    Tim Tebow’s draft value

The TL:DR; version: If he’s there in the later rounds (say, ninth round or later in a 12-team league), I’m drafting him.

Even if I already have two QBs. Even if the Jets swear up and down the Sanchez is their man. Even if the Jets don’t appear to have any plans to use him as anything but a plain vanilla backup QB.

Of course, he won’t be there in the late rounds. There will be a true believer in every draft who reaches for him in the fifth, and that person is crazy. But his true draft value is still a lot higher than any other backup QB on a team that just reaffirmed its commitment to the incumbent starter with a contract extension for two reasons:

First, Sanchez is terrible, and even worse when the pressure is on. With the NY press second-guessing at his every throw from training camp on, he’s going to come out of the gate looking like the worst $40 million anyone ever spent on anything.

Second, there’s no way in hell Rex Ryan leaves him to rot on the bench even if Sanchez does keep his job. When your first-string QB is Mark Sanchez, you’ve got the perfect Wildcat QB on your roster, and your new offensive coordinator is Tony Sparano (AKA the guy who invented the Wildcat), you run the Wildcat. A lot. That alone doesn’t make him worth a fantasy start, but if they find other ways to get him involved, he could become an interesting option even as a backup.

I guess the most interesting question is: Who will get picked earlier in drafts this year, Sanchez or Tebow?

I agree that Sanchez is a bum. I can’t believe they spent that much on him. Tebow will put up some points because they will still use him, he’s probably good for 10 PPG

Tebow put up some nice points last year despite not really passing much.

It’ll be interesting to see if the Jets bench Sanchez an give him the chance. I am in both a dynasty league and a redraft league. I would take a chance on him in a dynasty salary league but I don’t know if I could pull the trigger this year in a redraft. IMO you have to draft him too high to meet a better risk/reward factor. I would also say that Tebow gets selected well before Sanchez in most leagues.

i follow a lot of analysts at http://www.ffgator.com through twitter and most many made the point that Sancez wont top 20 TDs this year with Tebow stealing many goal line options. RBs will suffer as well.

Any chance he will be listed as a QB/RB in Yahoo?

Quit yer laughin!! I can dream can’t I?!?

Another player wants to trade Ben Roethlisberger for Tony Romo. I’m not sure about it though. Do you think Roethlisberger and LeSean McCoy for Romo and C.J. Spiller ( or Mark Ingram) will be a good deal, and one that might be accepted?

Saturday Night Live Tim Tebow skit

Not a huge fan of SNL these days, but this skit was pretty good…

This was funny! lol Think Tebow looked better in his throwing this week, Im thinking a solid off season with Elway will help him a ton. Losing to the Patriots is no big surprise, the Pats have a brutal offense, especially when you give them ball on the 30, 3 times in a row. :()

    • Corey 2:42 pm on October 28, 2011 Permalink | Reply

hey guys, I need help picking one flex player for this week as a bye fill in.

RB- Battle, Moreno, Morris, Carter, Jacobs, Hillis
WR- Washington, Walter, Jenkins, A.Brown, T.Smith, Demaryuis Thomas

Normally I would just go with instinct and pick one for a spot fill but wanted to get a consensus pick for this week.

      Thanks 🙂

      • Brandon 3:01 pm on October 28, 2011 Permalink | Reply

You need a running back AND a wide receiver? Or just one from the whole group? At running back it’s close (with Battle), but I’m leaning towards Knowshon Moreno, who should get a lot of carries in that run-first offense. At receiver, I like Antonio Brown against the Patriots less-than-stellar pass defense. Of the whole crew, I guess I pick Moreno, but it’s really close between he, Battle and Brown. Good luck man!

        • Corey 3:06 pm on October 28, 2011 Permalink | Reply

yea, I was going to try and sneak Pierre Thomas in there but he was snagged up earlier. Those were my top 3 choices: Battle, Brown and Moreno but it’s going to be a tad difficult on which one lol. I’m already starting Wallace although Brown a great game vs Ari last week too. And both SD and Det have started to give up more yards on the ground. I guess I’ll just pull a name out of a hat lol 🙂

The following WRs are available as free agents, and I want to replace Damian Williams with one of them. Which would you choose (not just for the week, but for the remainder of the season):

      David Nelson (BUF)
      Preston Parker (TB)
      Michael Jenkins (MIN)

My current WRs are: AJ Green, Antonio Brown, Percy Harvin, Greg Little (and D. Williams). Right now, I’m leaning towards Nelson.

      *Not a PPR league

      • Corey 5:52 pm on October 28, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Jenkins looks to be Ponders favorite right now so I would pick him up. Nelson has been battling injuries and parker isn’t much of an option either. Grab Jenkins.

      • Brandon 9:26 pm on October 29, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Agree with Corey here, go with Jenkins.

2 questions. Really appreciate any advice!

Do I trade welker for colston and jenkins?

welker through bye colston and jenkins are not.

Is stafford -5pts a week vs. tebow a good bet?

      • JStein 7:44 pm on October 28, 2011 Permalink | Reply

should have added that its a ppr league.

      • Brandon 9:28 pm on October 29, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Do you really need help at wide receiver or something? If you need Jenkins as one of your starters, then this trade is ALMOST acceptable, but it still isn’t. Keep Welker, who is a PPR champ!

As for QB’s, Stafford – 5 points will probably end up being pretty close to Tebow. Tebow’s rushing yards will make up for a TD a game most of the time and if he can throw one or two short TD’s as well, he’ll put up decent numbers.

I am have a BYE coming up and am trying to decide which WR to drop – Manningham or DHB. I am starting Mike Wallace, Desean Jackson and Lloyd, so really whoever I keep is for upside/future injury risk. Who do people think has the most potential going forward?

      • Brandon 9:29 pm on October 29, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Keep Heyward-Bey, who is all upside from here on out. Once Carson Palmer gets used to the offense, Heyward-Bey could get even better.

Start Romo @ Eagles or Fitzpatrick vs Skins?

I’ve got Romo ranked ahead of Fitzpatrick on my rankings. Good luck!

should i drop Decker for Antonio Brown/Demaryius Thomas/Michael Crabtree/Emmanuel Sanders?

      • Neil 5:01 pm on October 29, 2011 Permalink | Reply

My other WR are Hakeen Nicks, Mario Manningham (and Jordy Nelson – bye week).

      • Brandon 9:32 pm on October 29, 2011 Permalink | Reply

Sure, I’d probably go Antonio Brown if it’s a one week thing, otherwise i like Demaryius Thomas if he stays healthy and Michael Crabtree (but not this week with a tough match-up.)

Steven Jackson or Kevin Walter for a flex spot? It’s a non ppr league.

In a standard league, would you start Bernard Scott, Reggie Bush (with Daniel Thomas now out), or Vernon Davis at a RB/WR/TE spot? I’m already starting Foster and Murray at RB, Fitzgerald and Lloyd at WR, and Fred Davis at TE. Thanks!!

      V. Davis for sure.

Working on this week’s waiver wire post, but the obvious names that come to mind are Jackie Battle, Jonathan Dwyer and Tim Tebow (if you’re a believer!)

Depends on your league rules, but if you’re in a keeper league, this is the time to be scooping up potential prospects for next season! Maybe Tim Tebow or Colt McCoy strike your fancy? Maybe you think the Raiders bring in a better quarterback and Jacoby Ford becomes a consistent fantasy force? Whatever your thoughts, make a move on the waiver wire this week before you lose your chance!
