    Review: Matchup Huddle

Think you’re a fantasy football guru, but lazy to start your own blog? Then look no further than MatchupHuddle.com (@matchuphuddle)! Not too long ago I wrote a quick overview of FantasyIQ, which allows users to provide advice to others who ask weekly line-up or trade questions. Matchup Huddle is along those same lines, but has many more features (at least at the point of writing this post.)

When you go to the website, the first thing you’ll see is a screen similar to the one below. It will list a few of the match-ups for a given week, all in the format shown, where you either pick one guy or another. Each match-up is rated like ski mountain trails, indicating the difficulty users are having with a particular decision. For example, Adrian Peterson versus Sammy Morris would be a green circle, while Steven Jackson versus Michael Turner could end up being a double black diamond!

Looks cool! I didn’t look deep enough to notice that it actually tracked and compared advice givers. That’s kinda awesome. Too bad I only found out a about it last week 🙁

Are there any rewards/awards on that site for being the best or is it pretty much just a street cred sort of thing?

Just street cred at the moment. Maybe someday they can add something cool. Maybe a widget that you can show on your blog that you were the top picker or something for a given time period?

First impressions of Fox Sports Fantasy Football Commissioner

At some point in ’07 (when the season had already started and it was too late), I noticed that Fox Sports Fantasy Football Commissioner offered pretty much everything that a Yahoo Plus league did – except for free, rather than $125 per league (irked by the fee, we went with Yahoo’s free version last season, which has far fewer features and customization options). I tucked that little nugget of knowledge away until today, when I decided upon further review to go with Fox for the keeper league I commish. Here are a few of my initial impressions: (More …)

Good stuff Matt. Myself I would have never considered paying for Yahoo above MyFantasyLeague.com

We have a redraft that I have done for about 6-7 years that has been from NFL.com to Yahoo, to Fanstar (worst customer service I have come across in my life) to MyFantasyLeague. Last year I was going to use Fox because I wanted it to go back free. After a couple weeks of people gong in and moving around two of the guys chipped in and paid for MFL.com to keep the league there.

I;ll be watching for your updates!

Played on Fox last year, and I found it very sluggish during the season – which was a real bitch when I had to make last minute lineup changes.

I also had trouble launching their draft app, and thus missed a draft because of it.

Those things are definitely fixable, and I hope they’ve done so, but I wouldn’t use Fox again until I heard better reviews.

Thanks for the input, Chris. Now you’ve got me worried. My league will give me hell if we go through yet another season on a site they’re unhappy with (they hated FleaFlicker when we used it in ’06).

    • Chris 1:36 pm on June 25, 2008 Permalink | Reply

We used Fox/MSN a few of seasons ago and were plagued with issues. Scoring not updating, missed drafts, login issues. You name it, we had it. The next year I ran the league simultaneously wit Yahoo and Fox for backup. Sure enough, we had many of the same issues. I figured after the first year they might get it together. We then went to FleaFlicker in ’06 and for now that’s where we’re staying.

Good luck with Fox. They certainly offer a lot of features, but the QoS sucks.

Have you ever reviewed MyFantasyLeague.com? I have read a lot of positive stuff, but haven’t bit yet for my league.

    • Peter 10:29 pm on July 11, 2008 Permalink | Reply

I used MSN 2005 and experienced the same issues regarding stats being lost and etc – nothing was catastrophic but had some members not too happy with it. Used yahoo last year, and have the same issues regarding unfairness (those who sit in front of computer/tv all Sunday). I would like to lock roster changes during the weekends and put everyone on waiver. Alas, FOX is the only one who giving that option… for free… should I?

Do not join fox fantasy anything. It is the worst there is! It is slow and buggy and has errors all the time. Just go to the forums there and read them and you will see they suck. I am in a baseball league this year and it has been quite the headache! Don’t join, you will be sorry I guarantee it! I found stories from last years fantasy football and it was the same as it is now CRAP! Fox doesn’t care about it or they would have fixed the problem a long time ago. Good luck if you try to contact them about your league problems they will never get back to you! Save yourself the trouble of not being able to change your lineup due to errors and other bugs! Try ESPN of Yahoo or something else but I’m warning anyone who wants to join Fox, DON’T! You will regret it! It might look nice but thats all they have to offer!

for FREE leagues this is my order of preference (based on 6 years of FF and having been in all of these at one time or another):
      1. ESPN Fantasy Football
      2. NFL Fantasy
      3. CBS Sportline Fantasy
      4. Yahoo Fantasy (definitely my worst experience among these)

My league has been using foxsports for about four years and we have had no major problems. Everyone seems to be satisfied with the league especially because its free. I will say though, the only complaint I would have is that its a little slow at times.

FOX is total crap this year 2010! Scoring has been off all season and keeps flip-flopping. Roster issues where players are not able to be dropped or benched. Tech support from FOX amounted to a form email.

This IS by far the worst site I have ever used for fantasy football. I have issues with rosters, scoring, logging in, drafting, basically all major areas of fantasy land, I have a problem. Tech support from them doesnt exist with just sending an email and getting no response. I would never use this site again and would never recommend anyone to use it. This is 2010!! there computers cant add?? this site is some BS!!

FOX FANTASY FOOTBALL SUCKS!!! This is my first year playing fantasy football and I don’t know if I can stand to finish out the season. I have the 2nd best record in my league and I can’t stand the Fox site so badly that I might just drop out!!!
I have emailed support over and over again…. NO HUMAN RESPONSE!!! These guys absolutely Blow!! They FUCH up the scores. Give people wins who actually lost. Changed the log in page so that no one could figure out where to log in to adjust rosters. And most recently, I did an add/drop. Guess what!! They dropped my player and then DIDN”T GIVE ME THE ADD PLAYER. So now, I HAVE NO TIGHT END.
They are flippin idiots. I bet tomorrow when I log in again (if they haven’t changed the page) someone else will have the tight end that I am supposed to have!!
Nothing but Morons running that site!!!
