    First-Half Fantasy Player Awards

Biggest Surprise: Hard to go with anyone but Cam Newton here. He’s had a good deal of help from a re-energized Steve Smith, but the inverse is true as well – it’s so long since we last saw how dangerous Smith could be that the fantasy world had just about written him off. Those who took a late-round flier on him in keeper leagues have been on cloud nine all season. Honorable Mention: Jimmy Graham, Victor Cruz, Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Biggest Flop: Again, an easy call – Chris Johnson isn’t just having a bad year, he’s having an awful one. The only reason he wasn’t benched weeks ago is because he forced his team to sign him to what looks like a ludicrous contract now. You have to wonder whether he somehow knew his best playing days were already behind him, making it imperative to sign a contract before anyone got the chance to see him play. Honorable Mention: DeAngelo Williams, Josh Freeman (a pre-season fantasy darling), Mike Williams (blame Freeman). (More …)

Is Sam Bradford returning next week a safe bet? Wondering if dropping AJ Feeley now is smart.

      • Brandon 1:38 pm on November 1, 2011 Permalink | Reply

That’s the word on the street. If you wouldn’t start AJ Feeley this week anyways, obviously you’re free to drop him.

Who to start at defense. The Bears or should I pickup the Rams, Cardinals, Redskins, Colts or Broncos.

Tim teebow, Josh Freeman, Carson Palmer Alex Smith or Sam Bradford which 2 should i keep im struglin right now

      • Mike 4:00 pm on November 1, 2011 Permalink | Reply

thats tough. Tebow has good legs, and will get at least on the ground, but its a RISKY bet, especially given his last performance. Palmer could be good, but its still not sure if he will have any gas in the tank, or know the offesne well enough, Smith has been ok and he has edwards and crabtree back, Bradford has a bad line, but dude can throw, and he has Lloyd now. Freeman has been pretty good, and has a good match up vs NO. Id say Tebow and Freeman, but keep your eye on Palmer. Just my thoughts

I have Maurice Morris…so i can play him…and if McGahee goes then i can play him too… i can go get Marion Barber, Chris Ogbonnaya, or even the lump – Kregg Lumpkin. also, need a qb…should I go Dalton? my QB choices are limited this week…travaris Jackson, AJ FEELEY, etc. what are your thoughts. i need a QB and a RB.

how about cj200 for surprisingly frustrating flop with no keeper value making a statement about how much he sux. i just got offered DMC for CJ200 in 0.5 ppr.. about to click accept.. what do you think about their value for ff playoff schedules? im 6-2 now, hoping i have a good shot at making the playoffs so could potentially take the hit even if dmc didnt play this week.. but wk 14-16 for DMC’s is GB, DET, & KC while CJ has NO, IND, & JAX.. thanks!

At WR I have Nicks, AJ Green, Maclin, Dez Bryant.

      At TE I have Winslow.

Sigh is it time to drop Peyton Hillis?

      • Brandon 11:41 am on November 2, 2011 Permalink | Reply

I wouldn’t. Wait until he comes back from his injury and see how it plays out. He might even play this week, so you’ll get an idea of where he stands.

Which WRs should I start. 2WR and a W/T flex.

Decker, Manningham, Nicks, JNelson, Antonio Brown. I am thinking Nicks, Nelson and Brown/Decker. Leaning toward Decker cause Brown is up against the Baltimore defense. Thoughts? (((I’ve got Heath Miller as my other TE (W/T flex)(Finley getting the start)))

Which defense is better to start: SF who has been pretty good all year, or DAL who is shaky at times but has a good matchup against seattle at home?

The Wire: Scraping the Bottom of the Barrel

This season I’ve continued to tweak the format of the waiver wire list, so pay attention! I’ve organized it by position now, since that probably makes more sense when you’re trying to fill a particular position. In terms of the color coding: green are guys to target, yellow are guys that are less-than-spectacular, but you can plug-in if necessary, and red are one-hit-wonders you can ignore.

Here is the waiver wire advice for this week in Google Doc spreadsheet format if that’s the way you prefer to digest it.

Remember, Pickemfirst is a great browser plug-in to use with our waiver wire lists!

CJ200 for DMC in 0.5 ppr?

Who do you think is the better bet long term – Cruz or Manningham?

    • Anthony 8:08 pm on November 1, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Seriously something needs to be done with my team. Im now 3-5 and im just pissed. MY team:
      QB Rodgers
      RB. Mendenhall
      Rb. Mathews
      Flex. Lawfirm
      WR. Mike Williams
      WR. Miles Austin
      TE. Gates
      K. Cundiff
      D. Packers
Bench: Best, Mcgahee, David Nelson, LT

What should i improve in? I have a surplus of RBS so i can use them to maneuver a trade. Please let me know im so agitated with this team!!!

Need a fill in for Cam this week: Have Fitzpatrick, but he’s playing the Jets – thinking of dropping him for Bradford, Dalton & Smith also available….. Which to play this week & keep?

Also – struggling with which RB to drop to field a D/St on Sunday, I have Rice, McFadden, M Bush, BGE, Best, & Murray(start 2, std). Would love to dangle one of the bench guys in a trade for a decent D/St, but unlikely to get a bite. Worried about DMC’s durability, Best’s too, Murray’s committee & schedule.

Could also drop a WR (Megatron, A Brown, Holmes, Manningham, Jordy Nelson) or backup TE (Gonzo, AHern starts) too.

Then which D/St to pick up, where kickoff return yards scoring is generous: KC (vs Mia), OAK (vs Den), Pats (vs NYG), ATL (@Indy).

      Thanks guys

Not sure everyone is aware yet, but the Cowboys recently cut running back Tashard Choice and he quickly found his way to fantasy football running back hell. That’s right, Choice signed with the Washington Redskins and will now join a cast of running backs that only put up good numbers when on your bench or when they’re a free agent in your league.

Anyways, I thought I should mention that as you’ll undoubtedly see him on the waiver post this week, which I am currently working on…

OH, I heard that last night, and just laughed. Especially considering I have Torain, and I am definitely dropping him this week. I also heard Massoquoi is going to Oakland?? Is that right?

I haven’t heard the news about Massaquoi, but if it’s true, I’ll credit you with breaking news! 🙂

Quick Advice, Who should I take for my bye week fill in?????
Tebow, Ryan, Sanchez, or Cassel……..Im thinking Ryan, coming off bye, and against Indy?!?!

    • Will 1:39 pm on November 1, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Awesome! Despite Dallas’s disgusting performance, I beat the number 1 in my league and am not the top dog! 🙂

I’m pretty happy with my lineup now, and this next match-up seems like a sure win, but is there anything I can do to strengthen my roster? Who will do better this week, Fitzpatrick or Freeman, Decker or Lloyd?

      ** Week 9 **
      Starters
      ———
      Ryan Fitzpatrick QB *P*
      Fred Jackson RB
      DeMarco Murray RB
      LeSean McCoy RB
      Brandon Lloyd WR
      A.J. Green WR
      Jason Witten TE
      49ers D/ST
      Dan Bailey K

      Bench
      ———
      Josh Freeman QB
      Maurice Jones-Drew RB *BYE*
      Willis Mcgahee RB *O*
      Brandon Jacobs RB
      Eric Decker WR
      Saints D/ST
      David Nelson WR

Friends have been asking me to trade off one of my running backs, of which I have several. Anyone I should shoot for?

Maybe sell high on Murray and try to get a real WR1? Pair him with Decker or Nelson and try to get Colston or Smith? You could also try trading MJD for Megatron, though that may not fly.

          • Will 4:41 pm on November 2, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Yeah, Johnson would be nice to have… the owner doesn’t have many good RB, and his other WRs are not that special:

            ** Starting **
            Beanie Wells RB
            Peyton Hillis, RB
            Mark Ingram, RB
            Sidney Rice, WR
            Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR

            ** Bench **
            Ryan Torain, RB
            Reggie Wayne, WR
            Calvin Johnson, WR

should I suggest a trade of Murray and Decker for Johnson, or MJD and Decker for Johnson?

If I traded Murray and Decker, I would have to move Jacobs, McGahee, or Nelson to starting for this week. If I traded MJD and Decker, I wouldn’t have to change anything. Which trade offer would have better chances of succeeding?
