Thursday night football: Jets @ Broncos

Just like last week (and next week as well) we have Thursday night football tonight! Make sure all your decisions have been made that involved New York Jets or Denver players.

Keep in mind that if you’re thinking about starting Lance Ball, you need to pay close attention to the status of Willis McGahee leading up to the start of the game.

    • carl 2:48 pm on November 17, 2011 Permalink | Reply

i need help before tonight. i have an rb crisis. i have ball, mcgahee, gore, blount, wells and daniel thomas. i need to play 2. i gotta win this game. am ok at wr with dez, roddy, harvin, djax, d.williams and a. brown on bye.

which 2 rbs will get me most oints and which wr should i play at flex? am thinking will start dez, roddy for sure then is tossup with harvin, d williams or djax as 3rd back and flex.

sounds bleak, i know, but am playing weakest team in my league and need the win.

      • Brandon 3:56 pm on November 17, 2011 Permalink | Reply

I think McGahee will play, so go with him if he does (otherwise go Lance Ball.) For the other RB go with Gore if he plays, otherwise go with Blount. At receiver go with Harvin and roll the dice on DeSean Jackson in the flex. Good luck!

I have a slight dilemma and I have an hour and a half to decide which route to take. Last night I just accepted an off that will bring Dez Bryant and Harry Douglas to my team for Shonn Greene and Torrey Smith. It is scheduled to go through by Saturday meaning Dez should be ready to go for Week 11 on my squad. However, I read in the trade rules that if I play Shonn Greene today, the trade will be pushed back for Week 12. On top of that, the guy I am playing against for Week 11 is the guy I just made the trade with.

–> So do i play Shonn Greene today against Dez Bryant? Or sit Shonn Greene and play Dez on Sunday while my opponent will be without Dez AND Shonn??

Would you take Andre Johnson for Michael Bush? I have DMC and looks like he’ll be out again. It’s a PPR and my other WRs are Steve Smith and Pierre GarΓ§on.

      My Team Friend Team
      Tim Tebow Fitzgerald or Cutler
      L. Blount for Lynch
Owen Daniels or Ed Dickson Aaron Hernandez Or Tony Gonzalez

But my main question is who is more valuable to trade for Hernandez or Gonzalez

I’m stuggling with this because I feel like with earnest graham out blount is def due to start racking up carries/points. But frank gore has been killing it. But he is injury prone… ahhhhh!!! I am struggling with this. Please help!!!

I don’t have a question.. I just wanted it known that I would like Chiefs D to come up BIG tonight which would help out greatly with the playoff landscape in one of my leagues.. I hope they hold Brady to 150 yards passing and if he has to throw any TDs I hope they’re screens to BenJarvus!! haha, I wouldn’t bet that’s going to happen but I will hope for it!!

      • steeve 3:42 pm on November 21, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Okay, now a question.. I was offered Andre Johnson for Demarco Murray..

I also have Foster though so I wasn’t sure how that’d factor in.. Along with the injury and the new QB..

        What’r your thoughts??

        • steeve 11:27 am on November 22, 2011 Permalink | Reply

I declined that one but was now offered Antonio Brown for Legarrette Blount in a PPR….

You already have Murray and Foster right? Who are your other receivers?

            • steeve 11:36 am on November 22, 2011 Permalink

              Larry Fitzgerald..

              Format: RB, RB/WR, RB/WR, WR

David Nelson only other WR on my team currently.. I have Fred Jackson also so normally I wouldn’t even start Brown but now if Jackson may be injured, just something else to think about..

Foster, Jackson, Murray, Fitzgerald (Blount on bench)

            • steeve 11:37 am on November 22, 2011 Permalink

so either Blount or Brown would step in if Jackson misses any time

          • Brandon 11:37 am on November 22, 2011 Permalink | Reply

In a PPR league, you could do worse than Antonio Brown I guess, so I’d probably go with the trade. Foster, Murray, Fitz and Brown (with Jackson on the bench) is pretty solid.

coworker’s proposing a trade of LeSean McCoy for any two of his WRs.

my RBs other than McCoy are DeMarco Murray, Fred Jackson, Brandon Jacobs, Willis McGahee, and Payton Hillis.

      his WRs:
      Jordy Nelson
      Brandon Marshall
      Laurent Robinson
      Dwayne Bowe
      Marques Colston
      Miles Austin*

      my WRs:
      Eric Decker

      A.J. Green*

      • Brandon 11:30 am on November 22, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Since you’re in need of production NOW, grab Smith and hope he has another big game this week. Felix Jones won’t do any better than split carries with Murray and won’t get you out of last place. Good luck! πŸ™‚

    There’s a football game tonight!

The Raiders head to San Diego to play the Chargers. The game will be on the NFL Network, so most of you probably won’t be able to watch it, but you still want to check your rosters to make sure all your Chargers and Raiders players are in their desired spots!!!

Here’s the current status of some of the players that had question marks for the week:

    • RB Darren McFadden – OUT
    • WR Malcom Floyd – Doubtful
    • RB Ryan Mathews – Probable – Start him if you got him.
    • WR Darrius Heyward-Bey – Healthy, but who knows how much playing time he gets after not playing a whole lot last week!
    • TE Kevin Boss – Same as DHB above. Don’t start Boss if you can help it.

      • Brandon 3:17 pm on November 10, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Although consistency is not the first (or the second, third, etc) word you think of when talking about the Redskins running game, I think in this case you roll the dice with Helu after last week’s performance. I have to imagine he gets plenty of looks in the passing game again which will help you out PPR-wise a lot. Good luck!

I have M. Bush Tolbert and Mathews and I can only start 2. Now here’s my thinking. Yes I know you should never run 2 rbs on the same team…but, imo I like the matchup better running tolbert and mathews against a terrible run defense and I don’t see Bush getting any more than 10 points . Any thoughts from you guys on who you would start? Thanks

      • Brandon 3:24 pm on November 10, 2011 Permalink | Reply

On the contrary, I envision Michael Bush having a pretty solid game actually. He’s had over 100 combined yards in the past couple games he started and as the Raiders love to run the ball, he will probably approach that again. The Chargers running backs are the riskier play in my eyes since A) there are two of them to split up the carries and B) Mathews is returning from injury. I’d go Bush and Mathews and rest Tolbert (even though in reality I like all three of them this week.) Good luck either way though!

I was on the fence up until about 15 minutes to go. And what’s funny about this whole situation. Another owner in my league had offered me Brees for Mathews and 15 mins before gametime that trade 2 days ago processed before game time lol. So it forced me to play Tolbert and Bush. And yea I had Bush as a starter before this happened but this sealed it lol. Thanks for advice though. πŸ™‚

      NON- PPR

HELP! Okay, here is my dilema, I have all top 20 WR’s (Dwayne Bowe, Brandon Marshall, Julio Jones and A.J. Green) I also have great Running Backs (AP, Mike Tolbert, Starks and Reggie Bush)

I need help on who to start for my WR’s and Flex:

Should I play A.J. Green aganist Pit, Julio Jones aganist NO or Brandon Marshall aganist Washingston?
Dwayne Bowe is a for sure starter, which leaves two spots for WR’s open

      Okay now Running backs:

I am playing AP for sure and I am leaning towards playing Tolbert in my flex or should I put in Bush?

    • SCOTTIE G 2:14 pm on November 10, 2011 Permalink | Reply

should i trade steve smith and DHB for ray rice. i am in a PPR(1pt. per reception) format. i do like the double dip i get when newton and smith connect with paydirt. I have Peterson and Johnson…i could have a 3 headed monster adding rice and having all 3 running for me using the flex spot. my 2 receivers would be bryant and cruz…newton and witten…hanson and packers to round it out. good trade?

      • Brandon 3:33 pm on November 10, 2011 Permalink | Reply

After the games Oakland played with DHB last week (e.g. his lack of playing time), I’d say go ahead and make the trade. Having AP and Rice at running back is HUGE and it looks like you’ll survive at WR without Smith. With Newton at QB at least you get to live vicariously off of any stats he puts up anyways πŸ™‚

      RB – Arian Foster, MJD
      TE – Jake Ballard

Flex = Andy Dalton (QB), Darren Sproles (RB), BenJarvus Green-Ellis, (Pierre Garcon-WR)

Thursday Night Football: CHI @ MIA

As usual, just wanted to remind you that Thursday night football games have started and tonight the Bears take their talents to South Beach to play the Dolphins. In case I haven’t mentioned this before…I hate starting players in Thursday night games! While there’s a chance your player blows up and you get to gloat about it for a few days, there’s always the chance that he puts up a stinker, making the days leading up to Sunday a lot more unsettling (those who started Michael Turner last week know what I’m talking about!) At least with tonight’s game featuring the Bears and Dolphins, keeping thefantasy football-relevant players on your bench shouldn’t be that big of an issue anyways πŸ™‚

      • Brandon 8:51 am on November 10, 2010 Permalink | Reply

It’s early, but my initial rankings have Jamaal Charles and Frank Gore just ahead of Peyton Hillis. Charles plays against a league worst run defense, while Hillis plays the league’s best.

      • Brandon 8:54 am on November 10, 2010 Permalink | Reply

That being said, good luck finding it in your heart to bench Hillis after last week’s performance! When making the final decision though, just remember to look back more than one game. You’ll see that Hillis hadn’t been racking up yards in weeks 5-7 all that much until playing the Patriots, so don’t expect HUGE numbers every week.

      • Brandon 8:55 am on November 10, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Got the rankings up in case you had any requests. However, looking at your roster I think the only change I’d make is to put Reggie Wayne in for Randy Moss. I know it’ll be fun to cheer for Moss on his new team, but remember that it IS his new team and he’s not guaranteed to even play all the passing downs as he gets up to speed on the play book. I’d go with the safer play with Wayne.

        • Sloth 7:23 pm on November 11, 2010 Permalink | Reply

Randy Moss averages 5.5 receptions and 122.3 yards in his fist game in a new uniform….Wayne has been on everyone’s love list and always underperformed….
Vince Young leads the league in passer rating on pass attempts of 21+ yards.

          Still not high on moss?

Also i traded Brady and Holmes for S Jax and Mike Wallace. does the addition of Mike Wallace change your mind about my lineup?

          • Brandon 1:56 pm on November 12, 2010 Permalink | Reply

You now have Bradshaw, CJ, S-Jax, Gore and Blount?! I love Mike Wallace this year, but with Wayne, Boldin, Moss, Austin and those running backs, good luck finding a time to start him!

As for the Moss vs Wayne discussion, I really have no problem with you rolling the dice on Moss. I rank him below Wayne due to the risk factor, but I think he could have the higher ceiling for this week. Mike Wallace could end up outscoring both of them though if he catches a couple deep balls over the weak Patriots secondary. They always say it’s a “good problem to have” when you have lots of good players, right? πŸ™‚

Thursday Night Football: NYJ @ BUF

As usual, just wanted to give everyone a heads up to the fact that there is a game tonight, which could potentially mean your roster gets locked (or players get put on waivers) after game-time tonight. In terms of the players in the game that you should care about, you’ll probably want Thomas Jones and Fred Jackson in your line-ups, but besides them there is no one else all that appealing, since Darrelle Revis will most likely be shutting down T.O.

    • Squish 12:52 am on December 6, 2009 Permalink | Reply

Man, Revis has been a monster this year! I calculated out his stats and he’s been absolutely demolishing the league’s top WRs. He’s holding opposing WRs to just 3 catches a game and has allowed only 1 WR over 50 yards all season (Ginn and all in one play). He’s definitely moved up my list of CBs. Oddly, the Jets are still missing a starting CB (Lowery). When/if they get him back, watch out. Man to man with those guys and a loaded box will mean a very tough defense in the future.
