!

Huge problem here this week. I have Brady and Fred Jackson on Bye week. Undefeated and this could be my week to fall. PPR with a QB/WR/RB/TE flex.

I cant decide on who to start. I have Shawn Green, Mike Tolbert, Jackie Battle and Carson Palmer. Should I gamble on Palmer and play Batlle and Tolbert. My luck this will be Greene’s week..

      Who should i choose?

      • Brandon 8:53 am on October 21, 2011 Permalink | Reply

I would bench Ryan Torain after last week’s performance against the worst run defense in the league. He plays against the worst run defense again, while MJD is against one of the best, but I still lean towards MJD over Torain.

      • Corey 11:24 am on October 21, 2011 Permalink | Reply

I respectfully have to go the other way with this one and my reasoning for this is that last week vs the eagles, Rex tossed up 4 ints, they were down 20-3 and Torain only had 10 carries. Then you add in the fact that Rex got benched and the eagles keyed on making the rookie Beck beat them through the air. Torain didn’t have a chance to have a good game last week because of that. I think this week Torain should have a very decent game against the 31st worst rush defensive team in the league who are giving up over 140 yards a game plus have allowed 8 rushing tds to opposing rbs.

The reason I think MJD has a *failure* week is that Baltimore is playing some great defensive football. If you look at all of the runners they have faced this year: Mendenhall 45 yards, Chris Johnson 53 yards, C. Williams 75 yards, Shonn Greene 25 yards and Foster 49 yards. Baltimore gives up a mere 76 yards rushing a game and have only allowed 1 rushing touchdown all year. Baltimore will focus on MJD and will be forcing Gabbert to beat them with his arm.

That’s why I would start Torain over MJD.
        Just my 2 cents πŸ™‚

WR: Lloyd, VJax, or Fitzy this week? also any recommendations on a sleeper TE that could fill in well this week for Gronk?

      • Corey 2:27 pm on October 21, 2011 Permalink | Reply

VJax is up against Revis and Vjax is not 100% healthy so I would bench him.

As far as Lloyd and Fitzy it’s almost a flip of a coin to who plays. They both have tough matchups. Well I should say that their QB throwing them the ball is going to have a tough matchup. Steelers D and Cowboys D will make it a bit harder for either WR to have time to get open. I would lean more towards Fitz though just based on the fact that Lloyd will more than likely have A.J Feely throwing him the ball and I think Kolb will have a little bit more time being able to target Fitzy.

TE I would look at Fred Davis *redskins*, with Beck starting he will look to Davis alot. Not alot out there in fantasy land.
