User Requested Player Rankings โ€“ Week 11

As with last year, instead of automatically ranking every player at every position (like the big sites with the big bucks do :-)), I’ll be ranking all requested players against other requested players. For example, if you have four wide receivers and you’re trying to fill three spots, you just comment with the four names and I’ll rank them against each other. In essence, this will accomplish the same thing as if you were to scan a complete list of wide receivers for where your four guys rank.

Here’s a link to the Google Doc spreadsheet for those viewing on mobile devices. Anyways, feel free to start submitting names for me to rank! I’ll start the list off with a few guys that were on the list last week.

Just a disclaimer…I’m more likely to put your players on the list faster if you just give me a couple names to compare. When you comment with your entire team, it makes me less likely to get the players listed until the very last minute. (View the rankings after the jump)… (More …)

Tebow. I think he will be forced to run it. I have serious doubt s about whether he will get much passing, especially with 2 of the best corners playing on the Jets. Im hoping for heavy ground yardage out of necessity. At least one TD

Just added those guys. As for your quarterback, Dalton has a tough match-up and I think you go with Tebow, who has the most upside for sure.

        I have a Gore issue.
With Foster on his Bye I thought it would be good to pick up Gore. Well not so good at the moment.
        My line up:
        Romo
        Cruz
        Damian Williams
        Marshawn Lynch
        Reggie Bush
        Flex
        Ballard
        Janikowski
        49s

Should I play gore even if he is limited or do you think they will rest him especially since next week they have a Thursday game against the ravens? Should I rely on Hunter as a back up or just stay away from 49s all together this week and pick up Vincent Brown for my flex?

Hang on to Cruz. Lynch’s trade value is at its peak with all the TD’s he’s scored lately, but he should come back down to earth. You really want to see what Felix Jones does when returning from injury as well before trading him.

      Hi Brandon
quick question. i’ve been proposed a trade Steve Smith and Jeremy Maclin for Eli Manning ( my backup QB but i don’t need him anymore) and Marshawn Lynch. I am projected to do 15 pts less than my opponent on week 11 and it’s very important that I win this week. I need someone better than Ryan Matthews for my flex. what do you think? should I look somewhere else or is that a good deal?

      • Brandon 10:49 am on November 17, 2011 Permalink | Reply

That trade looks pretty fair to me. You seem to need help at WR? I assume that’s Steve Smith of the Panthers right? Also, do you have plenty of depth at RB where you can give up Lynch?

        • Sarah 5:11 pm on November 17, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Thank you. Yes, Steve Smith from Car. Panther. I have Dwayne Bowe, Roddy White ,Ted Ginn Jr as my W/R, and I picked up recently Brandon Tate from the waiver . My R/B are Ryan Matthews, Fred Jackson, MichaelTurner and I recently picked up Marshawn Lynch rthat this guy wants desperately ( don’t know why). The way our team is set up is a little different than others since we’re counting returning yard, reception yard and more (if you don’t mind taking a look at that) https://docs.google.com/document/d/1DIANfLdqlP7eaodO9cV58Ee0sg3gffR4aKFbbA-SILQ/edit?hl=en_US. This is why someone like Roddy White (overall 74 pts) has a lot less points compare to other W/R such as Steve Smith (134 pts). If you take into account all these factors, who do you think I should start as my W/R this week and who should i put as my flex?
          Thank you very much;)

          • Brandon 9:40 am on November 19, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Wow, a point for every 10 return yards is pretty crazy. Using that scoring system, it’s hard to bench Brandon Tate who has been putting up around 100 return yards a game or so, right? I’d make sure I get Steve Smith in your line-up as well.

Did you end up playing McGahee? If not, I’m not sure I gamble with DeSean Jackson if Vince Young is going to be his quarterback. Rice has a great match-up and is probably the safer play, even if his upside isn’t as high. Good luck!

OK, well now that I have a pretty nice line up, I figured I could do a little clean up and maybe do some trades for better alternates.

      STARTING
      Cam Newton, Car QB
      LeSean McCoy, Phi RB
      Fred Jackson, Buf RB
      DeMarco Murray, Dal RB
      A.J. Green, Cin WR *Q*
      Eric Decker, Den WR
      Jason Witten, Dal TE
      49ers D/ST
      Dan Bailey, Dal K

      BENCH
      Josh Freeman, TB QB **P**
      Brandon Jacobs, NYG RB
      Willis McGahee, Den RB **Q**
      David Nelson, Buf WR **Q**
      Saints D/ST D/ST **BYE**
      Ryan Fitzpatrick, Buf QB
      Peyton Hillis*, Cle RB **O**

I just got Cam Newton, he’s projected to make about 15 fantasy points for me… but Freeman and Fitzpatrick are projected to do 14 and 15 respectively. Who should I start? I traded MJD for Newton but I’m starting to wonder whether that was a good idea…

      • Stephen 2:04 pm on November 18, 2011 Permalink | Reply

I think it was definitely a good idea, since you already have McCoy/Jackson/Murray at RB. Despite shoulder issue and Detroit D, I would probably start Newton still. If I were you though, I’d see about replacing Decker with a different WR with a more pass-friendly QB though. Maybe see if anyone would take any your bench players – I’d try to swing two bench players for a solid WR1. Maybe someone would take McGahee + Freeman or Fitz? You have strong depth at QB and RB, but it may be a good idea to compromise some of that depth for a strong starting lineup at WR. Your call though.

Nicks, Robinson, Branch, Nelson, Marshall, and Cruz. Yeah, I’m WR top heavy, but I have two heavyweight RB’s and utlizing my flex, and bench for the WR set. My thoughts are Marshall, Nelson and Nicks are givens. I am torn between Cruz, Robinson and Branch – but I thought I’d put them all out there in the interest of full disclosure. Love the format of this – awesome.

The Wire: The (Lance) Ball is in your court!

This season I’ve continued to tweak the format of the waiver wire list, so pay attention! I’ve organized it by position now, since that probably makes more sense when you’re trying to fill a particular position. In terms of the color coding: green are guys to target, yellow are guys that are less-than-spectacular, but you can plug-in if necessary, and red are one-hit-wonders you can ignore.

Here is the waiver wire advice for this week in Google Doc spreadsheet format if that’s the way you prefer to digest it.

Remember, Pickemfirst is a great browser plug-in to use with our waiver wire lists!

Iโ€™m thinking of keeping Murray since he seems to be really shining. No more news on Felix Jonesโ€ฆ I had Murray benched in favor of Fred Jackson because I thought Murray and Jones would share looksโ€ฆ still won this round, but it hurt me inside.

BTW, what do you think of Fred Jackson? He was kind of disappointing this week, and though I know heโ€™s really good, someone was saying that he might not do well later in the season once it gets cold.

Injuries are ruining my team this year, especially now with news that Schaub is out indefinitely (and probably for the rest of the season). So, who do you think I should pick up to take his place. My other QB is Andy Dalton. The available QBs are McCoy, Cassel, Jackson, Ponter, Skelton, Beck, Orton, Palmer, Grossman, Gabbert.

I am leaning toward Palmer, but this is really a crappy situation. In line to make the playoffs in what is my rookie season, but now I’m not so sure.

And if i attempt to go for a trade, who do you think i should target without having to give up too much? Eli Manning, Romo, Smith, Cutler?

PickEmFirst + Player Ranks = Useful!

Want a good way to check if there are free agents in your league that are predicted to do well this week and who could possibly help your team? You should install Pick Em First (@pickemfirst) in your browser, then use it while viewing our weekly player rankings!

In case you’re curious, GREEN means the player is available in one of your leagues; BLUE means he’s on one of your teams, but not available in other leagues; and GRAY means he’s not available in your leagues.

(NOTE: PickEmFirst isn’t always accurate. Currently it says that LeGarrette Blount is available in on of my leagues…but he’s not :-()

      On it-

Need help- so in our 12 man non ppr league I drafted a pretty beasty team

      qb(1) brady

      rb(2) LT, Forte, mcfadden, DeAngelo

wr(3) andre, ocho, ward, mason, jones(gb)

      te(1) cooley/olsen

      k(1) gostkowski

      def(1) charger/gb

To see this team at 3-5 in my keeper is heart breaking with those names. 3 0-1 point losses has especially stung me. I’ve probably got too much depth at RB (especially for a 12player keeper), I should try trade stop wasting bench with talent but i mean where do i upgrade???

Cooley is solid, if anything my WR/QB have been hurting me. People are hungry for RBs, someone has offered up Boldin or TO for one. Also another has Jennings and Sidney Rice who might be willing to trade. Or should I try go Brady+RB for Peyton/Rodgers?

OR! should I sit tight and wait for the wins to start coming like they should be?

      Thanks guys as always

I’m curious which running back people are offering Bolding or T.O. for?

As for your team in general though, I think you need to just ride it out with what you have. Is there any decent options at WR on free agency? Other than that, you should probably just hope that the next 1 point games go your way ๐Ÿ™‚

Pickemfirst and FFgeeks = a match made in heaven

Keep up the great work guys! I’ve been using pickemfirst since it came out and have found it very useful. I’d love it if you guys could get together with some other ranking sites especially fantasypros.com which is a sort of meta ranking system using all the experts while excluding some of the low-end sites that FFnerd includes. Personally I’d love to see the position ranks be based on the experts picks who rank in the top 10 of accuracy for the year at that specific position. I’ve found this ranking system to be far more accurate weekly than any single expert or site. For instance, the yahoo team holds all of the top stops for DST accuracy this year but none of the those experts outranks the yahoo staff combined projections. I love FFN’s strength in numbers theory but I think it would be better if the numbers were limited only to the very top of experts, say the top 10 at each position. Just a thought.

I have a dilemma – In my last flex spot, I can put Collie or J. Stewart in the line up. Stewart is THE RB in Carolina because Williams will miss another game, but I still don’t trust that O-line. Collie should be in the line-up. He practiced pretty much all week and Gonzalez (or should that be Gone-zalez?) tweaked his knee again and looks like he will be on the sidelines.
Both have risk. Both have upside. Which one do I start?
(0.07 PPR/6 PTD, Starting Roethlisberger, Andre, Boldin, McFadden, Witten, Woodhead, Hillis, Carpenter, Bears)

I’m also on the fence about starting Ben. I have Cutler on the bench against the Bills and coming back from a bye.

Any thoughts and help are greatly appreciated!!

      • Brandon 10:21 am on November 6, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Stick with Big Ben at quarterback. I got him a couple spots ahead of Cutler on my ranks this week.

As for your flex spot, that’s a tough one. Up front, Stewart looks like a landslide as the starting running back and a coming-back-from-injury Collie, but the stats tell another story. I’d probably just start Stewart and hope he can snag you a touchdown or so. I have no idea how big a part Collie will play in the offense now that they have Wayne/Garcon/Tamme rolling as well. Good luck with however you go though!

Also, 0.07 PPR? What is that? hah

Hits & Misses – Week 12: Happy Thanksgiving!

awesome turkey graphicHere are our “Hits” and “Misses” for week twelve, listing players you want to make sure are in your lineup, as well as those you might consider shelving for the week (or at least lowering your expectations!) With Turkey Day right around the corner and a record three games being played tomorrow, we needed to post the hits and misses ASAP this week. As usual, I left off a few obvious picks from the list, including Ricky Williams running over the Bills, Larry Fitzgerald smoking the Titans secondary and Greg Jennings beating up on the Lions, but there is still plenty of picks to go around. Hopefully everyone has a great holiday weekend, filled with lots of fantasy football points!

I agree with Bernard Scott (especially if Cedric Benson is ruled out again), but for your other spot I’d go with Laurence Maroney. I don’t trust Meachem against the Patriots defense, who has been pretty good at shutting down receivers this year.

        • Matt 4:20 pm on November 26, 2009 Permalink | Reply

Colston’s been facing a great deal of double coverage lately and has seen his red zone targets go to others (especially Meachem) who don’t get as much attention from defenses. Hopefully for Colston owners, defenses are soon going to realize that doubling Colston does little good since Brees isn’t particularly dependent on any one target. At this point, though, I’d consider him just a WR2 since Brees is more than happy to spread the ball around and take what defenses are giving him.

Hah, no actually, but hopefully it can start answering peoples questions anyways! I put Steve Smith as a Miss, when compared to other WR1 and WR2’s, while Crabtree is a Hit, when compared to other WR3’s.

In terms of McNabb and Smith, it’s hard to bench McNabb when the team is so pass-oriented. I’d stick with Donovan, even with a tougher match-up.

1 PPR League for week 12…who would you start at my 2nd RB spot?

Benson, Scott (I realize Benson if he is healthy but could you give me scenarios for which I should avoid either one – i.e. – they are going to split carries), Forsett, Cartwright, B. Wells, Fargas

I really can’t screw this decision up. I’m in a four-way tie with 3 other teams at 6-5. We currently occupy spots 3-6 if the playoffs started today (we only get 6 in out of 12 teams). The team I’m playing is also 6-5.

      • Squish 10:09 am on November 26, 2009 Permalink | Reply

I think you have to wait to here what’s going on in Cinci. If Benson and Scott both play, Forsett may end up being a better play than either of them. If Benson doesn’t play, definitely play Scott. You’ll have to wait to make your decision.

Although the Bears offense is a constant source of frustration, I think you want to start Hester today, as his match-up is a lot better and the last time the Chargers/Chiefs played, Matt Cassel had a rough day.

Hard to not go with Turner when he’s playing. Go with The Burner and hope for the best.
