Frank Gore done for the year with a fractured hip

Pretty bad news if he was one of your top RB’s heading into the playoffs! Maybe there’s a chance some of the league has lost interest though and you can scoop up 1) Brian Westbrook and 2) Anthony Dixon to replace him?

In other news, I’ve now clinched in all three of my good leagues, so week 13 will basically be a bye week. Anyone else got everything wrapped up with time to spare? It feels nice 🙂

11-1 and sitting pretty, feels great. Just grabbed Westbrook, too.

I almost – ALMOST – had Gore in a trade earlier this season. Kinda glad it fell through now. I feel bad for Gore and the 7×7’s. They can probably HOST a playoff game with an 8-8 record!

NFL leaders through week 2 (of the preseason)

Here are your offensive leaders through two weeks of the preseason. We’re now seeing some of the fantasy football cream rise to the top now, with draft-worthy players Carson Palmer, Matt Forte, Ryan Matthews, Greg Jennings and DeSean Jackson all making the lists. Keep an eye on San Francisco running back Anthony Dixon though, who at a minimum will probably be the mandatory handcuff to Frank Gore.

Hello guys, u helped me to great success last year. I an in a keeper league and am approaching the deadline to let some players go. Which two should I keep from Fitzgerald, Greg Jennings, Ochocinco, Jamaal Charles and Deangelo Williams. Thanks

You’ll want to keep DeAngelo Williams and either Fitz or Jennings…but which one is tricky. Fitzgerald is a beast, but he’s a bit nicked up right now and his quarterback is Matt Leinart (scary!) Jennings has a great quarterback, but didn’t put up the best touchdown numbers last year. I’m going to lean towards Jennings, who needs to rebound to his 2008-09 form.

Thanks Brandon, we also have defensive players. Last year I got big points from Elvis Dumervil but I have lost him this year to injury. Can u recommend any sleepers on defense that will have a big year in terms of sacks?

Glen Coffee’s retirement at age 23 is mind-boggling to me (and I think the smart money’s on him coming back to the game at some point), but in the meantime it makes rookie Anthony Dixon pretty interesting as the new backup to Frank Gore, who’s been less injury-prone as a pro than many expected him to be but will have to shoulder more of the load now. That’s good news in the short-term for Gore owners, but it could turn into a mid-to-late-season boon for those who take a flier on Dixon in the draft. He certainly looked ready against the Colts last night – 100 rushing yards (including a 5-yard TD run) on 21 attempts, plus three catches for 21 yards.
