CBS to launch fantasy app store

Apparently CBS is opening a Fantasy App Store, giving developers access to their API’s so they can create free or paid apps (of which they take a 30% cut.) I’m pretty sure this article is saying that the apps will live on CBSSports.com, as opposed to on your phone or desktop, but I could be mistaken. The full store opens at the end of the month, but they’ve already launched a development center where developers can begin learning what features and data they’ll have access to.

Once someone masters this and comes up with their first app, let us know and we’ll feature it on FFGeekBlog.com!

Disappointing. I wish someone would create an API that allowed for the development of real apps, not “apps” that live on CBS’s crappy website.

I pretty much hate it when site’s go crazy with slideshows instead of just listing stuff on a single page, but in case you’re looking for some NFL apps for your mobile device, Business Insider has a few. Just be prepared to flip through about 15 pages of the slideshow!

I couldn’t agree more!! BleacherReport.com for me is the biggest culprit. Their RSS feed is huge with more posts than anyone else I know, but half of them are slide shows. Even worse, about half way through the slideshow, they make you watch a 15 second ad. I’ve stopped even opening anything of theirs that is presented this way.

      hey brandon,

      Matthew Stafford (Det – QB)
      Andre Johnson (Hou – WR)
      Steve Smith (Car – WR)
      A.J. Green (Cin – WR)
      Steven Jackson (StL – RB)
      Marshawn Lynch (Sea – RB)
      Zach Miller (Sea – TE)
      Ryan Fitzpatrick (Buf – QB)
      Stevan Ridley (NE – RB)
      Derek Hagan (Oak – WR)
      Fred Davis (Was – TE)

With what you see, would you do a stafford for jamaal charles trade or package it differently? charles owner is in need of a QB and i’m desperate for a RB.

      THANKS!

Yes you are desperate, hah. I think I would do that trade. Charles is a first round draft pick to begin with, so you’re getting way more value. Plus, the drop off from Stafford to Fitzgerald should be a lot less than Charles to Lynch (your other starting RB.) Do it! (by the way, any other good QBs on the waiver wire?)

Start two: MJD/Fred Jackson/Beanie? Worried they’re limiting/saving MJD for later this year.

Dangit! Wrong thread. Sorry about the cross-post.

would you trade mike williams and Carnell williams for Marshall and sproles? thank you.

      • Brandon 10:11 am on September 18, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Would you play Sproles as a flex or something? This is a pretty solid trade actually, as you get two guys who start and he gets a starting WR and a backup running back. Go for it.

Is trading B.Jacobs for J. Starks a fair trade??? And would you want Kolb or Cutler as a backup??

      • Brandon 10:08 am on September 18, 2011 Permalink | Reply

I like Jacobs more than Starks, even with a bad game from Brandon. Give him another week and maybe hope the trade is still there if he doesn’t do anything again. As your backup, I’d go with Kolb. I like his receiving options a lot more.

Should I trade Willis McGahee and Mario Manningham for CJ Spiller and Santonio Holmes?

      • Brandon 10:07 am on September 18, 2011 Permalink | Reply

I wouldn’t recommend it. Not much to gain and I like Manningham, especially this week.

      BN BenJarvus Green-Ellis (rb)

FOR WEEK TWO WOULD YOU MAKE ANY CHANGES, DROPS, ADDS, OR KEEP IT THE WAY IT IS?

      • Brandon 10:13 am on September 18, 2011 Permalink | Reply

I thnk I’d start Burress over Nelson, but it’s close. Looks good either way. Good luck!

Thank God, I didn’t go with Burress this week.. What a bust!

          • Brandon 6:27 am on September 21, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Between the two of them, they only had one catch…lucky for you Nelson had an 84 yard touchdown with that one catch 🙂 Not sure what happened to Burress though!
