You might seriously consider benching all of your Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants players today. As it’s the playoffs in most leagues and it’s a one-and-done situation, you might not even want to risk the drama with the Vikings’ stadium. Sadly, this means the benching of some key players:

    – Adrian Peterson
    – Eli Manning
    – Ahmad Bradshaw
    – Brandon Jacobs
    – Sidney Rice
    – Mario Manningham
    – Percy Harvin
    – Hakeem Nicks (if he was going to play)
    – Steve Smith (if he was going to play)
    – Visanthe Shiancoe
    – Kevin Boss
    – Brett Favre (alright, he’s probably not a key player to your fantasy team)

Hearing they might move it to Detroit? If AP doesn’t play, i lose.

I’m pretty sure they’ll get the game in somehow, so you’re probably safe to keep AP in your line-up. The game could be Tuesday or Wednesday though, so hopefully the fantasy football leagues handle it properly!

Any thoughts on whether Harvin will play or not? It’d be a big help for me if he didn’t…

Possibility that New York Giants @ Minnesota Vikings game cancelled?!

Not sure what everyone has heard so far, but here’s a short timeline of events regarding the New York Giants vs Minnesota Vikings game this week:

    • Friday: New York Giants trapped in a Kansas City airport due to snowstorms.
    • Saturday: Heavy snowstorm in Minnesota causes game to get moved to Monday Night Football anyways, so the Giants getting stuck in KC didn’t end up mattering.
    • Sunday Morning: That snowstorm in Minnesota has partially collapsed part of the stadium’s roof and now there is concern that the game can’t even be played there on Monday night!
    • Monday (options): 1) Somehow they get the Metrodome up and running, 2) they play at a local college stadium, or 3) they CANCEL the game? Not sure what in the world this would mean in terms of scheduling or to your fantasy football teams…

It’s been reported that they cannot get the Dome ready by Monday night, so right now they’re looking at an alternate outdoir venue here (possibly the U of Minn’s stadium) or another dome in another city. Wind chill is below 0 for the next couple of days, so outdoors will not be pleasant.

Randy Moss waived by the Minnesota Vikings

Just hearing (based on a report by the NFL Network) that Randy Moss has been waived by the Vikings…wow! Talk about a short stay. More information to follow as I find out…

Wow, I didn’t see this. That’s ridiculous! Wonder where he will end up. SD? SEA? CLE? The only Wr I drafted more often than him was Reggie Wayne. Moss could end up killing me!

I cannot even imagine the hilarity if Moss were to join the other Receiva Divas in Cin-city!! THAT’S a non-reality show I could watch. I mean everybody enjoys a good train-wreck!!

No way I can see that happening…yet it definitely would be awesome, hah. Palmer doesn’t have the skills these days to utilize three receivers though and there would be some fireworks when they didn’t get their catches. I’m actually at a loss as to figuring out what team he would help. The only team I can think of that might work is the Colts, but I don’t see that happening.

          One word – RAIDERS!!! ;-P

          • Brandon 11:47 am on November 2, 2010 Permalink | Reply

That would be funny and honestly, they would probably be in a better position to actually utilize his skills this time around. With such a good running game and Heyward-Bey starting to emerge, Moss would open up the field a bit and make their offense even better. Randy would hate going there again though.

I’m hearing that the Dolphins are interested, which is a little scary. Randy Moss, Brandon Marshall and Davone Bess would equate to one of the top receiving corps in the league.

      • Sloth 12:49 pm on November 2, 2010 Permalink | Reply

There is rumor that the Seahawks are interested…..kind of a dead end in my opinion. The hawks line keeps getting hurt.

      • Hawgman 12:58 pm on November 2, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Could be a very strategic move by the Phins. They would get someone that would either get man coverage or take double teams away from Marshall and they would prevent the Pitty-Pats from getting him back for next to nothing.

On the other hand, Moss is poison. I don’t know if I would want Marshall to see the example that Moss shows everyday. I can see it now – A play called for Bess underneath and both Marshall & Moss trotting down field for 5 yards or so not even trying because the play call was not for either of them. This move is a Moss trademark. Marshall seems to have his head back in the game after his implosion in Denver last year. I would hope that he can keep it there weather Moss goes to “South Florida” or not.

I don’t suppose there is any chance that I’ll be able to start Moss this week is there?

      • Hawgman 6:11 am on November 3, 2010 Permalink | Reply

You can start him, but don’t expect much of a game from him. His timing seems to be a little off…

      • Brandon 8:17 am on November 3, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Well, I assume if he’s claimed off waivers that he’ll be starting for some poor team this weekend (unless it’s a bye week team.) I have him in one league and have currently moved him to the bench for Christopher Ivory in a flex spot…pretty sad.

Make sure to read this hilarious-ness (if you didn’t watch it to begin with) about the post-game press conference Randy Moss gave after the Patriots beat his new team.

    Randy Moss headed to Minnesota

GREEN BAY, WI - JANUARY 9: Wide receiver Randy Moss #84 of the Minnesota Vikings talks with a teammate against the Green Bay Packers in the NFC wild-card game at Lambeau Field on January 9, 2005 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Vikings defeated the Packers 31-17. (Photo by Brian Bahr/Getty Images)It’s official, Patriots wide receiver Randy Moss has been traded today to the Minnesota Vikings for a 3rd round draft pick next season. As a Patriots fan, I’m not even sure how I feel about this really. There’s no real way to say how valuable he’s been to the Patriots in weeks where he catches zero passes, but still distracts defenses. I guess we’ll find out soon!

In terms of fantasy, I don’t see this trade really hurting anyone’s value. Brandon Tate becomes the heir-apparent as the deep threat in New England, so pick him up ASAP! Patriots rookie tight end Aaron Hernandez will continue to see more looks from Tom Brady as well. Brett Favre will obviously have a great target and his numbers should get a bit better and I’m sure he’ll force the ball to Moss all day long, so Randy’s value increases too.

Tom Brady’s value is a question mark, but I have a feeling that in the end, he’ll still be putting up numbers like he has so far this year. I can’t see Wes Welker’s numbers changing all that much either, as he’ll continue to be Brady’s favorite target, but is used primarily on the short throws. He could get some more looks in the redzone though I guess.

Maybe the Pats trade Moss and scoop up Vincent Jackson? I wouldn’t be completely against that 🙂

Should I add Brandon Tate WR-NE or Danny Woodhead WR-NE?

      • Brandon 2:20 pm on October 6, 2010 Permalink | Reply

I assume Tate will be a more consistent part of the offense and is worth a pickup for sure, especially if your league awards points for special teams return yards or points.

Just traded Larry Fitz, Randy Moss, Ryan Torain, and Dustin Keller for Calvin Johnson, Eddie Royal, Ryan Matthews, and Dallas Clark.

      Good trade, right?

      • Brandon 2:47 pm on October 6, 2010 Permalink | Reply

At this point, with the Randy Moss trade going down this morning, it’s really hard to tell who will win in this trade. I think you probably ended up with the better side of the deal, which is pretty interesting considering where the players ranked at the beginning of the season. However, if Moss turns out to be a monster for the Vikings, you may regret this trade…you’ll have to wait and see though 🙂

i am torn. i have sanchez and favre. who to start this week?

      • Brandon 2:24 pm on October 6, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Even with Randy Moss on the Vikings now, I think you stick with the hot hand of Mark Sanchez. He’s got home field advantage and who knows what kind of throws Favre will force in there to get the ball to Randy Moss. If the Randy Moss-to-Vikings experiment works out, maybe you switch the two in the future, but not this week.

By the way, I’ve added them to our ranks for this week, so check it out:

who should i start this week for QB while Tom Brady is having a bye week, Palmer or Orton?

      • Brandon 2:28 pm on October 6, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Orton has been on fire, but he’s playing against a Ravens team that is allowing an insane 119 yards per game through the air and has only allowed one passing touchdown. Stick with Palmer against a softer TB defense.
