    This morning’s fantasy football updates

Just some updates from this morning while scanning through Google Reader…

Hey, I’ve been monitoring the St. Louis Rams WR situation a lot recently from their camp reports, but I was wondering what your opinion was on how the landscape of their WRs will look like. Is Donnie Avery still a starter, and how will MSW fit in? What about the potential of Danario Alexander?

At this point the WR situation in St. Louis is a little murky. This is what the Yahoo! Rams Report says:

“Battle Of The Week: WR Mike Sims-Walker and others for jobs. Sims-Walker is the newcomer and in a competition with several receivers for roster spots. With only six jobs likely available, the battle will be intense among Donnie Avery, Danny Amendola, Brandon Gibson(notes), Danario Alexander, Mardy Gilyard(notes), rookies Austin Pettis and Greg Salas and Dominique Curry”

Personally, I’m pretty confident that Sims-Walker will carve out a starting job and Amendola will continue to be solid out of the slot (good for PPR leagues mostly.) As for the other starter though, it could be Avery if he gets healthy…or Alexander (also if he gets healthy) or Gibson. If you’re drafting any of these guys, they’re your WR3 at best and most likely a wait and see candidate. Hopefully it clears up a bit through the preseason games.

Oh, and the latest news is that Mark Clayton will most likely be re-signing with the team…just to make things a little more interesting 🙂

My take is that MSW was decently productive with the JAX poo poo platter throwing to him, a good QB like bradford will be able to get him the ball. Avery is a perfect slot, while MSW is a taller threat.

Thanks for clearing up some of my confusion guys, now I have a question regarding my fantasy squad. I am lacking a 3WR for my team which now is Jordy Nelson, who has lost his sleeper appeal since James Jones resigned. I have been eyeing some WR in my league’s Fa that I believe are potential breakout candidates. Arrelious Benn TB, Emannuel Sanders PIT, and Steve Smith/Jason Avant(mainly because of Maclin’s questionable health). Our WR spots can also be TEs too, so I have been looking at Lance Kendricks STL as well as the two TE on Baltimore, Dennis Pitta and Ed Dickson. Which one of these WR/Te do you guys see as having the greatest potential for fantasy impact? Thanks once again!

I like Benn and Sanders and see them both as essentially the same kind of high-risk, high-reward player. Either one is worth a shot and I can’t say that I prefer one over the other. I definitely think they’re the two best options of the players you listed.

Here at Legends were definitely seeing Owen Daniels as a great TE to pick up this year. Actually here at Legendsfantasyleagues we think of him more as a Ben Coates type player. Why you ask him yourself, as you play him head to head in fantasy football!dont

Chad Ochocinco (Johnson?) traded to the New England Patriots

As a Patriots fan, I can’t complain that New England isn’t making things interesting this season. In addition to acquiring Albert Haynesworth, they’ve now traded for Chad Ochocinco (not sure if he plans to change his name back now?) and solidify one of the most solid wide receiver corps in the league. As long as Bill Belichick can put up with his social networking, I see this move working out pretty well.

In other news, recently cut wide receiver Roy Williams has signed with the Chicago Bears. Interesting move…which I don’t see working out all that great. He has a decent quarterback with Jay Cutler, but the fact that he couldn’t succeed in Dallas, who doesn’t have a scrub at QB to begin with, raises some serious questions about his skill level at this point.

Anyone know where Terrell Owens is hiding?

Chad Ochocinco takes my advice and considers playing in the UFL

A couple weeks ago yours truly mentioned that some NFL stars should just jump ship and head to the UFL. Seems Chad Ochocinco, a dedicated reader of FFGeekblog (note: this is unconfirmed), is considering this advice.

Chad Ochocinco rides a bull…and by rides I mean he falls off it before even getting out of the gate!

The logical next step is for for Ochocinco to be on Ninja Warrior. Learning how to catch again should also be high on his list of things to do.

I’m hearing rumblings that Ochocinco may end up with the Patriots in the offseason, which would be interesting. I just wish these idiots would figure out what’s going on before we have to switch this to a UFL fantasy football league!

Speaking of how players are spending their offseason, I’m intrigued by Ravens safety Tom Zbikowski’s boxing career, which has gotten off to a 3-0 start.

Chad Ochocinco in Major League Soccer was somewhat interesting, but that seemed more of a publicity stunt than anything.

Apparently Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles is considering a track career if the lockout goes into the season and Patriots punter Zoltan Mesko is an intern for a private equity firm.
