What did everyone think of the DraftDay.com contest a couple weeks ago? Is it worth having another one with a free entrance fee? Just want to get some feedback before we commit to setting up and advertising another one! 🙂

It was fun and I can see how it can be addicting, especially if the fantasy gods are in your favor. I say yes to another freeroll.

And BTW thanks guys this site has been amazing.

I would pass. You are getting a downgrade at QB and slightly upgrade at the other 3 players. Not worth it in my opinion.

            • Corey 6:27 pm on October 25, 2011 Permalink

it’s so close with the other 3 players that just in how much of a down grade to romo it’s not a good trade. Downgrade is about 60 ff points. Romo takes about 3 games to get that, and the fact he’s only hit 21 once. Reject

            • james hance 7:43 pm on October 25, 2011 Permalink

now the offer is a bit diff, i get fred jackson, romo, and holmes, i give up brees J battle and shonn greene

            • james hance 7:46 pm on October 25, 2011 Permalink

its sorta a 3 way trade so try being staight out yes or no, dont tell me diff ofers i shuld do

            • Corey 9:14 pm on October 25, 2011 Permalink

Thats actually a fairly decent trade IMO. You get a killer RB, bit of a downgrade at qb and so so on Holmes. I would say take it.
Combined Points per game for his players going to you is. 14.06
Combined Points per game for your players going to him is. 11.4

              It’s a good deal

            • james hance 7:06 am on October 26, 2011 Permalink

i can either do that or austin 4 fred jackson, whoch one is better, just saying i have AJ green, marshal and stevie, which deal is better?

            • Corey 9:36 am on October 26, 2011 Permalink

If you can trade Austin for Fred Jackson I take that trade.

      Fantasy football question:

I have been offered Jeremy Maclin and Peyton Hillis for Demarco Murray and Anquan Boldin. My current rbs are Fred Jackson, Jahvid Best M. Morris Battle Torrain Carter Maurice Jones Drew, current Wr are Brandon Marshall and Andre Johnson and Greg Little

      • Corey 1:11 am on October 25, 2011 Permalink | Reply

NO. Hillis is a bust, plus he’s hurt and will be losing carries to Hardesty. Maclin is a so so receiver. Murray has a great run of matchups, and Boldin is the #1 for Bal. REJECT 🙂

Congrats to our Draft Day contest winner: WDragon33!

Looks like you were the winner of our Draft Day competition. Also, congrats to the second, third and fourth place guys, ryansk, CaptainK24 and cjstetzer, who also won a little prize money.

The amounts for the prizes may seem a little odd, but just so you know there are weekly competitions on the site for as low as $1 and $2, so you can get in there even with your $2.50 prize money. I recommend the two person games for $5 if you can find them, since you have pretty good odds of winning if you know what’s going on and it’s very similar to a head-to-head matchup in your regular fantasy football league. Anyways, good luck to anyone that continues using the site! (More …)

will you guys be having this each week or was this just an introduction to the site?

      • Brandon 10:48 am on October 18, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Steeve, as of now we don’t have plans to have another contest with DraftDay, but things could always change! Having one every week might be a bit much, but maybe we can have at least one more later in the year or something.

Looks like I spoke too soon! We should be having another contest for week 8, so make sure to check back!

QB dilemma this week: Can I trust Fitz this week or should I pick up Jason Campbell? Best available in my league. Kolb on my bench for bye week. Should I part with Kolb?

I another league I have Rivers (bye) and Grossman on my bench. I am thinking I need to pick up a better backup. I think Campbell is available here too, but should I play Grossman? QB prospects low.

        i`d start grossman

      • Brandon 12:21 pm on October 16, 2011 Permalink | Reply

I have no problem with you ditching Kolb at this point and pick up Best. Stick with Fitzpatrick. At QB I’d go with Campbell over Grossman this week (and maybe most other weeks too!) Good luck

        • Natalie 8:49 pm on October 16, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Well I didn’t see your post in time so glad I didn’t ditch Kolb this week. Jason Campbell out for season with broken collarbone! Grossman played GROSS today however! No Sexy Rexy today!

          Thanks!

Nevermind about Best, leave him on free agency if it’s determined he’s going on the IR due to his concussions!

Dez Bryant for sure against possibly the worst pass defense in the league. Good luck!

    • james hance 11:03 am on October 16, 2011 Permalink | Reply

i`d do dez because the cowboys are playing the patriots and the cowboys are coming off a bye week jevan best is very inconsistent, start dez bryant

Enter our free DraftDay.com contest and test your skills against the Geeks!

Last week one of the people from DraftDay.com contacted us with an offer for some free credits on their site in exchange for testing it out, so I figured I’d give it a shot. Draft Day is a weekly fantasy football game, where you pick a line-up (usually with a salary cap) that you expect to do the best for a given week. You can enter contests based on the entrance fee, which can be from free all the way to over $100 (for the big spenders out there!) You can also base your decision on the number of entrants in the competition. Do you want to go against 100 users with the chance to win a huge prize or increase your odds at winning and challenge just four users or something, but with the downside of winning less prize money?

Anyways, on to the good part! We got them to set up a private contest so that our readers can try out the site for free with a chance to win prize money. To enter and compete, go to their site (DraftDay.com) and create an account, then make sure NFL is selected at the top of the site. On the right side, select Private and you’ll see a game called “FFGeek”. Select that game and enter the password geeks2011. Once in the game, you will be prompted to select your optimal line-up with a $100,000 salary cap. After submitting your line-up, you sit back and wait until the games take place this weekend and see how your team does. So sign up for the site and enter our contest and see how you do against the FFGeeks!

I just entered my team, I’m good to go.. Are you able to see how the other teams are doing at any point?

      • Brandon 10:08 am on October 13, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Cool. I think you might be able to see the other teams once they’re locked and the games start? I’ve never really looked to see what goes on with the site while the games are playing though 🙂

Okay, cool.. it’s a good idea for more fantasy to replace your teams that aren’t looking so hot this season..haha

          • Brandon 10:18 am on October 13, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Yeah the site is actually kind of addicting. Not sure if you’ve ever played online poker, but it’s kind of similar in that you can find “tournaments” based on the number of players, which affects the odds of you winning, but also the prize money. This week I’m in one contest for bigger money, but it has 10 people, so my odds aren’t awesome. I’m in another one though that’s just 2 people, so I got a pretty good chance of winning! It’s always fun to see how you can work a salary cap and the weekly match-ups to see the best line-up you can put together.

          • Brandon 10:21 am on October 13, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Of course, I’m still using some free credits they gave me last week. We’ll see how addicting it really is once I run out of the free money 🙂

            • steeve 10:50 am on October 13, 2011 Permalink

I played a lot of online poker in college and I went back to the site I used to use (pokerroom) probably about a year ago but they didn’t have cash games anymore….any recommendations for a new one??

But as for this site, I’ll definitely pay attention to it, I’m already looking forward to seeing how it plays out after the weekend and yeah, I can see myself getting addicted to it..the good kind of addiction though, like ice cream or ball park peanuts. 8^)

          • Brandon 10:56 am on October 13, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Hah, no I don’t have any recommendations. I used to play on Party Poker, but I think they’re one of the sites where all the assets were frozen by the IRS or something.

        • Taylor 8:30 pm on October 13, 2011 Permalink | Reply

You can see all of your opponents lineups as soon as the games start. It’s a lot of fun looking through who other people thought were the best picks of the week.

Should I do this trade in standard league: he gives me Stafford and Ingram, I give him Jahvid Best and Michael Bush? I currently have Matt Ryan and he’s been killing me. I also have Torain, DWilliams, Chris Johnson, McGahee, and Benson, so losing Best doesn’t kill me. Also, if I do the trade I’ll have to unload Ryan (I have Tebow on my bench) – who should I target for a trade? Could I get a WR2 for him? Thanks!

      • Brandon 10:57 am on October 13, 2011 Permalink | Reply

I like that trade. You have plenty of depth at RB to give up Best. As for Ryan, he won’t have a ton of trade value unless there’s a real Matty Ice believer in your league. If someone is starting Andy Dalton or Josh Freeman I guess they may want him, hah

        • Eddie 11:32 am on October 13, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Does it make sense to package Ryan in the deal and he give me Josh Cribbs?

          • Brandon 1:34 pm on October 13, 2011 Permalink | Reply

I don’t think Cribbs adds much to the equation unless it’s a league that gives you big points for return yards. He’s around 40-50 yards a game. I’m sure you can find that kind of production on your free agent list.

My first thought was, “How the hell is this legal?” It looks like DraftDay.com is confident that it is. If this site really takes off, I wonder if they’ll face any legal challenges.

Actually, this might be a good topic for a post… hmm.

My RB’s are weak. Felix, Starks, Hightower, and Jon Stewart. Really strong at WR, TE, and QB. Should I add Jackie Battle off wire and drop Stewart?

    Congratulations to Joe M!

Congrats to Joe M., our contest winner! Joe was one of four who correctly predicted that Kurt Warner would be week 9’s top fantasy QB, a pretty ballsy pick considering Warner’s five interceptions in week 8. Joe’s name was randomly selected from the four who picked Warner. Way to go, Joe. Your $50 NFL.com gift card is in the mail.
