Well that didn’t last long! The Jaguars have put newly re-acquired receiver Mike Sims-Walker on injured reserve with a knee injury. To replace him they claimed Brows cast-off Brian Robiskie…who should not be on your fantasy team.

hey Brandon, i have 2 questions, first in TE, aaron hernandez or Brent celek ,and i have 5 solid WRs and 3 RBs, its a 2 WR 2 RB and 1 WR/RB i have M austin, Stevie johnson, brandon marshall, A.J. green, and antonio brown, my RBs are L mccoy, BJGE, and d. murray, who should i start, for sure starting – AJ green, Austin and Mccoy

Hernandez, then Green/Austin, McCoy/Murray and roll the dice on Green-Ellis against a bad Giants run defense.

I’m so torn this week. Just looking for some advice on which WR i should start (3WR league, 0.5PPR, 10YPP).

I have Nicks, Manningham, JNelson, Decker, and Antonio Brown. Based on the Player Rankings you posted for Week 9, I SHOULD start Nicks, Manningham and Brown. I am weary to put Decker in because of Tebow’s shaky position. I guess what I am wondering is should I have Manningham and Nicks in with them being on the same team. As always, any insight/advice/help is very much appreciated!

Looks like Nicks might not play this week, so that should make your decision easier πŸ™‚ If he’s out, go Manningham, Decker and Brown. Good luck!

That’s a tough one there. I like the upside of V-Jax and Finley over Gronk this week, but Gronk is a safer play I think. I guess I’d bench Jermichael Finley and hope he doesn’t blow up. Good luck!

After waiting for my offer to expire, he sent a counter offer:

          Send LeSean McCoy, Phi RB
          Send Maurice Jones-Drew, Jac RB
          Send Eric Decker, Den WR

          Receive Cam Newton, Car QB
          Receive Calvin Johnson, Det WR
          Receive Fred Davis, Wsh TE

Now, I know Cam Newton is currently ranked #1 QB, and Calvin Johnson is #1 WR, but I’m wary about losing both McCoy and Jones-Drew. I’d still have DeMarco Murray and Fred Jackson though.

I currently have Ryan Fitzpatrick and Josh Freeman as QBs, so Newton IS a step up. My starting wide receivers are Brandon Lloyd and A.J. Green. Johnson would be nice to add as my WR1. So, essentially I’d be switching from having 3 RBs and 2 WRs to having 2 RBs and 3 WRs, right?

What do you think? I would definitely wait to trade until after today’s game though. Need those points from McCoy!

Mike Sims-Walker and the Jaguars part ways

As one of FFGeekBlog.com’s favorite wide receivers, I felt it necessary to mention that Mike Sims-Walker and the Jacksonville Jaguars are parting ways. Sims-Walker tweeted:

“its official, I personally wanna thank all the fans who stuck with me in jacksonville for the last 4 years but sorry to say my time is up!!”

I’m not exactly sure of all the details though. Do the Jaguars think he’s all done in the NFL? Was he cut? Did he hate Jacksonville and want to leave? Did they not offer him enough money?

Maybe the Patriots can scoop him up on the cheap…

Mike Sims-Walker has been quiet so far, but the team still seems committed to him:

“He’s playing fine,” receivers coach Todd Monken said. “He’s been in position to make plays every week that we played. It just hasn’t worked out that way. We’re trying to get him the ball. We’re not trying to avoid getting it to Mike.”

I wouldn’t expect him to be the rock-solid WR2 most of us thought we were drafting this season, but I still think he has a shot at earning a place on fantasy starting lineups by mid-season. The Jags get the Bills this week, so I won’t be surprised if MSW breaks out with a big game and puts all this unpleasantness to rest.

Are Twitter and fantasy football going to have an indirect impact on an NFL team’s game plan? If Jaguars wide receiver Mike Sims-Walker has his way, it seems it could…

So I guess if your fantasy player is underperforming, give him crap about it on Twitter so he makes a big deal to the media and forces his coach to get him more looks.

Finally a football player that cares! Now all we need to do is have RBBC start berating there coaches for more playing time because that way they’d get more consistent fantasy production.

In other news, in case you guys hadn’t noticed, John Carney is playing again for the Saints (as expected) which means that Tecmo Super Bowl officially lives on in the NFL! Last man standing!

Thursday Night Football: IND @ JAX

Although everyone probably already knows (but just in case!), the Colts head to Jacksonville to play the Jaguars on Thursday Night Football tonight. For at least this game it seems that Indianapolis doesn’t plan to do sit any of their stars (unless the score gets lop-sided early I assume.) This means it’s pretty safe to keep Peyton Manning, Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark in your line-ups as usual. I’m not as confident with Joseph Addai though, as he’s had injury troubles in the past and the team may be more apt to get him to the bench early to ensure he’s healthy down the stretch.

For the Jaguars, Maurice Jones-Drew could have a tough go of it, but you can’t really bench him unless you have an running back corps and can replace him. Mike Sims-Walker has a pretty decent match-up with the Colts coming off a game in which they allowed a 21 reception, 200 yard, two touchdown performance to his old UCF teammate, Brandon Marshall. No one else on the roster is really up for consideration, so I’ll leave it at that. Good luck!

Is MSW really worth starting? I mean in the games he’s played injured he’s hasn’t done anything. He’s definitely still hurting but I almost have to play him in one PPR league.

I have MSW, Nicks, Breaston, Meachem, Collie and Chambers to choose from. ATM I have Meachem starting only because it’s clear that MSW is still limited and playing a good set of corners. Thoughts?

      • Brandon 7:38 pm on December 17, 2009 Permalink | Reply

All depends on your other options I guess. Who are you considering starting instead? Nicks, Meachem and Breaston or something? I think I would start him with Meachem and Nicks. Fitzgerald is saying that he wants to play and Breaston didn’t do anything last week.

        • Squish 7:51 pm on December 17, 2009 Permalink | Reply

Well it’s only a 2WR league and I have Welker so he’s definitely starting. I was just trying to figure out my WR2 slot. I think I’m going to go with Meachem and hope for the best. I can’t start MSW with confidence after his last two weeks.

Meachem gets some return yards from time to time which won’t make too big a difference in this league but it at least makes him worth the nod. Hopefully he’ll come through on Saturday.

Sims-Walker got the job done last night, especially in a PPR league where his six catches probably helped a bit. I don’t usually brag, but I love it when I out-predict ESPN’s Matthew Berry. Here too.
